Playing Monster survival, just getting past the early stages to the middle part of the game where I've got a decent amount of materials. I had the bright idea to build a dark room mob spawner/grinder right above my main base because that way it would be chunk loaded.

So I'm sitting there in front of my smeltery making my first cobalt pick when I hear the dreaded "plop hiss" of a creeper landing behind me. I have just enough time to realize that it somehow spawned in my base instead of in the dark room before it explodes.

In doing so, it not only blew up ALL of my carefully stacked iron chests with all of my carefully sorted ores, minerals, and other drops, but also the barrel with 50 stacks of cobble sitting right next to the chest.

Pop quiz, minecrafter. You have 5 minutes to pick up all of the materials you just spent many hours collecting. The wood/iron/gold you need to build new chests to hold all your stuff is lumped in with the diamonds, redstone, mob drops, lapis, and all your ores. And there's cobble everywhere.

What do you do?

have an obsidian encased item refresher from rotary craft nearby. it keeps stuff from despawning.
don't let its power supply go out if you're over that 5 minutes though, then its instant despawn.

At just past the early stages, with an unexpected accident dumping his stuff? Methinks not.

What I'd do is slap down as many chests as I could, stand on the drops, use a lot of shift-clicking and dump everything I could into the chests.

Even 50 stacks of cobble take less than a minute to store if you dump your inventory.

I once had a nuclear reactor and then I put all my Uranium cells in first and then went out my base to make the coolant cells, I died before I could make them and get out the reactor room.... (I was a noob)

Moving my ae system with the drives in my inventory and accidentally shift clicking the delete button in nei, losing all of my items.
That's why you put the drives in a ender pouch...

My best derp so far was shooting myself in the face with a mining laser. If you shoot downwards and then fall, you fall faster than the laser. I also died in the nether recently, and sometimes I crash when I die, and this time I didn't bother to relaunch, just went and played something else - since all my stuff is safe in a grave. Can't remember where I died

I found my first Carminite reactor and noob-ish-ly decided to see what happened...
,,, oops.
Luckily, I was wearing my uber MPS suit, so I was able to escape before the -spoiler- took place.

BTW, MPS is awesome for the Twilight Forest; jetpack for getting around, plasma cannon for getting through the labyrinth, railgun for the hydra and most other bosses (except the Lich - haven't beaten him yet...), and mob repulser for all-around protection.
Just remember to bring milk...

And I just remembered two of my biggest derp moments before I had installed a cooling system into my MPS suit:
1. Summon lightning.
2. Try to charge a railgun... yeah.

I suggest you try to beat the Twilight Forest without any tech stuff you brought there. Most people just visit it when they already got all kind of good equipment, and, well, that's kinda boring. Especially flight, it just breaks the Twilight forest bosses and makes them way too easy.

And a derp on my side, also related to powersuits: Appearently it still count it as movement when you are floating with a hang glider. So I jumped around and opened the glider, not realizing I was building up heat. Suddenly I start burning, and dying, FAST. I think water was never more urgent. Luckily I set up a little lake at my front door the day before :p

I did TF without tech stuff once.
I just had DartCraft's time torch. :p
Also, the kinetic generator for MPS from MPSA is what kills people after the inclusion of overheating.
Remove that and you shouldn't have overheating issue as long as you have the cooling system and heat sinks installed.

Didn't have any cooling but the generator you mentioned... Well...

Well, yes, it was a little grind-style, but I've been to the Twilight Forest before - it's really quite difficult without a way to see in dark places, or to eliminate the weaker enemies so you can focus on the harder ones. But even with the flight and railgun, it takes a good bit of time and effort before I can defeat any of the bosses.
Besides, I have yet to find a better weapon than the railgun: at maximum, it does 30 points of damage. Is there any item that can do more damage in a single hit?

My next derp: leaving several vanilla mob spawners, including some ones for "special" mobs from the Twilight Forest, chunkloaded and alone for a while.
Needless to say, I am now using Soul Shards 2 spawners...

That's what you get when you set up an MFR harvester in a forest, one level above the trees.

Harvester, y u no cut below?

you can use the MFR hammer to see what range most of the MFR machines have.
just switch to the hammer, and it should show you a colored square in the world, indicating the range of the machine you're near
Wow....I uses MFR a lot and I do not know about this at all. Thanks for the tip!

It's more like the harvester cuts all trees which are connected to each other by leaves, a bit like the axe of the stream.

So i was at a friends house playing on his PC, using his account on our shared server. I had logged in using his account to show him something i had made, after i did this i decided to go on a little trip into uncharted territories as we sat chatting.

After a while i found an Ocean... A massive Ocean... An Ocean so massive it was taking a very very long time to cross.

Eventually i saw land mass on the horizon... but oh no... its just a couple of Volcanoes in the middle of this Ocean. At this point my bored brain decided to create a new game that i like to call Volcano Tunnel Diving...

The idea was such as i pass a freshly erupting volcano i have to tunnel from one side to the other before the Lava caught me on the other side...

I was warned by my friend that this was a bad idea, but i was sure i could do it and you what? I was right i got halfway through in no time whats so ever and i was just about to turn "Smug mode" on... When i remembered something... The lava runs right through the middle all the way up and down the volcano doesn't it....

A quick panic followed in which i tried burrowing into a wall to save myself (more like save my friends TC Tools he had on him) but all that did was seal my death in a hallway full of lava.

So my friend can now reclaim his lost Tinkers Tools but he will have to travel over 30 mins in one direction and then find his grave inside the Volcano somewhere... Sorry about that... Derp.
