True that. But still flying in the Twilight Forest lets someone avoid a lot of the fun traps and puzzles which takes away a bit of the point of many of these boss monsters.
As someone who has been obsessed with the Twilight Forest since I started playing with mods (a very, very long time ago), I disagree.
Edit to add: Flying anywhere allows you to avoid monsters and dangers.
I suppose part of the issue could be the crafting recipes too. 8 planks in a box shape makes a chest, makes some sort of Minecraft sense, and various ingots/components make a machine, but if that recipe doesn't include some sort of motor (or even a piston...), or some sort of circuit/control board (comparator?), how does it do the "magical" stuff like auto-eject? Other mods are worse for this, as mentioned by someone else earlier.
Sure the 3x3 grid is restrictive when trying to make recipes, it's difficult to get a good middle ground, with either insanely cheap like CC, or insanely involved like GregTech. Both extremes of the scale appeal to players.
Eh, crafting recipes don't always create balance, and often times an expensive crafting recipe is just a cheap way out. Also, if the 3x3 grid is restrictive, why not just make a crafting table that is bigger?

Makes sense, GalacticCraft does that for making it's rockets. You could also treat it as progression. 2x2 makes some basic stuff, crafting table allows 3x3 and more advanced stuff (and where minecraft then "stops"), a tech mod could progress to 5x5 or more.

Since when did GalactiCraft start doing that?

Also I love that idea of progression.

It has it's Nasa Workbench for crafting the rockets. Basically a big crafting table with specific slots for specific components. Can't imagine trying to make a rocket in a 3x3 grid...
I haven't used GalactiCraft since the 1.5.2 gt/ngt packs came out, so it may not have been implemented yet. Then again, I also only played it in creative mode just to muck around on my friend's server :p

That's it basically. But it's a concept beyond the 3x3.

yes but any other way to achive fly has some cost power wrmor is energy, thaumcraft vis and later on extrimely expansive items. With morph you can fly almost instantly at no extra cost. Even if it was cool down ability that would be better.

Morph is just a "fun" mod, depending on what you want to achieve personally, you'll either love it or hate it. If you are someone who likes a sense of progression, or balance, then disable it from the pack, and don't go on servers that use it.

Configs, that magical realm of strange wonders and hidden treasures, the one place many players don't dare adventure :p

From what KL has said in many posts, TE is a "Build On" mod, more so than an add on @Golrith. At this point RF is a stable and code efficient energy net that any mod can tap into and build with. To those that say it boring, well that's kind of the point. It's there to be used by other mods. TE, well the RF api anyway, is the vanilla ice cream. You're now in an ice cream parlor with lots of flavors & toppings. You order a vanilla cone and mocknit for being simple yet you have more options?

For shame! :p

I'm aware that TE is now really a demostration mod for RF, but originally it was an addon for BC. I'm not shamed, I like TE and don't find it boring. I use TE and Mek hand in hand, and they work well together. Just some design decisions that I question, such as powerless machines.

Now I'm gonna jump in. I like TE for the simple power system and Tesseracts (cuz TPPI buffed EnderStorage recipes) and I prefer Itemducts and Fluiducts to cloogy BC pipes. Mek is really nice, because ore tripling is not an ordeal.
My stance on IC2 is that it's not as go-to anymore as it was in packs like Tekkit and older. I appreciate the end-game it adds in collaboration with GT though, after spending an hour on Saturday crafting an AESU to power my Mass Fabricator and friends.

And all this talk about RoC makes me sad, because TPPI doesn't have it. D:

I haven't used IC2 in a while, but i personally like the feel of it the most out of the tech mods- visually very clean, industrial, without the garish textures of other mods, very clear and fundamental functionality for most machines, cool gadgets that make progressing rewarding, and a fair tech progression that didn't accelerate into "can have all resources forever".

That said, the mod has basically turned stale and enclosed, with the main developer disappearing and gregtech taking basically every possible addon IC2 could've got. The latest changes weren't great and very alienating* and RF is a much better support for other mods.

As for gregtech, it's just a mod designed to be played in a certain way, and i don't like to play in that way.

*Although i actually like the parts system- it's just a matter of not having incentive to use it.
If, for example, you could use the plates, wires, and casings to make more things more efficiently- armor, tools, decorative blocks, cross-mod crafting, or even as unique multiparts themselves, investing in parts will become a convenience rather than forced progression.
The more universal a part system can be, the more it's an interesting tech, rather than a forced progresion, and you could theoretically make the plates part system using nothing but forge multiparts (in a less efficient way, of course).

Configs also strange wonders and hidden treasure that players have no access to on servers so more than 50% of time. I dislike mod becuase iit. doesn't require me to do anything that I normaly woudn't do. Config option go to neather - everyone goes to neather usualy quite early. Config option kill wither boss you are going to do it anyway.
If there was some extra job I have to do some machines I have to build, something I have to research anything then it would make sens in the form morph is no it does not even on hardest configs hence I am not using I

I understand your dislike of it in a server environment, but if you're on a server with it, then do what you want instead of using it. Yes, there will be others who use it, but it's not up to us to determine how people are to enjoy their play experience. I have a friend that likes the mod and uses it instead of a jetpack, while I use other methods of flight. Sure, it took me longer, but I'm enjoying my flight, and he's enjoying his. That's what matters in MC, and any game for that matter.

Of course that what I am doing but that exact thing can be said about any mod that ever existed so we could just put all the mod in one pack and tell people to use what they want which would make whole idea of packs usless.

There is another type of pack: The all the things pack. Ex. Direderp20, Ultimate, and Monster. These have many solutions to the same problem, and the beauty in these is the sheer creativity that comes as a result.
