Well AE is lacking some functions for now. The most noticeable is "Keep this inventory stocked with N of these items". That's what you can do with managers or regulators. But Algorithm said that he wants to add something like that eventually. But AE is awesome, I won't argue with that.Actually, I was talking about applied energistics. It works just as effectively. ANd there's already quite a few redstone mods that work even better than redpower does. Even though it's probably because the redstone part of the mod hasn't been given anything new in quite a while, the mods still do more.

It may have different uses... Supplying Ender Poaches, for example.Do you mean like, so you don't accidentally pull all of an item that you had carefully arranged within your storage disk out?
Because I want that. I want a mode where it always keeps at least ONE of every item in there, and you can switch it off if you want to remove an item. I'm so tired of my ME chests becoming all scrambled and unorganized because I accidentally forgot to shift+right click.

About chest becoming scrambled - preformatter is your friend.
Xyquartz is actually one of the few things I like about Xycraft right now, haha. It's the last vestige of my favorite worldgen from Thaumcraft 2 (and I liked them even more when they used the same model). The crystal ore blocks in TC3 simply aren't as cool as literal crystals growing on the rock, y'know? Also yall need to quit hating on the xyquartz, AE manages to put them all in one stack *glares at other mods* AND they're awesome for decoration / home defense?? No more spiders on roofs??
I think formatted cells have a priority over non-formatted. And I think you shouldn't have more than one cell with the same item formatted into it. But there are always a way to set priority of the storage.Preformatting a 40+ item disk is incredibly annoying.
On top of that, it doesn't solve the problem*. It'll only allow a certain type of item(s) into a chest, but those items can still be scrambled amongst each other.
*- I use the word 'problem' lightly. It's not really a problem, it just bothers me. I like having items in a certain order, and it is extremely difficult to re-organize a chest with thousands of items in it.
I also don't want to sound like I'm being hard on AE or anything. The mod is fairly new, so I don't expect it to have everything.

Okay, let me show you what I'm talking about.
See those emeralds?
--snip--
If I left clicked them, it would pull out the entire stack that's in there, thus forcing me to put them back into the chest at the bottom. If I wanted to get them back into that particular slot, I'd have to pull out every-single-item and then put them in, and then put every single item back in.
Like I said. I am very particular about item organization, and the lack of that particular kind of friendliness in AE bothers me. Arranging data in a disk should be considerably easier than arranging actual materials.
(Honestly, it's not even arranging data in a disk. It's just arranging how it's displayed on a disk. Like how you can rearrange the icons on your desktop.)
You can do that, it's just not all compressed into one block like with the manager. I kind of like how it requires just that small amount of thought and focus to figure out how to make such a system.Well AE is lacking some functions for now. Eh... I haven't used much of the Xycraft machine stuff, but I absolutely adore the Fabricator. It is (aside from AE, because AE) hands down the best autocrafting table in the pack. The way it works is just so much more useful than any other autocrafter.Xycraft. Honestly I'm not sure how it made it in. A lot of what it does the same thing as other mods, for less resources. That's the kind of thing Slowpoke was specifically against when he was looking for new mods. Plus it adds way too much worldgen for what it does.
See, I don't use ME chests. I use a ME drive full of disks, and just have it sort by amount. Frankly, I don't really care what order it displays the stuff in, because if I need a particular thing I just start typing.Okay, let me show you what I'm talking about.

How is that creative mode? You need to put the items in there first. So basically creative mode
He means the search function. If you have a bunch of everything, then it would indeed be very similar to creative. How is that creative mode? You need to put the items in there first.
Yes, but the way he said it implies "if you use AE like this, you might as well be in creative mode", which I take exception to.He means the search function. If you have a bunch of everything, then it would indeed be very similar to creative.
He doesn't want those stupid Greg haters to use that awesome modwhat
