It's not about recipes. It's about simplicity to set up. Recipes are irrelevant.
Not if said recipes require crafting components that can be only produced by other machines. Then you are turning something into a production chain involving multiple machines requiring a bigger initial investment and power generation that can support all those machines.
One of my server players has told me that my MPS recipes are evil, purely because many of the recipes need machine processed ingredients, instead of just something you've just dug out of the ground and slap into a 3x3 pattern. I took that as a compliment, since my goal was for MPS to be "end game"/"high-tier" armour (using those terms loosely) within the pack.

All of the other ideas are great - do them - but, my advice here is to remove IC2. Take another mod, like Mekanism, and tweak the recipes to make them harder.

The "AlCapella foundation" fully endorses this view. ^^ ;) :p

Ya, of course you can make it harder if you want. :p Also remember, reika's made his recipes "minetweaker proof".[DOUBLEPOST=1399533991][/DOUBLEPOST]
Not if said recipes require crafting *snip*.

I read it as something-something evil people being evil something-something :p

@Tonius11 , come to my arms! ;)

No not at all if an endgame tier machine is easy to setup and hard to make wheres the problem? It did take you a month to get to that point so why shouldn't you have that courtesy.

Well, it seems to be, judging by the OP, that the point of this pack is to have things be complex. TE and MFR are not complex.

World gen has reduced ores by x4

I assume you used COFH right? Well if so, would you mind telling me how you got decimals to work? Because I assume that you did a x1/4 thing with those too, and if memory serves me right, COFH doesn't appreciate numbers less than 1.

And also, I agree with Santa, I've looked at MFR and TE and they do not look complex enough to work into my pack. Also Pnuematic Craft doesn't really have tiers from the looks of it.

No decimals required. I just reduced the number of clusters and also the cluster size. Min cluster size in CoFH World Gen is 4. I first calculated how many potential ore blocks are being generated by default, reduced that by 1/4, then worked out the cluster size, and that then tells me how many clusters are needed.
Doesn't really work with Diamonds and similar small cluster ores, but you can offset that by increasing the use of those resources with MineTweaker.

While TE and MFR are not complex in their usage, you can make them more complex to craft. Set MFR to require TE recipes, and set TE to needing Cogs and Steel would increase the "difficulty" of those two mods. Then if you change the recipe of the Machine Frame and the Cogs to a more complex crafting recipe that needs other machine crafted components, you can really change where those mods sit on the tech tree.

All depends if you are after complex crafting, or complex usage. The first you can do with MineTweaker, the 2nd, you are restricted to the mod design.

You can also make MFR more "demanding" by increasing it's power usage. I personally doubled all MFR power requirements, and x8 the power requirements of the sludge boiler.
