The first thing that came to mind was Gregtech, but I realize as a newcomer to the not so friendly looking mod this could just be inexperience with it on my part. My initial run it with it left me baffled, the idea of making just IC stretch on forever, when I like to branch out in all the mods I can simultaneously was just a sort of...why? It pushed me into giving BC and RP more of a try though at the start, and got me into TE. Technically my annoyance with it lead me to be thankful for it, so I'm going to instead say I would remove EBXL, since I actually did remove that for BoP.

What's the point of this? I would be very happy to find this much posts about removing stuff, but in a "What you want to add to FTB?".
I mean, just fucking disable the mods, 3 clicks, maybe 4, is that too much? Maybe ppl use some mods that others don't, but the main thing about FTB is it's diversity. You can always disable mods, so why argue about this? Ppl is always screaming out loud "OMG EE3 IS OP!!!" and "OMG GT MAKES IT SO HARD" and later they "OMG I CAN MAKE IRIDIUM WITH EE3 FOR MY GT STUFF!! I LOVE THEM ALL!!"

SHUT UP. Fucking play and fucking stop filling the forums with this always present thing.

WE ALL FUCKING KNOW THAT SOME PEOPLE DON'T LIKE EE3, or GT, or *Insert questionable mod here*... FTB developers know too, BUT THEY AIN'T GOING TO DO A CHANGE EVERYTIME WE WANT!

Btw, I do remove secretrooms, it's buggy and i never use it, BUT it's usefull for ppl in servers who play differently than me, or you. LET THEM PLAY HOW THEY WANT!

Even if I agree on many of the points, it still makes me sad. I wish that elo would let someone work with her on it, but I completely understand not wanting other coders on your projects.

I hate to be a sheep that follows everyone else but RP2 has my vote too, with every update there is a uncertainty whether or not we will be able to play it within the next half a year. Which for me is unacceptable.
As said; many other mods currently in the pack adopt some of the holes RP2 will leave behind IF this would be dropped. The micro blocks would hit my world the most considering I don't really use anything else then that and the improved redstone wiring of course. But I'll live if it means updates can be pumped out a month or two quicker as a result.

This may have already been said, but I would not remove any mod entirely. I would however severely trim back RP2 world gen. If RP2 world gen were trimed back to be only the ore-like materials it would likely be able to be updated very quickly. No more waiting for RP for new packs, and really the reason we love RP is due to the tech stuff, not the volcanos. Sure not having basalt and marble might sting for a bit, but the faster pack turnover with RP coming in down the road would be worth it.

If I could only remove one mod, it would probably be GregTech. I don't hate it or anything. I just...don't really use it at all. I don't consider Minecraft a competitive game, so "balance" is utterly meaningless to me. I primarily use MJ-powered machines and have very little EU power generation at all.

Of course, I'm not conceited enough to believe that the way I play Minecraft is "THE ONLY WAY" to play Minecraft. It's all down to personal preference.

I'm laughing at all the RP2 hate, mostly because as soon as it's updated to 1.5, a lot of the haters will start singing praises again as usual. That's pretty much exactly what happened with 1.4. Personally, I love frame contraptions far too much to ever give up RedPower. Other people may have different opinions, but even if RedPower was removed from future packs, I'd add it right back in ASAP.

Also, RedPower is not the only mod keeping FTB on 1.4.7. The FTB team have stated more than once that, unless they're flat-out removing a mod from the pack, they'll wait for all the mods to update so you can start playing 1.5 more or less seamlessly. And RP2 is not the only mod in the FTB packs that hasn't updated to 1.5 yet.
