I want something expandable and isn't completely OverPowered. Ideas?

There's really only one or the other. If you expand something enough it becomes "OP"

As for interesting: Gather Essence bushes which get harvested by a harvester and have an autonomous activator "use" the berries over a sewer. This will convert the exp orbs into mob essence.

Bonus: Use some of the mob essence for a mob spawner spawning blizzs to farm for cryrotheum and another for blazes so you can run on Pyrotheum, Cryrotheum, mob essence, and the solid reactant of your choice.

Hmm I like this idea. How exactly do I get started with mob essence? Ideally I'd like to set up something to spawn villagers then sacrifice them to the holy overlord (azanor)

I really need something interesting to set up. My current set up right now is just a cali burner and a steam whosawhatsit. And its extremely boring. I was thinking of using pigmen + grinder to get mob essence, turning the drops into molten gold then ... well I'm not sure what I'd do with all the molten gold. Probably just fill my base with it using openblock tanks.

Well it would help to know what pack/mods you have, and what you consider interesting and OP. Most power gen is just piping in solids and or fluids into a block/multiblock. There is a mod that generates RF? when mobs walk over tiles although the name escapes me at the moment, that's probably the most unique and easily expandable power system. But it might be considered OP.
As for other methods, Extra utilities has some interesting generators like the potion generator which provides better/longer generation when you use better potions. There is also the culinary generator which works somewhat similar to the calorimetric but without needing the steam boiler. Combine with other mods like hunger overhaul and things like pam's harvestcraft, agriculture, and/or growthcraft for some interesting builds.

Make a grinder and put some mobs in front of it

Tinkers/Natura essence berry bushes. When used by an activator produces exp orbs which can be converted to mob essence via sewer. Otherwise you can use an XP extractor which uses a bucket from your inventory to make a bucket of mob essence for the cost of 1 level.

Is that energy positive?

I just started a new base in the server im on when those new generators came in, the sheep keep up with the 3 generators powering the ranchers and the 4 below providing power to the base. after a day, the dsu in the lower picture has a net gain of 2500 pieces of wool, so it can handle a lot more generators.

Engineers toolbox is the mod of origin is called the piezo electric tile and it produces rf

When I first learned of those I immediately went into my creative world and started to experiment. The idea was to place the piezos in a rectangular shape and used fans to blow passive mobs around the loop. Unfortunately there is a chance for the mobs to take damage every time they step on the piezo so eventually they all die.

This could be turned into an energy positive mob grinder though. Anyone have some designs using a MFR auto spawner or better yet, cursed earth farm that takes advantage of piezos?

Wouldn't be terribly difficult to setup an autospawner to drop mobs in the loop if there are less than x mobs in the loop via some mob entity counter.

Do passive mobs get a regen effect from a beacon?

Hmm, interesting. A geostrata regen potion crystal would probably work.... I know for sure it heals villagers. Just pop one down somewhere along the loop and you'd be set. As a side note, the fan from open blocks runs forever for free and is very cheap to make. It's not fast, but you can compensate with more mobs.

Something to try out when I get home :)

Forgive me, I dont use that texture pack or IC2 since 1.4.7. Mind telling the rest of us what that is?

These are 3x of a module I developed for 1.4.7.

4x36 HP Steam Boilers -> 64 Industrial Steam engines -> 20 Crucibles -> (I think) 25 Thermal generators. I built three of these and have room for 1 more. Depending on my current capacity to produce biofuel, I could expand it. I have a relatively high generate rate of honey & apple juice, which means I can increase my biomass production by 50%, and thus my biofuel production by about 12.5%.[DOUBLEPOST=1394643513][/DOUBLEPOST]Repost for convenience:

[DOUBLEPOST=1394643676][/DOUBLEPOST]As for mods, the only IC2 would be the EU parts, i.e. thermal gens + glass fibre. The conductive piping is simply to hold the logic gates that I use to activate my steam engines.

The bottom section (Steam boilers) would be RC? Midsection is crucibles/extruders, so TE? Most of the piping is REC/liqiducts, so TE once again.
