I'm starting to think... while it would be crazy I might go over a few chunks and just mass grow some silverwood (I got about a dozen sapplings) and just replace all the glass with silver wood leaves. I would lose the nice veiw though. So I gotta thing about it.
 
Ya that's a tough call.. also gotta remember that silverwoods take FOREVER to grow unless you have an incredibly high aura node. And you would have to keep silverwood logs in spread around just to keep the leaves from despawning. Another option would be to use Autumnwood trees... much less grow-time and the right ones would have a gold look.

I dont think they despawn when a player paces them. I've toyed with them before but I could be wrong.

And it is not so bad you can basicly Aura nuke a place. Go find a high aura plant all 12 and drop a chunkloader down. after a few days you will be swiming in leaves and saplings but the aura will be super fluxed out. So I do not suggest doing this anywhere near you home.
 
Well piss... ok I need to scale this back 8 spawners are awesome and all but so lag lag.

Done... the lag was from both all the pistons firing off all the time and the shear number of mobs and items to get from 8 spawners going nonstop. So Fixed that too. Removed the pistons and I'm using quicksand instead. Word of advice. While working with quicksand bring a good shovel with you. Otherwise when you fall in... well it sucks. Also made it so the mobs are staying inside the spawning field. Yes this slows it down but theres 8 of them so you still get a crazy number of items. If your server/machine can handing it just make it taller if you wanna use this.

Two blocks of quick sand pretty much kills everything. You can not see it here but under that quicksand is one block of air and then a floor of transporters. God why have I never noticed these things I did not know if stuff falls on them they automatic will poop it out to a tube no timer needed like when they are on their side.

They feed into barrels and finally for now a chest. I still need to build the recyclers and a sorter to pump rods and scrap into generators but the basic stuff is in place now.

Glad you finally noticed the wonderful little transPOSERS. Nifty little devices I first used to set up automatic farms before there were automatic farms heh.
As for your mob grinder congrats thats impressive. Have you seen DW20's recent SMP series? One of the episodes might give you an idea how to set that up so that you can select one mob type to spawn at a time, as opposed to I'm sure a quite laggy eight.

When you say transporter I assume you mean transposer?

ok... yeah... Domes suck. I think next time I'll have a turtle do this.

But Hey I got the basic dome done. Now I just need to plate it.
And build the inside.
and build the extras on the outside like the spire thingys.

But hey I got the basics done. Just went and finished it all with sand stone for now I can always punch holes and add glass based on how the inside gets done.

For your mob trap, have you considered just a simple drop trap? It should lag much less, as every mob will only live for a second or two. You'll only need to make a separate farm (or keep the one you have) for chicken and blazes.

Looks great!

If you think domes suck, you should try oval domes..

Sandstone for you is stone brick for me :) As for the glass, if you want to bulk swap out for it, Wand of equal trade works miracles!!

Yes... I went with quicksand for two reasons. One I actually wanted to slow down spawning. Two it allows for a vary compact setup. The whole mess is less then 10 blocks high. Compared to a drop system that would need to be 20+ and the chickens would live.
 
So I started filling in the base floors. I ripped out the old lava system thanks to my pig man shard.

I wanted to get the floors done even if they are empty as it will make expanding easier down the road. I also wanted to get started on actully build some of the needed parts like storage and sorting. Move my machine room from my old base. Right now everytime I need something I dont have on site I got go about 4k blocks to get back to my old HQ. So I want to get moved in soon to help with the rest of the build.

Orginally I was going to have 6 floors 4 blocks (+1) each but I decided early on I liked 5 (+1) better. This cuases me to have a half floor on the top. I put it in at first but then ripped it out just did not like it. Right now I plan on making the top floor the farm area. Need to bring my golems over and set that up still. While working I figured out an awesome spot for my twilight forest portal. Just need to figure out where I want my neither portal.

All in all it is coming along nicely.
