I appreciate the confidence, but I can pretty much say that Elo is far and away the better programmer. I won't even pretend we're remotely close to the same level.
When the TE creator (one of the best mods out there) says that, you got to be sure RP2 is awesome. And it is.

About barrel sorting systems, can you do them with insertion pipes? Like Odedex' old one?

You can be sure it's awesome; It's a good mod. Let's say there is a gun that can kill anything, a colt. But this colt ain't exactly reliable. But then you can easily dispatch whatever else with multiple component weaponry. Harder to do, not quite as good, but reliable. Good.

If you get what I'm referring to we can probably be friends here.

Hrm, I feel I should clarify before people get the wrong impression. Both Elo and myself are Electrical Engineers. I think her focus is more in the RF domain, and I'm a power systems guy. My focus is on wide area optimization, supercomputing, distributed resource management, things like that. Minecraft modding isn't really in either of our wheelhouses, professionally speaking, I believe both of us are more familiar with C++ and embedded things. Remember that I started TE to learn Java.

However, Elo has a few years of experience on me, which I'll gladly acknowledge, and when I say she's a better programmer - a lot of that comes from her work with Forge and what we've seen of Minia, NOT RP2. I wouldn't really know where to start to making anything like Minia - my OpenGL knowledge just isn't on the same level.

RP2 is a good mod, it's solid, it's not the second coming. There are just too many outstanding issues for me to want to use it at this point. I feel that it also is in no way representative of Elo's skills as a coder, she can do much better.

Sir, you are awesome.
That's all I have to say.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I thought. While RP2 has its problems, it's not really indicative of Eloraam's coding ability given all the amazing work she's put into Forge.

Which, ironically, her mod isn't well congested into it.

I mean, can RP liquid pipes even transfer liquids?

They can at the moment. Unfortunately, we kludged up the Liquid system in Forge really badly to make that happen. The new Fluid system works differently, she'll need to adapt.

Wow... it's like watching a 4th of July Fireworks display going off in an enclosed fireworks warehouse... assuming said warehouse was perched precariously above a tectonically unstable cache of TNT old enough to have begun to 'sweat'...

I can't even begin to count the number of straw men, ad hoc, ad hominems, irrelevant appeals, and equivocation present in some of these posts. It would be a thing of beauty if it were only a classroom example of the various means and implementation of logical fallacies.

Don't forget false dilemma, it's huge around here.

Meh, in 2 months we will see another tweet that isn't ready yet blah blah blah.

Do we all forget that there is no public Xycraft release for any version of 1.5 minecraft? Why does all the hate go to Eloraam and not Soaryn? Because you see him on Dire's channel?

Maybe because forgecraft has a beta of xycraft but not redpower?

I'm of the opinion that if any modder had as little time to update their mod as it seems Elo has had, then they too would have those same issues, if not more. It's apparent that she is a very very busy woman and doesn't have so much time on her hands as she used to, so it's entirely understandable if you look at it from that perspective.

Thankfully only six pages and not like ten within a day. Far as I am concerned it is an acceptable update. I am in no way worried about when it will come out.

The optimization work is rough, but tbh I was pretty disappointed when I actually started digging into how people write engines. It's sorta like file systems or compiler optimizers: a lot of jargon and mystery and core mathematical concepts, but once you get exposed the space is not that hard. The only field that I feel is true sorcery these days is garbage collection. Mostly because it's one of the few fields that reads what academia publishes the year it is published and acts on it that year. Even Siggraph has a long lead time and the graphics industry is aggressive and well-funded.
