It's fine, if modders don't want people to test their mods unless they pay for beta access then so be it. Don't call it a perk, it's not, paying for beta access is what it is.

I won't link to the CoFH Patreon, as that'd be way too self serving, but I just revised it last night and will post this snippet:
If you're here, hopefully you already know what we do. :) Due to popular request, we've opened a Patreon! At this time, we don't have any formal goals or Patron perks, as the focus is to create as much good, quality, mod code and API as we can.

Having said that, we will put up a promise: We will never feature-gate.

If we have the inspiration, the capability, and the time - we will add the feature. We will never hold it hostage behind a monthly donation target.

Likewise, the source code visibility for our mods will also never be held hostage behind a monthly donation target. We'll either make it visible or we won't, but money won't be changing that.

I feel the same way about beta access, but didn't put it up there.

In all reality, yes it's basically paying for beta access. The difference is the how it is being done, which is a legal thing.

I feel the same way about beta access, but didn't put it up there.

I agree, which is why I offer a server to play on for my pledges. I also explicitly state that I will never charge for any content I release be it modpack, mod, or plugin (that would include behind an early access paywall.)

Off the topic a bit, @King Lemming, can you give us an idea when TE 1.7.2 will be available?

We're expecting that 1.7.10 will be out soon. So there will probably never be a 1.7.2 version of TE. If I'm wrong about this, and there happens to be a large delay with 1.7.10, then who knows.

I wouldn't count on anything out before July. There's a lot of polishing left to do, and we're taking the opportunity to redo lots of everything.

I would not care how long you waited for 1.7.10. I would prefer waiting to do any real 1.7 work until a stable Forge with the async chunkloading patches from Blood is released.

Just to be clear, there will never be a 1.7 version for Thermal Expansion?

You asked about 1.7.2. Unless 1.7.10 is delayed significantly, we're going to be releasing for 1.7.10.

(Note: 1.7.10 and 1.8 are not the same thing. 1.7.10 is almost ready. 1.8 may be next year.)

EIO has farms?
They were added for 1.7. I don't know if they're backported. They were added in the last week or two IIRC. There was a pic gallery on the reddit showcasing them as well.

Nice! What kind of farms though? And how do they work?
