I have not tested it.
There may be mods that misbehave in LAN mode (it is typically the least tested mode of play for mods).

Episode 7.
Start with fixing creeper damage, and dealing with endermen. Ending with a smeltery. In between, searching for the dark spot. Followed by proper lighting. Proper. Don't worry, it's all taken care of, there can't possibly be another dark spot ...

This is my first time making my own smeltery, instead of using someone else's in SMP. I've got an instruction book, plenty of bricks ... how hard can it be?

Not as hard as it used to be considering that it no longer has to have a 3x3 inner area. i usually only build the first level with bricks made from grout. the rest of the levels, usually 3 or four more ( i like a bigger smeltery. i've built one once that was over eight levels tall and still wasnt big enough to cook all of my material), i build out of bricks or blocks made from cobblestone cooked in the smeltery itself. it takes 2 cobble per brick, 8 cobble to fill a basin, and the blocks can be chiseled and still function.

If an 8 level high 2x2 isn't enough, why not a 4 level 3x3? It holds more stuff.

Now, did I understand what you said -- the smeltery can cook cobblestone into seared stone, pouring 8 cobble into a block drain to make a seared block?

So much easier in most maps :)

Meanwhile: Did you notice that the NEI display in the video's thumbnail is saying "invalid structure"?

I did notice that. It is because you have the smeltery controller turned sideways. Since I haven't had time to watch the video yet, I thought that you might have fixed the problem. As far as I know only the drain and the controller have to be positioned correctly and the drain only needs the small hole to be facing an outside wall. The large hole in the back is nothing but decoration. Meaning that it can drain from more than one side if placed right.

Also, if you haven't thought of it already, add an extrautilies clock---on the OUTSIDE---next the drain channel. It will pulse the channel once a second to pull the molten metal out of the smeltery unless it receives a redstone signal. A hopper can pull items from the table an into a chest. Voila! caveman automation.

As for my preference for the 3x3, most blocks must be made from 9 items. So for metals, a full smeltery (1 layer, 3x3) makes 2 blocks. And double compressed cobble can be used instead of plain cobble. You just have to remember to used an even-numbered amount otherwise your ingot-cast or basin gets jammed up by not filling completely.

Oh, I got it to work alright. I still have no idea how to drain from more than one smeltery tank though -- if the small side of the drain has to be on an outside, doesn't that mean that the large side has to be on the inside? In other words, an "outside" will correspond to only a single inside.

Yes, I forgot about the "one layer = one block/ingot" feature. 9 oreberry bush droppings give one ingot.

If you lay the smeltery out like they do in the book, you will have 8 corners. put the drain on one of the corners, and put channels on both available sides of the drain block. the same holds true for 2 smelteries but to get it drain from both, the smelteries must share a wall. put the drain on the shared wall. you can't drain from 2 (because there is only one side facing out) sides any more but you will draw both of them.

Once I realized that the smeltery controller cannot go in the corners (because, which smeltery does it control?), I figured nothing could go in the corners -- which one would it drain from?

8 corners? ... there are 4 lights corners.

I'm not a huge fan of oreberries. the number of bushes you need to get a good reliable output is way too high for me and makes them---for me---unusable except in an emergency. I don't think they live up to their press.

When ever I try to put in Speed Upgrades in the Automatic Sieve my game crashes. It does this when I shift click and putting them in normally. Anyone know why this is happening?

Crashed again. Attempting to hook up a hardened fluidduct to a magmatic engine. If it has corrupted my save again, i'm not playing this pack any more, even though I have a backup I can load in.

Hi pndragon! Sorry to hear that. I have already uploaded the version 0.22 to FTB, it is waiting for approval by admins to sync to the FTB servers, this version will fix various problems regarding crashes. I updated all mods to their latest recommended versions. And included aroma backup also.
Please remember that this ModPack is at beta stage so frequent crashes are expected. But if you wish you could wait to play it when it becomes v1.0 release. Which I think is the next version if we don't have too much crash reports at beta 0.22.
Best regards,

I remember that it is a beta and that I should expect crashes. I just don't have the heart to do all of this again. This was my 4th restart because of crashes. I had built a 3 chunk by 3 chunk platform out of chiseled stone to make sure I had plenty of room for my machines. I had done a few of the ancient warfare quests and completely finished the ticon chapter (the Beheader is awesome). I had finished the water hoarding quest and had reached a point where I needed power just to keep from having to sift all my raw materials by hand. Otherwise any further advancement was going to take forever. I have watched the videos by Funshinex and keybounce and have noted that they aren't having these problems so I don't really understand why it is happening.

I'm sorry if it sounds like I am whining. I'm not really. Just trying to explain why I am done for awhile.
