Some tips. One, the first thing you need to research is Cognito, Cognito, and Cognito. The only researchs tied to those in the beginning are the two research mastery ones and the deconstruction table, and you need those right off the bat to make research 10x easier. Build a deconstruction table or two, throw in a stack of crafting tables in there every so often, unlimited amounts of the 6 primals, from which you can create any other aspect you may be short on. With patience, pretty much puts research on easy mode thanks to unlimited aspects.

Remember, research must make one unbroken line starting from the first lit node and traveling through all the others in one path and one direction only. Basically, it is like taking a pencil and tracing a path through all the nodes starting with the lit one WITHOUT lifting the pencil from the paper and without retracing your route.

Don't be afraid to throw researches away. If the path you need to take is all zig zaggy or would make you have to backtrack (like Shevron's would) don't even bother. The less moving of runes you have to do, the less ink you will have to use. Also, plan out where your runes will go before moving them around. Not all research is solvable, so if you have all the runes that go into that research lit and are still short, toss it.

Making notes on what is need to be combined for the most used aspects/aspects in shortest supply is a good idea. That is one of the weakest bits of the whole system, that recipes for known aspects aren't integrated into the research table somehow. Paging back and forth from the Thauminomicon and the research table is annoying.

You my good sir, deserves an award! The thing with unlimited primals will help me alot, I am currently searching for some nodes in the world to keep the primals up... Any tips on nodes by the way?

To add a question to the post and image earlier, does differently highlighted runes have any significance? For example, in the image there are dark runes and there are light runes.

The reason I ask this is because I had a research, and enough runes to connect all the nodes in a single line. However, the nodes wouldn't all connect to the same runes. Can a dark rune be next to another dark rune, or is it like magnetism, i.e., opposites attract?

The color of the lit movable runes (the ones that light up when you add aspects with the symbols in the middle) does not matter. What you are describing sounds like another case of trying to split the path. either that or you have a blockage somewhere not immediately obvious.

I figured it out. I can't stress enough to use unused runes to block the path if there is a loop.

Whats that?

place some bookcases/crystalers near your research table, and when you run out of points for an aspect, it'll refill that aspect with one free point. now one bookcase or crystal only refills about 1-2 aspects, so it's best to place alot of bookcases/crystals near the research table. you can also place down several other research tables if you don't have enough bookcases/crystals

I always wondered that.

I've been researching a lot, and I've run out of Aer - but I can't find anything else to scan in the environment, in my inventories, and I don't have any more nodes to discover in a 500 block radius.

Is there any way to regenerate primal research points?

yup, through the bookcase/crystal surrounding research tables method.
you'll ofcourse first need to run out of points completely for that aspect before it can regenerate that one point

May I hijack this thread? I just logged on to post a thread with the same topic ....

Why?!!?

If I break the line leading to the right-most glowy dot, it connects itself to the the floating purple rune, and vice versa.

Cannot figure out what the hell i'm doing wrong. For the record, I did move the unconnected runes around. No biscuit.
I guess the right-most node is the starting node?
Looks like you've missed one aspect.
There's always the same amount of runes of each aspect - 2 in this case - and i found exactly two of the rune I marked here:

four runes should be enough to cover the big gap on the left
what are/were you researching?

Did you input the same aspect that you started the research with? It took me a while before I realised that was possible.
