I've just got a quick questions about the new Infinity pack, how come Tinkers Iguana Tweaks isn't included, did it cause a bug or have incompatibilities, i've been thinking about adding it to my instance but I don't want to if it will be problematic so I figured i'd post on here and ask.

Iguana Tweaks is specifically a modification to an existing mod. If it was added without clear reason, others might ask "What is wrong with Tinkers Construct and why are we modifying it?". Hence why you frequently see this mod added specifically to themed and/or HQM packs.

I suspect you're safe to add it on your own without repercussions.

Thanks for the reply Pyure, the main reason I asked is because it's not like a typical add-on, from what i've seen in modpacks it's usually always added along since it works with tinkers so well and has almost become a standard thing when you have tinkers, I know most people who use tinkers use it as well and have gotten accustomed to having it since it's nice to be able to replace parts on your tools as well as level them and I know i'm not alone in thinking this since I was in bacon donut's stream last night and I asked him if he knew why it wasn't added and he said he also assumed that since it wasn't it was probably because it caused a bug or conflict and he later said that he too was used to having it and it was one of the mods he would like to see added if possible.

You're free to add any mod to the pack should you so wish.

Yea I know and I will most likely add it but like I said the main reason I asked was because it seems to be a standard thing when you have tinkers to have iguana tweaks with it so I assumed that it caused problems so it wasn't added because of that, but it seems they probably just overlooked it or didn't find it necessary or something which I totally understand with a modpack this large it's easy to forget or overlook some mods and also hard to decide which ones to add or not.

No probs.

On the contrary, I think the problem is that your assessment of the mod itself is incorrect. I don't think its in a single official 1.7 FTB pack afaik.

Bear in mind that unlike something like, say, Thaumic Tinkerer which adds content, iguana tweaks actually changes the content (user experience) to a considerable degree. That's why its always added with forethought. Other than that, its a very typical add-on: some packs want it, some don't.

Also: I just checked the FTB 1.6 packs and none of them use iguana either. Like I said, it fills specific roles. All packs most certainly do not have it.

Yea I get what you mean pyure but that's why I said it's not like a typical add-on and I didn't mean all packs have it but nearly all of them i've played have I honestly can't remember the last time I played a pack that didn't have it but that's actually probably because I mostly played packs on atlauncher and technic, and actually come to think of it i'm pretty sure the last time I played a pack without it was an ftb pack, maybe the ftb pack developers just aren't really fond of it or don't think it fits their packs well which I understand

You're missing the point sir.

The FTB designers like the mod just fine. They like it a lot. @Jadedcat for instance is a part of the FTB team but she uses the mod in her non-official packs, such as Agrarian Skies.

As the team migrates more towards strongly-themed packs, we may see more addon-mods like these where they're suitable. For packs such as Infinity however, which is more of a kitchen-sink/showcase pack, it makes less sense: you can't add it without breaking another mod's (Tinkers Construct's) original content.

You obviously enjoy more themed packs (just like me), so it makes sense that you would have encountered mods like these more often. :)

Considering ITT is partially made for me and my packs ...its safe to say I like the mod ..... :p

The main thing with ITT is that it's very much a thematic mod for boosting the difficulty of toolmaking. It doesn't work in kitchen sink packs because there are too many mods that add alternative tools that would circumvent the progression found in ITT. It's primarily found in themed packs, generally with a more 'hardcore' feel to them, where Tinkers is the only mod that adds new tools, or alternative tools can be Minetweaker'd to later in the game.

I don't think it's a good for for Infinity: kitchen-sink packs are more designed for exploration of different mods than a hardcore challenge.

I've been watching the Forgecraf2 server series by DW20 (1 episode out so far but many streams) which does include the Iguana Tweaks...

I agree that it looks intriguing and perhaps doesn't belong in a "Kitchen Sink" pack... it also may be a bit overpowered in the way you can build a simple flint tool and randomly improve it by using it. For example, I saw DW first get a couple of Redstone and an "XP gained" bonus in just a little time. He than made a shovel and got diamond of all things on it :p

Having said that, I may add it to see how fun it can get... I just need to decide if I want to experiment on DW20 or Infinity.

Yeah I saw Forgecraf2 server series by DW20 yesterday and I do like how CPW did the config for Iguana Tweaks. I would like to use the same Iguana Tweaks config they had in Forgecraf2 in the Infinity pack.
