So the argument of resources to make AE2 disk vs RS disk is valid. First a 64k disk for AE will hold over 1/2 a billion of a single item. A RS 64k disk only hold 64,000. So you need 8 RS disks to equal the storage in one AE 64k disk. Of course it take a LOT more resources to make 8 of those disks.

Here is a write up of the 1k disks:
  • AE2 1k disk takes: 3 iron, 8 redstone, 9 certus quartz, 4 glass, 1 gold & 1 silicon
    • This disk will 4096 of a single item.
  • RS 1k disk takes in FTB Beyond: 3 iron, 4 redstone, 1 nether quartz, 5 glass, 4 silicon
    • This disk will only hold 1024 so now multiply this by 4 to equal one AE 1k disk.
    • Which equals 12 iron, 16 redstone, 4 nether quartz, 20 glass, and 16 silicon
And keep in mind that each RS silicon is a nether quartz.

Agreed. But unlike certus I can go into the nether for about 20 minutes with a normal pick and come back with a full inventory of Quartz. Make that a fortune 3 pick of some flavor and that cuts the time down by at least half.

It may hold more in general, but the fact that it can only store 63 types of items makes it practically pointless unless you're not using storage drawers.

True. AE makes a very poor mob farm storage but RS gives to a while to go do stuff before having to stop and clear the chaff.

And in modded the amount of items you get is stupid. So AE with its higher storage amounts helps a lot. For instance, FTB Beyond: Ender Dragon Woot Farm. Each kill gives about 150 items. RS would quickly get full under that kind of amount. Particianed AE drives would effectively never get full.

Well, that's why External storage exists. A quantum barrel and you're good forever. Also, that's a very situational instance, for the most part, you get a massive variety of items, with many items that's you'll only have 2 or three of. For example, there are 16 botania runes, most of which you'll only have a couple of. So you're waisting thousands of items of space.

TL;DR RS disks may be smaller, but the lack of an item limit means you'll actually use them to there full potential

Ehhhhhh..... a particianed cobblestone ME drive bay can hold like 5b cobblestone. Which is double the capacity of a quantum storage unit so the drives are better.
