Just a question, but why do wooden tool rods give better durability when combined with stone? Surely stone is better.
Wood has a 1x handle modifier meaning it doesn't decrease or increase the head durability. Stone has a less than 1x multiplier. I think 0.7, can't look now. That means you get only 70%of the head durability. Handle modifiers mean a lot. Look in the red book for info non each material

Ok, thanks for the info, now I need to look into more exotic materials for my hammers :)

I blame that on my OCD, I made everything else with that combo, I can't change that now for the cleaver

So I know you did the clever with all thaumium for uniformity but why not use thaum, paper, cobalt on all your heavy tools? Thaumium + paper = 2 mod slots, same as decked out thaumium right?

Also which capacitor do I need to use for the RF mod?

Leadstone works just as well as the higher tiers.

Well doesn't it reduce the overall RF the tool has?
You can use a high tier capacitor, charge it up then slap it onto the tool. Once you run it down past a certain point you can't recharge it to that higher capacitors level. So leadstone is best.

At least that was the mechanic a few weeks back when I tested it.

Because the RF upgrade gives a set amount of power regardless of which capacitor you throw at it. Basically, it is one upgrade, not one upgrade for each type.

And it's always best to use the potato battery because it comes with a flux charge incorporated already. Any regular flux capacitor has to start at 0 and be filled.

It really seems like it would make more sense for the capacitor used to affect the amount of flux the tool can store. Like maybe with potato you would only get 50k, but with the highest tier one you would get like 600k.

Btw can someone explain to me why alot of people use mannylyn for pick? Cobalt is much batter for speed... Is it because of dire? Lol

potato capacitor cannot be recharged, can a TiC tool with potato capacitor be recharged?

Broadsword with manyullyn blade, obsidian rod, and paper guard. Repair, sharpness, durability, looting, life steal, and beheading are nice choices.
Life steal and fire aspect dont go well together as you cant heal off of the fire damage.
However, looting and beheading are very good against withered skellybums.

Did anybody compare the power consumption for an RF upgrade versus the IC2 upgrade?

I'm still using the IC2 upgrade for the tools, since the last time I've tried the RF version it was consuming 240 RF per block mined. And that seemed way higher than what the IC2 upgrade uses. Plus, the Energetic Infuser recharges really really slow compared to a MFE.

i don't think that many people have compared the two. because in most scenarios there are people that still use ic2 or people that use RF upgrade because they are tired of IC2 in general.

Pickaxe: Cobalt head, thaumium binding, ardite rod.
Something I use for killing withers, is a full thaumiun cleaver, with max lapis. This lets you get a whole bunch of lapis on it, for looting. Plus, cleaver has beheading. So very nice.
