I got REAL creative last time I cheated.

I wanted to upgrade my world to ultimate and use tree capitator (though now, I think I can do without it). Then it dawned on me, "I bet I could take all my stuff in world A that I'd been playing in for a while, put it in a dimensional door space, and in the new world, hook into my pocket dimension."
Heh. It worked, but I did have to do a bit of teasing.

1. Install the dimension door mod.
2. Make a door in the new world leading to where you want your stuff to be.
3. Make a door in the old world and stash all the stuff you want in there.
4. Copy that dimension into you new world overwriting the dimension you made. Make sure to name it the same dimension number and there's another directory in there you need to change the number on.

Then just go into the door and hopefully-cross your fingers, your stuff is in there. Bearing in mind though, it may involve some tinkering around to get the coordinates right. I jotted them down when I was in my dimension stashing the stuff and if it didn't put me in there in the new world, I'd /tp myself to x y z to get to my goodies.

Next time I'm trying it with a mystcraft age. ;)

Of course, it may have just been less complicated to /gamemode 1 and give myself what I felt i had already earned. But the way I did it make me feel like I was taking it legitimately. :)

Certainly losing some tools or armor is a good lesson learned I agree. However, what if you are fooling around with some high-end GregTech stuff and blow up nearly all your machines?

Fortunately I only blew up one machine and a bat-box so it was no big deal to remake things, but the explosion radius of improperly destroying a GregTech machine is really large so I can imagine what damage could be done.

Sorry, I can't answer that. I wouldn't touch gregtech if I was getting paid to play it.

I can't abide the breaking of machines when trying to move them, so I will sometimes cheat one in if that happens. Or, when I break something i've never used before and it explodes or is destroyed... I don't think remaking a time consuming or expensive machine is good "lesson learned", it's just damn annoying :D

I cheated in a half stack of dirt on my first SSP MC world, and now I can't play it because I feel like it's cheated to the max. Should'nt've (why isn't that a word?) downloaded TMI.
up
Just started an ultimate pack and didn't feel like starting over AGAIN, so I cheated in a simple wood and cobble 10x10 house, with 4 double chests, some torches, and an Iron Furnace. Now I get so bored while playing there, but I don't want to square one it all again, cause I've square one'd FTB for about 5 or 6 times. And the furthest I've gotten was square seventeen, so I want to be at least at square 8 so I can start with an electric jetpack, or maybe square 13 so I can have some spawners up. And now I'm thinking it could be good for my laggy computer if I took out mobs (not peaceful, just no hostiles), but then I'd end up cheating in stuff for me to get Soul Shards, which would probably be the only way to get mob based items.

Even flying around a world Creative Mode feels cheaty for me. Even if I forget to turn of GT Forestry nerfs for bronze and I spawn myself in 2 bronze ingots I feel cheaty. But if I get myself billions of EMC and have a "creative suit" in Tekkit, nope I'm fine. If I use exploits to get myself infinite BC Energy, I'm still fine! It makes NO sense! I can't fly around in creative mode for a good living space cause I spawn in Russia, yet I can have pseudo-creative...
I don't understand me.

In my current world I'm not cheating at all, including turning it to peaceful, but on some worlds I'll get pissed that a, let's say, wither skeleton picked up my stuff and I can't kill him so I go creative, kill him, get my stuff, then switch back.
Then later on I'll need something that has a low worth but I need and don't have so I'm like "whatever, I'll just cheat it in. I already cheated once" then it'll get progressively worse. That's usually about the time I delete the world since I screwed myself over from having a legit world...

I'll turn off mob griefing, and cheat back items lost to glitches, but that's pretty much it. By the time I care about IC2 machines I usually have a omniwrench available.

Oh and I usually use treecapitator, because cutting down trees is just too annoying for me otherwise.

I spawned in some stuff like a wither star or blazerods when I got stuck on those items because that's the part about minecraft that I really dislike. For some wierd reason I don't mind searching for diamonds but when I have to go searching for a nether fortress I really start to dislike the game. Don't know why but the Nether rubs me the wrong way, something about the colors. But that's the only thing I've ever spawned.[DOUBLEPOST=1362727543][/DOUBLEPOST]

The Nether just feels like such a chore sometimes. I think it's probably the restricted movement and huge cliffs you have to mine through. as well as the ghasts shooting you through walls and stuff. It'd be nice if one of the Nether mods would make the nether nicer instead of just adding ores. Like maybe changing the terrain gen and such. :)

Funny thing, I started this thread because I'd cheated in some tools that I'd lost.

Then playing today, found that I had in fact been careful with my bag to begin with, and it was in a chest. I swear I'd looked and it wasn't there. So I tossed the one that I'd cheated in (along with everything in it), so I can safely say that I haven't cheated in items in this game yet. I still have turned the world to peaceful to get some stuff back, so that could still be considered cheating.

I had this happen to be before I think there is a bug where just opening a chest puts the item into it or something i dont know but I lost my lappack once and couldnt figure out where the hell it went so I made another and found it in my Projecttable later. No idea how it got there..

Only thing i've cheated is turning mob griefing off..

Other then that I keep the game on hard difficulty and leave gregtech on hard mode and if I die I remake something. On my last server I would get lazy and if I forgot something I would cheat it in and delete one when I got back home and on this world I didnt want to do that. I've died and lost all my expensive advanced tools 3 times in 1 day and remade them. My friend on the other hand I had to remove his OP priv because he was spawning shit in. Also I guess you could consider it cheating tho that I have forgeessentials installed and use the /home command and sometimes warps.. THo I have really been thinking about not suing warps at all I tihnk it kinda takes away from the feel of the game if you use warps, then you dont get to use so much of the awesome railcraft or even traincraft stuff.

In survival I haven't cheated so far, but I haven't lost any expensive tools or anything while dying. I think I fell in lava once (and died), but that was early on so I didn't lose much there and I've fallen into a ravine, but my bed was next to it so I could get my stuff back easily (after that I got long fall boots and now the ravine is no problem anymore :D).

I do have a creative world however where I test lots of things before actually doing/making them in survival.
