Firstly, I hope he did because over a year is a long time trying to put a modpack together :p

If you're going for Steampunk, Thermal Expansion is a mod you really shouldn't be using - the closest it comes to steampunk is the steam dynamo. I recommend you go for Professor Flaxbeard's Wonderous Steam Power - it's pretty much perfect for a steam-themed pack and is capable of ore doubling, furnace powering and even adds an upgradable powersuit that runs off steam. If you're unsure about Archimede's Ships, it might be worth looking into the config to see if you can force the ships to require steam engines to move. If that's possible, then I'd say it's a good fit.
Haha yeah. i see what you mean. when i looked at using thermal expansion i was looking at all the ore blocks and more for just a look of the world. but like it is there were just problems so it had to be removed anyway. Ill take a look at that mod you listed Though. it looks really interesting. thanks! it seems like its for 1.7.2 or higher but it really does seem cool. may have to upgrade all my stuff for it. ive also been looking at a floating island world generation mod but with it id have to get rid of plenty'o'biomes. i dont know. making like a floating steampunk world would be interesting

It would be awesome if one of the gas mods added gas-powered lighting. =)

I like your list, OP, it's pretty close to what I have in my own similarly-themed pack. I went with 1.7.10 though, apparently because I enjoy suffering, but also because of Flaxbeard's excellent steam power mod. I've got Logistics Pipes too, against my better judgement, because I have always loved the idea of it. Things whooshing all over through pneumatic tubes feels steampunk to me.

Haha. yeah. but even with the 1.7s and the new 1.8 i feel like 1.6 is still one of the big ones with all the mods. some of the mods i have i feel like im going to just use on 1.6 until they update. i would like to get into the newer updates of minecraft with these mods so that i can get some like the ones you listed

I love steampunk myself, and what I normally do if I am in the mood for a bit of steampunky ftb is just play a normal pack with a steampunk texture pack and come up with fun ideas to how each of the more advanced blocks, now "steampunked" work :p

I know this may not be what you are looking for, but I just felt like throwing in my two cents

Heres a gas lighting mod i was thinking about which also adds a little more to the survival aspect. http://www.gamespot.com/minecraft/forums/glenn-s-gases-mod-1-7-2-1-6-4-31207958/ It also makes it so that u need to keep replenishing them which is interesting.

Haha. so lets see. this is the list of Mods I have in this
>Carpenter's Blocks
>Statues Mod
>Tinkers Construct
>Autoutils
>Ruins
>MiniMap
>RailCraft
>TSteelWorks
>PressurePipes
>ExtraTiC
>Biomes'O'Plenty
>Better World Generation
>AirShip
>Glenns Gases
Thats it so far. As I add some mods I find that others are incompatable with them and it makes the game crash having both of them there so Iv'e had to choose between one or the other. These mods listed all work together though so its pretty good so far. Can someone see if all of these are updated to 1.7.2? because if all or most are then that would mean i could add Professor Flaxbeard's Wondrous Steam Power and it would be pretty much a complete Steampunk Modlist. I took a look at that Logistics piping but it needs Buildcraft to run which is a little too hightech i feel for a steampunky world.

As far as I know all those mods are on 1.7.10, but you can look here to check whether they are:

I think I would enjoy a mod like that, perhaps with less deadliness. ;) I will have to put it on a test world so I can see what config options exist to tone down the lethality.

As far as LP being too high tech because of Buildcraft, I'd counter that BC generously lets you disable most of its machines and all of its world generation. The assembly tables and lasers can remain your well-kept secret. ;)

Ive managed to get most of them but problems with tinkers construct because without tinkers steelworks which isnt updated tinkers construct wont work with some of the other mods. theres like 1 other mod but it isnt quite as important and i could have done without it but i really want to be able to use tinkers construct. most the rest work on 1.7.2. so far i think ill stay with 1.6.4 but it it doesnt look like the maker will be porting it over so I'm kinda stuck.

I am pretty sure ephys has a 1.7.10 port of Steelworks, you could check into that.

I have no agenda to promote 1.7.10 to you of course, I just decided to try it because of Flaxbeard's and because Bibliocraft added grandfather clocks. XD

XD. haha. its fine. i use 1.7.10 for other stuff. the computer i mainly use tho has 1.7.10 running much slower than earlier versions so maybe when i can upgrade my computer ill see about it. I might have to look for an alternative to it but i really want to use it after looking at it. or i could have someone i know personally try doing something with it for me. so that it works.

I just really hate seeing some of the awesome stuff that 1.7.10 has compared to 1.6.4. No way I could stay on 1.6.4 what with AE2, Thaumcraft 4.2, Ender IO, Witchery's new toys...

Give me all the shinies!

Oh wait... Haha. 1.7.10 works fine for me. It's 1.8 that doesn't work. I guess I'm going to have to do this then. Yay. Haha. Now I'm excited to see what I can do with this. :p

Fastcraft mod has really made a huge difference for me in making 1.7.10 faster. But I don't know whether it will continue to be updated now.
