Hello Forum! I am currently using the reccomended version of the FTB Ultimate Pack. I want to make this door just wide and open. My original plan was to use Interdiction torches, but they not be in here. How do i stop mobs from just wandering in? If i light up the whole area the snow will melt and kind of ruin the look of the landscape. I want it to be wide and open.

A really small force field that just blocks the door and allows only people with security cards in.

you could also use conveyor belts. You would just have to jump over them on the way in.

  1. Join fresh server
  2. be the first to make an amazing industry, with tons of resources coming in
  3. have an export or product, like potatoes or bibliocraft tables or poop from MFR
  4. everyone else on the server cant compete with you if youre expanding into their land
  5. tell them that they dont have to live in poverty next to your factory
  6. hire them to stand outside of your factory and kill any mob that tries to go in
  7. pay them in MFR poo
  8. they will likely accept the offer and think that the poo is a good resource
  9. they wont have any way to use the poo because youve taken all the metal for anything they could build
  10. you now have an amazing poo empire, controlling mindless players with the incentive of poo
  11. no pigs will ever penetrate your poo fortress
  12. enjoy the game

There was a vanilla update that made mobs afraid of tracks, but I think it's either 1.5+, or mojang decided not to use it.

A door is probably the best choice, by either pistoning gravel or using frames.

Some soulsand with fences under it might do something, I'm not sure what though.

Ooh! A pair of Iron Golem guards from thaumcraft (or vanilla if you want to deal with that) to stand watch and kill anything mob-related.

I'd just use a door for now and expand to a mffs door once you have the power excess to run one without the power cost bothering you :)

Arcane pressure plates set to activate for everything else but you and hook those up to high energy pellet launchers in the doorway.

The problem with MFFS2, is the bloody non-renewable forcicium - yes one can use compact forcicium cells but there's no way to automatically use those, and therefore they are by my definition non-renewable.
So yeah, no force feilds.

Microblocks.

Just put some corner pieces covering up the entire doorway. The mob pathfinding should break and assume the microblocks are full blocks.

You could also try open fence gates, but I'm fairly sure the mob pathfinding knows that they're not solid blocks.

If it's really bothering you, just put down a moat with either some microblocks or some open fence gates on the top of the hole. The mobs' pathfinding will assume that they're solid blocks and they'll try to get into your house by walking over the moat. Spiders may be an issue, you can try some of the spikes from Extra Utilities to kill them.

If he had extra utilities counted he use the magnum torche thing a from it?

However, except for postponable pushing, xycraft quartz may work.

I think you could use a nether porta,l the mobs will try to pass and will sent to the nether, but if you're going to use that portal remember to have a good armor and a flint and steel...
