I read on a forum here awhile back, it might have been the is IC2 dead one, that said something like this -- We want IC2 to add new content. Ok, here are some new boats. Not that new content.

I am not having a go at people who are saying that they would rather use thermal expansion or gregtech autoejection machines but I just want to credit the IC2 development team for appearing to respond to their user base and adding new content.

The only thing I think IC2 needs to add (or Gregtech) now is a mid tier generator that outputs at about 128 eu/t. I like how railcraft stepped in with its steam turbine which is definately a cool prospect now its output has been buffed. The only problem is that there isn't really a middle tier fuel source that isn't added by another mod. I suppose it would be a very big update if they added new fuel as well as a new generator.

Time isn't the only thing that is precious. Dare I say, there are even those among us that hope to end up in a place where time no longer exists. And even while we are still alive, there are other things other than time that are valuable.

Another thing I would like to offer to the time is the only precious resource in minecraft contingent. Our universe seems to be infinite (not a physicist by the way) but Manhattan real estate still costs your soul. Space is precious. In a minecraft context, except for a couple of things like facades or microblocks, you can only have one block in one square metre at once. You can only have so many chunks before your server stops you chunk loading your whole base or your computer stops running the game properly.

For those who are fond of pokemon, Palkia beats Dialga in coolness any day.

The only useful thing IC2 still has for me is the induction furnace, because smelting things nearly instantly (without ruining all my power supply because of too many overclockers) is nice. The rest of the (advanced) machines don't do much outside of IC2 stuff, I guess, but maybe having a super macerator for when I want to grind stuff fast could be useful as well. I'm even trying to avoid using IC2 stuff whenever possible (including MPS recipes) so I can get used to how the game will feel like after taking it out, and the aforementioned furnace is currently being powered by a power converter. Tiny and useless subjective wall of text

This upgrade looks good because it invalidates a small piece of GregTech, hahahahaha, and kinda meh because pulverizers are still superior because of the tiny extra yield, unless you want to do things fast. Still, it's a step forward! Hopefully there will be more upgrades with useful stuff eventually, why the hell are there 4 upgrade slots if there aren't many upgrades to begin with

Not necessarily. I've yet to find another mod that does anything like the Recycler or the Mass Fab.
My main issue with GregTech isn't something wrong with it as such, just that there's so much stuff I don't see the point to, whether in machines, some of the mechanics, or just in general. At most I use the energy storage, rarely the Matter Fab, and the Industrial Blast Furnace. Aside from some of the cheaper recipes (Ruby and Sapphire in Energy and Lapotron Crystals) there's nothing else I need or want from it.
I agree with everything except the mass fab. Check out the mfr laser

Requiring more steps means more space, that means being space efficient, more materials, being cost efficient, and more time, that means you need to have focused goals.
Time is the only real factor outside of perhaps a situation where you have space limitations imposed. Otherwise with infinite space you can obtain infinite materials and thus not have to be cost efficient. Thus the only situation in which GregTech will make things "harder" is when you are forced to improvise due to limited space. Otherwise it just increases time and makes things more tedious.

That's all nice in theory but I have a big ass base in 3x3 chunks . Space might not be unlimited but it sure as hell isn't a limiting factor.

Fair enough. I remember seeing that base before on these forums btw. Did you put it on the lets see some bases forum? Its really cool looking!

I know space isn't the limiting factor. Maybe though we should stop using the word precious too. Minecraft is something you do for several hours a week during time that you might well have spent relaxing anyway. Don't get me wrong, I love life and wasting it is a bad thing to do but at the end of a minecraft session I don't feel like I should have been skydiving or getting a tattoo on my face. Does describing a few hours as precious pull the debate out of perspective?

Having said that, I am being horribly off topic.

Yup! I'm quite proud of it, biggest build I've done. And it was a nice coincedence. Another guy on my server got the same idea of building an arcology when we restarted (coincidentally we were both playing SimCity at that time). We both wanted to do the Launch arco (the biggest one in SC2000) but he claimed the idea first so I decided to go for the forest arco instead. In hindsight I'm quite glad I did because it's more interesting to look at.

Well in my opinion time spent on 'fun' things isn't wasted, but time spent on tedious things is. :)

I prefer to build my base on Void Ages, everything far apart each other and having multiple chunk loader loading everything. I care more about FPS than server stress.

I did the textures for it :3
I also do beleive (since player asked for said textures) that when you right click on a side of a machine it will set the North/South ect direction of the side and will only output to that side.

Yeah and it works horribly wrong, I set the ejector to output to the west side and it went out the north side....

One thing I just noticed and was wondering if you'd change?

You spelt "their" as "thier".

Didn't notice till now, but its all I see here now XD

And they derped bobst3r?
Check if its repeatable, and upon which machines this effects.
If it is repeatable, and you have explored it thoroughly, and are using the latest version, perhaps report it?

There's Autarchic Gates for that, and also denoflions DenPipes which has automatic Wood/Emerald pipes that effectively have the 'Autarchic' part built in, so you can provide the pump or extract command to them with any other gate.
About Autarchic Gates - that would effectively make every wooden pipe cost half an ender pearl.
About DenPipes - yes, like that. But in vanilla BuildCraft.

Ender pearls aren't hard to get. Soul Shards plus EBXL's Quicksand make effective Endermen farms, and a few Golems picking up the pearls makes that automatable. Or for those who don't hate it for just that reason, use EE3 to transmute some iron into pearls and away you go.

Soul shards and EE3 are two of the mods most commonly removed because of OP-ness.
What do you do if you're playing on a modpack that doesn't have either?

Make an Athame and go Enderman hunting, slay the Ender Dragon so you can murder them in your home...
Plenty of options. Ender Pearls aren't the hardest thing in the world to get.
MFR also now has it's answer to Soul Shards in more recent versions which even supports mod-added mobs, so that can be used in place of Soul Shards.
