I wanted to add something here. I really just don't like how almost any issue with shortage of mats in game seems to come down to 1) Mystcraft Ore worlds or 2) just make inifitate power and use UU Matter.

Both to me just is to close to cheating I don't mind stuff like the whole lava thing I got going which I'm getting my lava from the overworld not even pumping the neither for. But Mystcraft ore worlds just seems a bit cheap to me and UU Matter just feels like creative mode. Any time you can say OH hey I got this end teir item after a days work just cheapens the whole thing to me.

But that is just my personal play style. To each there own.

EDIT: Case in point. I'm sick in the head. I am enjoying dark souls solo.

No pics today. I ran out of lava and had to move my pump over to a new field under my HQ. Also ran into an issue that forced me to reinstall FTB. So no real progress today before heading off to work. I do have about a stack of gold storage blocks though so thats a plus.

6-8 months ago I thought most mods were cheaty when I played vanilla with only Rei minimap. Then I tried tekkit, liked it because of all the new stuff. Switched to FTB as soon as the beta was released. After building the grav suit and loving it, I kind of bee-lined for it in my mindcrack world the fastest way I could think of. It all depends on how you look at things. Simply wrapping iron around a furnace to save 25% of coal use is a bit cheap compared to vanilla without even going into using a macerator/pulveriser/whatever to double your ores. For me in my mod world, I'll play within the mod rules and tools to achieve whatever arbitrary goals I have. The only things I'll avoid are the blatant exploits like the iron ingot doubling method that's possible through interaction of a couple machines.

I guess my point is play however you like as long as you enjoy playing

Agreed hence the to each their own.

I will never see myself ever liking UU Matter or using something like EE simply becuase it seems to easy. But that is just my personal choice and I try not to bash others for theirs.

I'll be honest I don't mean to but sometimes how we say things can come across poorly.

OT: Me too. So far it has been a lot of prep work getting mats for everthing. but im coming up on my weekend now and hope to knock a lot of it out in the next two days.

pumped dry another lava lake working on a third. Man I really don't want to go the neither route for lava I really don't. I think I might put a RP pump or two down under the HQ and pump the remote lakes into the main chamber so I dont have move the pump as much.

You know, this is tempting me to make a challenge map in which the ONLY means of getting materials is a nether spawn, an electrolyzer, and a centrifuge and a Minium Stone. Can you still get copper and tin out of a minium stone?

Yeah I don't think I can swing the grav suit anytime soon.

But I do want to make a little frame shuttle miner ship something say 18x18 just big enough to hold 4 IC miners on its corners.

Slightly off-topic but if you happen to get that miner frameship working, post a nice how-to. I've been dabbling with a design in a creative mode world but its been giving me so many problems....

LOL yeah the frame thing is going to be .... a challenge. I've only ever got one to work and only to move one direction.

Soo yeah all that and I got about 2 stacks of gold storage blocks. Thats nothing to sneeze at but even converted to covers thats like just the outter edge of the base for just 1 level. Yeah I need more lots more. And I'm spending WAY to much time hunting down lava pumping it back to base. Getting side track wanted to collect all that exposed ore. So I called up Satan and ask him what to do. After getting a verbal smack down he told me I just need to go to Hell.

lava in those amounts truly does require the nether/mystcraft to really work out, but hey you certainly tried. might i recommend renaming the pump station to "The 'Out of options' pump station"

Yeah... Honestly I feel the reason why things take so much lava is because of how easy it is to get from the neither (to bad they just did not make Neither Lava a different item). And with the change on the cost of making neitherack to lava it has ended up becoming really the only option left.

Well there is the lets build a huge solar farm to melt down rack... And I could do that. But the math for use RP to do it makes the size down right insane next would be wind farm much smaller but still to make the amount needed in a reasonable we are talking about something on the scale of about 8 wind farms with 16 turbines each.

So yeah... then theres always IC2/GT solar to melt rack but I really dislike those solars from a play style point of view.

Yeah but I hate myself for building it in the first place. Once I've gotten what I need from it I'm going to blow it up and pretend it never existed.

64 lava gives 6 electrum, macerate into dust and centrifuge again into 3 gold & 3 silver dust

So 64 lava for 3 gold.

Glowstone dust is actually a better conversion- 16 dust for 8 gold & 8 redstone.

Basically this. You actually get a bit more from the copper to which can be reprocessed a bit more. And I would not even normally do this sort of thing but I need a ton of gold to get the protos look. Electrum would work also but it can not be made into micro blocks so gold is it.

To give you an idea I completely emptied 8 large lava pools and many smaller ones from under my HQ. That netted me 90 storage blocks worth. Which is fairly awesome if you wanted gold for crafting. But since that is only going to give me 720 gold covers thats only about a layer or two of the outside. It is also why I'm building the base out of sandstone and only plating the outside for loos.
