Build a void world, build there because it has no terrain, or other interesting things. Problem solved. :p

Yeah, that's one of his better builds.

I hate void worlds honestly. I'm almost 40 years old, and my imagination's not what it used to be when I was a pre-teen. I just started building in the Aroma1997 mining world on this build, and I'm not even liking that too much because the terrain is just flat with holes in it. I like having mountains and forests and things, similar to rhn.

Huzzah! A wise man indeed!

Ostensibly Dire does it for reasons of lag, but then jams everything in as dense as possible and wonders why his lag hasn't improved at all.

Day 13 - A Whole New World

Don't worry - I didn't blow up my planet or have it erased by the intergalactic gods. My base is still there, but I've stumbled upon a secret that led to inter-dimensional transport. Now I can gather resources and build in two worlds at once, meaning that I can really beef up my base. This new world has no monsters that I can discern, and it is always day, meaning that my solar gens can run into infinitum with no loss of power for 1/2 a day like I have on my prime base.

This adventure started when I was randomly throwing together parts on my crafting table. This weird, sextant-looking device that shot out an aqua blue laser appeared. I pointed it at a piece of rock and it seemed to infuse the rock with an aqua glowing energy. On a hunch, I constructed a portal shape, like my nether portal, and *BAM* another portal appeared.

I rushed back up the hill to my house, charged my jetpack, emptied my bags, and jumped through the portal.

As you can see in the picture, this land is perfect. Those shimmering flowers cover the land, meaning I could make anything that I wanted. There are more of the "prima" ones, and since its always day, I can generate mana like crazy. There are also gigantic villages. Here are two shots I took from the air of one extremely long village I found:

Apparently this is a fiefdom - you can't see it in the pictures due to the haze, but there is a large castle with more "important" villagers just out of the shot. As far as I can tell, the villagers in the open village toil away, growing all manner of crops (I found 3 greenhouses) in order to feed the villagers in the castle. They also seem to have some sort of sickness here. I stumbled across one house that was full of villagers all sleeping together.

RVFan1F.png

I attempted to wake one, but apparently their fevers were too high to acknowledge me. This village is only about 1/2 a kilometer from my starting point, so I'll have to return later and see if they recovered. This village has somewhere between 75-100 villagers in it, so I'll have to setup some sort of commerce booth in order to trade with all of them and get the best deals. More to come on that later....

After a brief bit of exploration, including dropping down into a cavern I found, I decided to go back to my portal and setup power generation for this new world. Since it's always day and they haven't failed me yet, I went ahead and setup another bank of advanced solar generators. As soon as I had that up & running, I proceeded to setup a small tree farm and then an auto-converter to turn that into coal. I want to try a boiler here, so I setup a large steel boiler and turbine, and then 2 ultimate energy cubes. Each cube can store 50M RF, give or take. My power gen filled them in under 2 hours.

The tree farm is 21x21 meters, meaning I have over 400 trees growing at any single time. I had to bring in 3 deep storage units to store all of the extra saplings, apples, and wood. I currently have over 15000 wood, meaning I can build anything I'd like. I also brought my digital miner with me. With all of the power, it was able to fill a diamond chest in around an hour.

I need to ramp up operations here. I think I may try to find more of those "endermen" back in the main world so that I can build an Ender Quarry. The digital miner is amazing, but it's range is limited. I also need to setup auto-processing. Currently I have to load my backpacks and carry all of this ore back to Base Prime, process it, create things, and then lug them back. That doesn't work for me.

Teaser: For the next journal entry, I've already started building up a new base here. Pictures will be included in the next entry.

Does your pack have enhanced portals? If so, minecarts work pretty well through those, so you can send them skittering back and forth.

Just a suggestion about the second post you have reserved for updates and stuff, put what you have ATM in it in a spoiler named Crackpack Data, and put a link to the start of the Unstoppable journal.

OK so here's the thing boys and girls: Unstoppable is a great modpack. @Boqzo1 did a good job putting it together.

The problem is that I'm bored with 1.7.10.

I'm flattered with this thread getting close to 1000 views already, but it's almost like it's the same few (myself included) that just keep looking at it over and over. I'm at the point where I basically have unlimited resources and I feel like I'm playing in Creative Mode. I'm playing a little of the Regrowth 1.0 pack on the side, a little Infinity Evolved Expert (my favorite modpack ever), and I'm gearing up for the new Warcraft: Legion expansion that comes out on Aug 30th. (My demon hunter is ready! Also got 12 toons at 100, every single class represented.)

I know that, starting next week, I'll be spending a lot more time in Azeroth battling the Legion and a lot less time in Minecraftia, as I think of it, but I'm toying around with the idea of putting together an HQM pack for 1.10. I've never done that before, but it can't be that hard to do. I've played with FTB Unstable and ATM, and I've watched Hypnotizd's limited play through of Unstable for a different perspective, so I have an idea of what to expect. Now I just have to think up an entire story idea to base an HQM Quest Pack on.

If any of you reading this would be excited about this or have the knowledge to contribute to something like this, comment here on the thread or PM me and let's see if this is feasible and worthwhile.

Thanks for reading along so far all, and I look forward to bringing more stories to you in the future!

I'm so happy you enjoyed the pack! I think you should do what will entertain you. What's the point in playing something to just entertain the people here? Build cool stuff in 1.10 And im sure everyone will want to see it! :)

@Moasseman I'd welcome any pointers and tips. The one I want the most is: How the #### do I get started? ROFLMAO! I've tried just throwing mods and dependencies together through the Curse "create profile" thing, and I can never get it to work if I do more than 5-10 mods. It always hangs on something.

OK boys and girls, the time is drawing near for something new and entertaining. With a little behind the scenes work, @Boqzo1, @MCAdventureCity, myself, and a few others are putting together a server for FTB Unstable 1.10.2 and we'll be posting build journals and maybe even YouTube tour videos starting this week!

For those who don't know (and how could you not know?? you're on the FTB forums!), Unstable contains the newest, hottest mods for 1.10. Applied Energistics is gone, Thermal Dynamics is gone, ExtraUtils has been completely re-tooled, and there are brand new mods for both tech and magic loves both! There are so many new toys that I can't wait to get started!

Until we get started, I'll be taking ideas from any and all who want to see us do things. I plan on attempting the magic route first, but not the normal Botania route. I've been playing with the Roots mod, and I'm loving how it goes, so I may do that first. Stay tuned and let's see how it goes!

Unfortunately, @Boqzo1 has had several issues with getting modpacks to work correctly with his computer, so Unstable & Avant 3 are both out of the picture for a joint builder's journal. If you're still watching my thread and/or just reading it, I'd like to know what suggestions you have for 1.10+ modpacks out there that you think would be fun to play. It doesn't have to be huge with hundreds of thousands of downloads; it can be tiny or even something you did that's on the Curse launcher. I'd like to start something today so that I can make a lot of progress over the long Memorial Day Weekend. I'd even be willing to host a small server if a few of you want to jump on and build with me. It's just after 1pm Eastern time as I post this - let's see if we can get responses and ideas by 7pm Eastern and I may be able to get something started today.
