All three are memorable to me as being dropped from my world wondering why people think they're worth having in the first place.
Agreed. Setting up my own mod pack for 1.5.2, so no RP2. No Factorization either. After a lot of thinking, I included Forestry although at first I wasn't going to have it.
If one considers early-game analogous to pre (or early) industrial human civilization and mid-game analogous to post (or late) industrial human civilization, then both make sense.

The sludge boiler causes harm when you are near it, the mechanics are already there for the bat nasty causing harm stuff.
