I wish the book would be less vague about what else other than heads and crystals lower instability lol.

I havent had any trace of instability with this setup yet:

Umm... wow.... LOL

I may have enough heads to do the surround, and I can make the clusters no problem. Do you have more "stabilizing" things below?

I'm intrigued by your pedestal set up, 3 per side.
When you have an odd numbered parts list, you can still technically put the odd one in a middle location...

If you're feeling lazy, just make a room under the altar and fill it with about 150 (symmetrically placed) candles. You can actually go pretty far down, 12 blocks vertically counting from the matrix (and 5 up).

You need 350 candles to reduce it to zero for the most unstable recipes

I'm guessing 150 would suffice for most recipes though

Didn't the light particles from the Arcane Lamp help reduce instability? I remember them doing so in previous versions. Don't know if they got the nerf like nodes this time around.

You can't control their placement so that would have been pretty silly as you'd effectively never have gotten them symmetrical anyway.

I just deal with the instability. My altar is only halfway symmetrical and I have maybe 6 crystals and 4 skulls, and I can handle "dangerous" infusions without much trouble.

In other words, I think y'all are maybe trying a little too hard =P

You're either insane or incredibly lucky, as flux events can easily spiral into item destruction- essentia draining- item destruction- essentia draining cycle of death regardless of resources available.

I did the same as Dorque. Just grab double to triple of each item, put hoppers for each to replace items, have ten extra essentia and you're all set.

Thanks. Theres nothing underneath, never thought of doing that actually.

I agree. You want infusion to be 100% reliable and safe? You want your aspects all automatically piped into jars? Me, I want to play the game. Explosions and taint and goo = fun!

To me, that sounds like more !!FUN!! than fun, but I suppose that's just a difference in opinion and playstyles between people.

Being able to completely automate infusion crafting, that's fun. You can't do that effectively without completely reducing instability.

So I'm pleased to announce that with many more zombie heads and crystal clusters I only had a minor taint issue for creating my Silverwood rod..

One thing tho'.. for some reason no matter how I tried to place them, vanilla hoppers would not deposit their contents onto the pedestals.. I tried the hoppers outputting directly below them and from the side but nothing doing..

?? But thanks for the suggestion :)

Hey congrats, I remember my first silverwood wand, what a mess. I think the hopper suggestion was to catch items that fall off the pedestals. Anyway just wanted to share a word of warning to all thaumcrafters. Never exit the game with a valve tube in your hotbar, you wont be able to log back in.

Oh and theres TWO of the leafy essentia on certain leaves in the Twilight forest, not just one like overworld leaves.
