Not to go off topic, but was the optifine / Bin display bug ever finalized? Bins won't display what they have, they work fine, just have no idea whats inside them or how much.
Unfortunately this is just some aspect of the OptiFine renderer that apparently cannot be gotten around. I have gone directly to the OptiFine folks to ask how Aidan could code around this issue and solve the problem. To date however I have yet to receive a response of any kind from them.

Yeah apologies for the audio. I *am* in the process of acquiring a new microphone.. so things should steadily improve over the course of the month.

I have a feature request for Mekanism. A configurable setting to control the % chance that a mob will have Mekanism Armour & Tools.

On my server we play on hard mode along with Zombie Awareness and Infernal Mobs. We are finding that 9 out of 10 zombies/pigmen will be decked out in Mekanism equipment, but in 1.5.x it was more like 1 in 10. This equipment makes the mobs hit hard and allows them to survive the day if wearing helms. It's getting quite frustrating. We like a challenge, but all these decked out mobs make it insane and also result in a ton of useless weapon/armour drops.

Thats unfortunate. I was really looking forward to having bin's make my item sorting 100x times easier.

I'm slowly starting to fear that the problem isn't in the mod, but in the attitude of the developers of Optifine...

At this point, to anyone using Forge Optifine is actually worse than normal.

not completely true, I'm using optifine now with forge and alot of mods, and I can't really play without it as the FPS would become unplayable.
though it did require some manual work to actually get it working, think along the line of a fix someone posted for optifine.

I'm using the Moonquest pack so I'm not sure I can remove it. Tried to and now the map laggs like no other and is unplayable.

If I understand it properly, I *think* that Optifine bypasses several parts of the normal Forge rendering engine in order to get its higher performance. They do this knowingly, and do so actually expecting it to screw with the visuals / performance of a number of mods. I suspect that they do not know of any other way around the problem so they just write off mod compatibility completely nowadays. The real sad part is that I have discovered FPS Plus+, a mod that easily doubles or triples my framerate, and it does not screw with rendering at all. I get smoother gameplay (due to the higher framerates) while using it and it doesn't actually hose up any visuals.

Going to give it a try when I get home.

I believe I heard it could be possible to have Optifine be compatible with the rest of the mods, but it'd require a total rewrite of the mod which the mod developers do not want to do.
but everything I know is not straight information from mod developers, so it can be as false as it can be true

Ooh, I'll have to give that one a go! I was kinda leery of using OptiFine since hearing of its compatibility issues, but if this even gives me a couple extra FPS, I'd be a happy camper.

I'd love to read your test results. I'm really starting to feel the strain on my system.

Shame really, as the modded environment needs all the FPS help it can get.

I was getting lag too, but then I realized my ATLauncher settings were at 512MB of RAM lol. I bumped it to 8 gigs.

Close observers will notice that I have not been pushing nearly as many builds recently; 1-2 per day instead of 8-10. Contrary to what most of you would be thinking, though, this is not because of this "christmas" holiday everyone is talking about. I will provide to you all what I have in the workings.

Firstly:

This should be pretty self explanatory. "What's with the "Oxygen" overlay in the bottom-left corner, though?" you may ask.

5O394.png

5O39T.png

Why, it's for a gas mask and scuba tank, silly! These two, when used together (and when oxygen is flowing), will cure you of unhealthy potion effects, as well as allow you to stay underwater for however long your oxygen will last.

This is only half of some of the content my co-developer and I have planned, so be ready for a major update soon :)
