I don't know about anyone else, but I have built so many mob farms in the past that I am sick of them. Is there any chance you would put a quest in, say around when the witch quest opens up, with a reward of a piece of cursed earth or something like a diamond dolly from Jabba? A limited number of uses or having to make all the dirt necessary for the cursed earth to spread on keeps it from being OP. As for the quest itself, your could make it require like heads from zombie, skeletons and creepers. Just something to know you've been doing some fair amount of killing before you get to make a mob farm. Anything is fine so long as it's different and I don't have to pillar up and make another, identical, mob farm like I've done a thousand times before.

I dunno, sure mob farm making gets boring over and over and over again but it is a basic thing that needs to be done, just giving it out for free feels too easy to me...

I can understand that, but if you consider the bunkers and all the spawners in them. And the dungeons with all theirs. This just prevents some monotony and saves a lot of time sink in having to convert either options above into a decent mob farm. Plus with getting a mob farm like this, you can bring it close to base. With the above options you can make the bottom level of a dungeon into a mob farm and get iron/gold/diamond in unlimited amounts because of the special spawners. With the cursed earth method, you just get what the normal night time mobs spawn with. Also, depending on your luck, you can get an activation sigil in any of the dungeons. This would just get rid of the luck factor and it would also stabilize the progression for those who stick to the quests as the progression line.

You can use carts to bring materials to your base and the modpack used to drop broken spawners that you could restore, I miss that.

You can still get broken spawners, if you use a silktouch-pickaxe on them. Though mostly I got broken spawners from these special mobs yet, magma-slime e.g. didn't give me one. (not sure if they are supposed to be all disabled/enabled but something went wrong).

Oh cool is that 100% drop with the silktouch?

I think not, not sure about it though, since I have always borh my pickaxes with me (silktouch and fortune) I sometimes break them with the wrong one, so hard to say. ^^
But I already collected 5 spawner, one of them magma slime (forgot about this one), so it should work on them. Though have to say I'm polaying mainly at the testserver at the moment, so not sure if there is something different regarding the spawners.

I ask because I think I remember hearing that there is ONE summoner spawner and I don't want to lose it...

Really cannot be sure and but I rather say it's not 100% at the moment. To that I don't know about the special mobs like summoner. Like I got mob-spawner from "Skelett mayor" but when it comes to rocket-creeper I didn't get one yet. But support-creeper I have one...
So best go with "Not 100% droprate" for now. Since I don't know if that is actually meant this way.

And I begin to really dislike mytown... so many issues of loosing connection... like when playing a few things from Applied Energistics x.x

Then if I ever find the summoner spawner I will just set up a mob grinder there.

I don't know either. Sticking to the premise that every scenario in Minecraft needs a mobfarm at one point or the other is the mistake itself in my eyes. I am sick of them as well and will try to get around them for as long as possible. I think that there should be other ways to obtain stuff without having to farm amounts of mobs and then again having a ton of ressources at your hands again.
In my opinion this thinking is what causes the massive overuse of extremely rare and difficult to obtain ressources like in gregtech or here in the endgame (as far as I can see from other posts).
Getting out of the usual shematics is what is needed, though I doubt it will be easy to achieve such a thing with the pack so far advanced by now, since it would make a completely different pack in that case.

Other ways to acquire materials would be a better route to take than giving free mob farms.

Karma you should make another trailer for blast off and have
"Syd Matters - Obstacles" Playing in the background, I think it would fit. :D (If you don't know the song is the main song from "Life is strange")

I had the same problem but had 2 stacks of inc and 1 stack of raw squid. Then got 1 seed. Planted it on water, bonemeal it 2-3 times (don't let it spew a squid, when it's mature, whack it and it'll give more seeds than killing the squid for squid seeds.)

Create a pond then make the pond four blocks deep or so (If you make the pond 2x2x4 then the squids should automatically die), eventually you'll get a squid plant then just keep bone mealing/watering it until it grows and you get more seeds.

Not everyone who plays minecraft is also a hardcore combat specialist. Minecraft isn't designed for combat, the mods that make it better in this pack don't counter the mob difficulty (every time i've tried to kill zombies from my door a festive creeper has removed the door, and me) Kreknorite Armor isn't a given, and not that special except for the fire immunity, But I've disabled special AI so i don't particularly care. There are however, all too many unkillable mobs. I got killed by the baby slime (infernal) that spawned from my slimy pickaxe. :p
I'm not a combat specialist either, and I agree with these points. However, one thing you could do different is to not use a door, but instead use some of that darkened ethereal glass inside your base to make a new doorway to fight from. Just mine a 2 block high hole in your wall to the outside, and place 1 ethereal glass on the bottom block, leaving the top block open to strike from. That way you can come and go out of the hole, and swing through the opening when they get close, but mobs gets topped by the glass. It's a good way to hunt in the very beginning.

I'm new quite far in the pack as I began today but I think the worst part is the second morning after the night's mob have died, some eventually infernals with helmets remains and will kill you seconds after you exit. But you can probably feel secure a couple of quests after that as you will have the sync mod giving you resurection.

so... i heard MyFit can give you strength and resistance buffs. so i kited a silverfish inside my base and let it hit me for quite a while, and still no resistance buff. I am currently at 2k damage taken and i would like to know, if resistance and/or any of the other buffs from myfit has been turned off, so are they turned off?

(btw don't mind the avatar, it's part of a joke among friends and I )

Is the intent of the Geothermal quest to have you submit 20 buckets worth of lava, or 20 buckets with lava in them? I have tried to submit just the lava via a QDS and it doesn't apply anything to the quest progress. 20 buckets = 60 iron, which is much more costly than the lava that is in them.

Due to the outrageous recipe changes for the reward generators, Karma thinks that turning in the Iron is worth it.
