Ahem:But then he makes it so that you not only have to go into the the GUI to add that feature but craft things so that you have to.
So he makes it easier by making it more complicated.
There are config options to determine what upgrades come as default, the default values for those configs are still being decided but at the moment the redstone control, autoeject, and reconfigurable sides come as default.
Well damn. I really love the 8x and 64x generators aesthetically, but I really don't see myself using ExU much anymore :/Looks like he is also adding a 64x generator also. Those textures look awesome.
RWTema @Extra_Utilities: How does 64x power generators sound?

Everything can be turned off in the config. Not recipe disabled. Actually not loaded into the game. Takes no memory.Well damn. I really love the 8x and 64x generators aesthetically, but I really don't see myself using ExU much anymore :/

My point is that I wouldn't use them, but they look really cool.Everything can be turned off in the config. Not recipe disabled. Actually not loaded into the game. Takes no memory.
Actually, of all modders out there, Tema probably spends the most time making sure his stuff is this least server/lag trouble it can possibly be (him and lemming)8x and 64x generators. WTF. I guess this is for people who build GIGANTIC LAG MONSTER power systems, so they don't kill peoples' servers. Meanwhile, lava power (inefficient), redstone power (better with TE than without), but no other liquid fuel. Really? Really? Bleah.
Yes, exactly. If you've seen how some folks play on ForgeCraft, they pretty much build a thousand of everything. If you can satisfy that kind of power usage with one block, you've done an awesome job of reducing lag. But that doesn't mean I feel satisfied with it. A big multiblock reactor just feels better to me than one little block that you stuff massive amounts of fuel into to make power. Also, you still have to build all the farms and whatnot to feed those generators.Actually, of all modders out there, Tema probably spends the most time making sure his stuff is this least server/lag trouble it can possibly be (him and lemming)
Well, that is true, not entirely what I meant, they tend to design items that even if spammed in mass quantities tend to be server and lag friendlyYes, exactly. Hmm. Seems that Tema may not make them after all due to some vocal detractors. >.<
This is why we can't have nice things!!!
IRC is decent, but to any mod dev out there that reads this: REDDIT IS TERRIBLE FOR FEEDBACK. There's a glimmer of good every once in a while, but in general it does NOT represent the modded community well.
What do you mean? Every place represents the modded community well - you cannot dictate what the modded community is and isn't. Reddit is just one of the modder communities - same as the forums, Technic forums, IRC, 4chan, etc. etc. - they all just show a different set of people in the modded community.
Some of these mods make casually playing with them impossible. Those influenced so tend to be limited to specific play styles. Ones that require graph paper and calculators.
You can thank them for some of the more annoying AE2 features as well.
There wasn't much, if any, negative feedback on reddit either.IRC is decent, but to any mod dev out there that reads this: REDDIT IS TERRIBLE FOR FEEDBACK. There's a glimmer of good every once in a while, but in general it does NOT represent the modded community well.
That's stupid thinking. You should listen to all sides - the extremist casuals, the extremist intellectuals, and the ones inbetween. Then, you add config options and set the defaults to what suits your vision best. Then, you expect modpacks aimed at the extremists to do a good job with the configs.
About AE2 - I am one of those who complained that AE1 is too easy, but it wasn't about AE1 itself - it was about the fact it is just too easy to generate huge amounts of energy in Minecraft, especially if you have solar panels.
