But then he makes it so that you not only have to go into the the GUI to add that feature but craft things so that you have to.
So he makes it easier by making it more complicated.
Ahem:
There are config options to determine what upgrades come as default, the default values for those configs are still being decided but at the moment the redstone control, autoeject, and reconfigurable sides come as default.

Looks like he is also adding a 64x generator also. Those textures look awesome.

RWTema @Extra_Utilities: How does 64x power generators sound?

Well damn. I really love the 8x and 64x generators aesthetically, but I really don't see myself using ExU much anymore :/

8x and 64x generators. WTF. I guess this is for people who build GIGANTIC LAG MONSTER power systems, so they don't kill peoples' servers. Meanwhile, lava power (inefficient), redstone power (better with TE than without), but no other liquid fuel. Really? Really? Bleah.

Actually, of all modders out there, Tema probably spends the most time making sure his stuff is this least server/lag trouble it can possibly be (him and lemming)

Yes, exactly. If you've seen how some folks play on ForgeCraft, they pretty much build a thousand of everything. If you can satisfy that kind of power usage with one block, you've done an awesome job of reducing lag. But that doesn't mean I feel satisfied with it. A big multiblock reactor just feels better to me than one little block that you stuff massive amounts of fuel into to make power. Also, you still have to build all the farms and whatnot to feed those generators.

With the new designs of the 8x and 64 gens, I hope the models for the 1x get updated as well. They're quirky, but they really don't fit the Minecraft aesthetic, I don't think. They kinda stand out like sore thumbs.

Well, that is true, not entirely what I meant, they tend to design items that even if spammed in mass quantities tend to be server and lag friendly

IRC is decent, but to any mod dev out there that reads this: REDDIT IS TERRIBLE FOR FEEDBACK. There's a glimmer of good every once in a while, but in general it does NOT represent the modded community well.

What do you mean? Every place represents the modded community well - you cannot dictate what the modded community is and isn't. Reddit is just one of the modder communities - same as the forums, Technic forums, IRC, 4chan, etc. etc. - they all just show a different set of people in the modded community.

Yes but reddit attracts the extremists and MIRC the intellectuals. Not the ones you want to have influencing mods if you are a more advantage player. Or worse a new or young one. Some of these mods make casually playing with them impossible. Those influenced so tend to be limited to specific play styles. Ones that require graph paper and calculators.
You can thank them for some of the more annoying AE2 features as well.

That's stupid thinking. You should listen to all sides - the extremist casuals, the extremist intellectuals, and the ones inbetween. Then, you add config options and set the defaults to what suits your vision best. Then, you expect modpacks aimed at the extremists to do a good job with the configs.

About AE2 - I am one of those who complained that AE1 is too easy, but it wasn't about AE1 itself - it was about the fact it is just too easy to generate huge amounts of energy in Minecraft, especially if you have solar panels.

Great but did AE2 do anything to fix that? Heck it's hardly a problem and more. IC2 being is it's current down trend and all.
These are the things that seem to be caused by those kinds of people. Channels and the new crafting system. Unnecessary and confusing. That's all they can be called.
I will never understand how adding channels to the cable make it in any way better.
And the new crafting system?
And it's not like there are config options to turn those systems back to they way they were in AE1.

They are both from the same complaint. That it was to easy to set up the system. But you know what I bet those people are the same ones who copy Direwolf and others step by step and never use the systems in any individual manner. Of coarse it would seem easy if you fallow a manual step by step. Anything would.

I found AE1 plenty complex. Whether or not I was setting up a tiny system or a huge super giant system. Whether or not it was pre-planned or built randomly. This new system. The cable requires you to plan everything and the crafting system requires a ton of space.
Those are major issues that no amount of tweaking configs can fix.

AE1 was golden. But with AE2... I'm hopeing that someone makes a knock off of AE1.

The AE1 crafting can probably be restored with a lot of Minetweaking around. The channels, IIRC, serve a lot more things than just a balancing factor.
