Yeah, let's create even more drama by posting comments to and from both forums. He has a very good point: no one knows all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes so let's not pretend we know everything. So let's focus on playing minecraft with awesome mods instead of pretending one modpack is 'better' than the other.

Almost becoming a war of religions. Both sides think they're right and each side will get heated in their beliefs. (Saying belief isn't meant to goad anybody, I only mean to say nothing has gone to court to argue interpretations of the law for each side)

It's not a concern of the users as we're not creating the packs. Nor should we be converted in martyrs. It's up to the mod developers and modpack developers to hash out any disagreements. Much as the public has no stance with the publisher of books and their authors, it's an argument between them not the readers. So all the holy zealots, paladins, and lawyers may put the arms to rest, pickup a mouse / keyboard and join the rest of the community in enjoying the mods.

And if you REALLY must be one of the "champions of justice" then please do so in true MC style.

Create the logo of the offensive one being blown up/shot at/smashed/chicken cannon'd/etc. by the one you worship. Post video on YouTube and feel your victory! :D

So does tekkit as well as having a few of the devs behind the port posting on their boards. Basically instead of porting forage to bukkit they ported the bukkit api to forage allowing any plugin that uses said api to work with mods.
The people actually making the bukkit API are from forge. Your information is incorrect.

He didn't say the Tekkit devs are making BukkitForge. He said some of the BukkitForge developers post on the Tekkit forums which is true.

The development of bukkitforge wasnt' meant for tekkit, only up until yesterday did the dev, keepcalm publish a jenkins tekkit lite version. The initial API was meant for forge.

Did someone somewhere claim this wasn't the case? I hope not because that would be rather silly. Of course BukkitForge is meant for Forge. That's the whole point of its existence.

Just curious, how did the whole permissions idea for Minecraft mods get started anyway? It seems like all mod authors do, and I respect that they may feel like that, but if I made a mod, I wouldn't care about how people used it.
If it was entirely your creation, something that you have invested a sizable portion of time into, I think you would probably care if some modpack just suddenly took it without asking. I see it as more of a thing saying that their work is theirs, and theirs alone, to redistribute, and decide who can redistribute.
