Some of these like voice I'm not sure on that's up to the viewer really hah, I prolly. Have a slight southern accent being from Louisiana.

I really want to get in with other players, but its hard to find reliable people to make vids with never mind trusting people. I don't Plan on going around asking well known lpers to duo with me either, id rather wait for someone to come to me this early in. I don't wanna come across as trying to be a sub leech.

I'm a firm beliver in if you build it they will come, so for now solo is how I wanna play it :)

As for umms well that's something I'm trying to practice, and I have learned so far its something that's hard not to do.

As far as jumping if you mean like jumping in game, if you sprint and jump you actually move fasterthan straight sprinting.

If you mean jump subjects, I'm kinda scatterbrained at times, and my monster lp is definatly a bit scattered as I dip my toes into about 4 or 5 mods so far just to get rudementary setups.

Oh dear, that went off in a direction I hadn't anticipated.

1. You said you're making these for friends, so invite them into the LPs. Make it a conversation with the friend about the mods, rather than to some imaginary audience?!

2. Well you can try and be calm and composed? ;) Take what applies, man!

3. Le sigh! I meant the aimless jumping around like daffy duck while saying "Hello everyone, this is DW20 and welcome to another episode of my ..... In this episode we're going to take a look at ....."

Less ambiguous now? :)

1. Partly, and that's not the main reason. Regardless they have no interest in recording, andthe only one that does is currently unable to record. Not really an imaginary audience, just an invisible and very small audience currently.

2. I'm not a Chimneyswift, I don't have that kinda energy. I'm more laid back and relaxed unless of course I get buttbombed by a creeper.

3. I generally like to look over what I'm working on or have been working on which sometimes includes jumping on it, other than that I don't think I do that.

As for umms well that's something I'm trying to practice, and I have learned so far its something that's hard not to do.

I know when I record my tutorials I have the same problem it is because it is unnatural for a human to speak for 15+ min non stop without taking gaps and listening to others respond. It will come with time look at direwolf20 first videos he had a lot of umms and much quieter voice the same with most of known youtubers. I have learnt that it is sometimes better to cut, make 30 sec break grab some air calm down and focus on what you was about to say and resume recording.
Also I suggest use either program to record your mice and in game audio separate or 2 different programs to do so. I am recording with Movie studio Platinum for microphone and later editing and fraps for video and in game audio. So I can silence myself while editing without silencing everything else.

As to Diredaffy I have noticed that too that while speaking dierwolf often acts like my 2 year old daughter when she had too much sweets :p It was annoying to start with but now I find it hilarious and take it as a part of his direwolf20 persona :)

@Nefroz also I have suggestion to make add link to your channel in your signature so people have a chance to click it :)

I will also say something regarding likeability and voice comments. They are kind of useless because you can't change your voice neither become more likeable also what is likeable for me isn't necessary likeable for next person and vice versa. So in that matter just be yourself and people who like you for it will stay people who don't will go but you will feel better for it.

Last advice is people who got popular with minecraft started when there was almost no youtubers with minecraft content it is much harder to get noticed so if you stay on less than 100 subs for moths don't give up. Slowly as you increase your subs more will come. I have heard one famous youtuber saying that his first 1000 subscribers was the hardest to get after that he was getting few subs a day. We are doing it for fun and because we love recording but it is nice to get noticed. Also put this bloody videos in some sections so it is easy to find not just in general upload folder for everything!

Yeah I intended to put it in my sig earlier, just keep forgetting TY for the reminder. Yeah, I don't expect to rocket up in subs. Part of the reason I'm doing this is because when I was younger my Mom and siblings would all watch me play various games.

Now days I'm 26 I live with my GF and Daughter, and they watch when they can but it's not the same, so I decided to make vids to get some of that feeling back having people enjoy me play one of the things I'm most passionate about, even if it's just one person I'd say its worth it. On the plus side I get to teach my friends how to use Minecraft mods.

I would suggest giving Dxtory a try. You can separate all your audios out into various streams within the one video file. Once done recording you can extract those audio streams out (say one for game audio, one for mic, another for skype/ts, and so on) and balance/edit each on their own so they sound natural to the viewers in the final edited product. Like for example incase your game volume was to loud in relation to your mic you can fix that. Same with your mic and the audio from your friends on TS/Skype.

One other big upside to dxtory is you can use any codec you want. With fraps you can only use the fraps codec. With dxtory you can use the dxtory codec, fraps codec or what most youtubers use which is the Lagarith Lossless codec. Lags is by far the most superior codec IMO if you have the drive space for a lossless codec. http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html

Your Louisiana drawl ain't got nothin' on Joe Hills Tennessee twang. It actually is possible to change your voice, & many actors work very hard at it (just listen to an interview with Hugo Weaving for an example), but when I say "no silly voices" I mean don't try to change your voice in an attempt to be more entertaining, just use your natural speaking voice & get used to talking into a mic. I am specifically referencing Generic B's patented Hermit laugh, which got so extreme for a while that I had to stop watching his videos, although I have come across a few youtubers that pack cartoon voices, skits, & hyperactive 9 year old into every single nanosecond so much so that the time it takes to read this sentence is more time than I can stand to watch their videos. (...and breath...)

But Nefroz has none of these issues & is actually easy to watch. I will probably even relent & watch his Ag Skies vids in a moment of TV boredom.

Yeah, my drawl isn't as bad as some people down here. I've never wanted to have the accent, but it rears its head occasionally. I'm not to worried about it for the vids gives em some flavor I suppose.

Well first of all you should install doggy talents and make a pet dog early on in the series who will be your constant companion. Talk about him as if he is alive. if not doggy talents at least the little robots from mekanism but they dont really do much. Add a few new mods to the list that arent already in the pack. I would reccomend Galacticraft, getting to space and surviving is one of the most resource intensive things Ive ever done in minecraft thats for sure. Gives you a big goal to strive for. It would be hilarious if theres a space helmet for doggies. Just make sure to disable flat bedrock before trying to land on the moon.

@MacAisling's recommendation made me watch a video of yours. You're all right, Jack. :)

Also, people seem to miss out one aspect while discussing likeability and accents. Check out a couple of videos of @Surgonan from these forums. The near "metronome" delivery makes the accent secondary, puts likeability in the back seat, and makes his commentary as the primary indicator. There's a lot of factors the combine into making the videos. It's a package deal. :)

In the end it's not the medium that's the message. It's the makers of the medium. :)

EDIT: If people are genuinely interested in bees and forestry (and not mutually trolling each other :p ), check out @thornofnight's YT channel

I'm glad you like (not /s) it but I am a seasoned YT watcher (along with 90% of the people on the forum) so I don't a months worth of videos explaining it. Jump into something I haven't seen much on, automation and genedustry etc.

Give me tons of info on those to sink my teeth into.

I have said it before and I'll say it again, GIVE ME ALL THE INFORMATIONS.

LOL, I got a LOT of feedback about my accent in my few vids. I was kind of self conscious of it but that's just how I talk. For some reason people liked it. I was amazed. I'll have to check out your vids. I earnestly respect a fellow southerner.
