Hello, 1SDAN here. As some of you may know, I'm currently working on a modpack inspired by the likes of Blood n Bones, Magic Farm, and especially BTW. I have been working on it so far for about 2 months I believe, and want to get some feedback so...

How would you feel if:

1. Industrial Craft was included with some custom recipes for harder to achieve automation? (I think this is okay to do, it really was kind of 50/50 unclear on my thread about IC2 modifications in modpacks but GregTechs okay so I guess it's okay)
2. Railcraft was focused on for item transportation instead of pipes?
3. Night was truly scary, where going outside your home could mean death for the careless
4. Instead of mining carefree, inventory weight and custom stack sizes promoted the use of complex rail systems to move ores.
5. Achieving victory was hard, mobs were harder, recipes were more costly, it took a true understanding of the pack to reach the next tier of tools moderately fast, and dying means starting over in a new part of your world?
6. Not really a How Would You Feel but, anything you would hope to see in this modpack

2. PLEASE DO THIS.
3. Random Things can do this well...
4. I believe Peggle had this idea, not the rails, but the weight system. Also, rail systems always = awesome
5. What is victory, exactly?

4 please i want :3 but how would early game work out?

Early game you would just move things without carts. I just mean in order to get enough metals for automation a rail system in your mine is a must.

@SatanicSanta Well, the modpack uses Iguana's TCon Tweaks, so getting from one tech tier to the next takes a lot of work.

All of the other ideas are great - do them - but, my advice here is to remove IC2. Take another mod, like Mekanism, and tweak the recipes to make them harder.

I tried Mekanism, IDK what it is but it felt like IC2 would have more potential complexity. Why? Anything bad about IC2 that I should know about?

It's highly experimental. From what I understand, the E-Net doesn't even properly work, and it appears that the vocal player base here is moving away from IC2 in favor of other mods.

Ah. Okay, I guess I could but I've already ruled out Pnuematicraft, Mekanism, Buildcraft, TE and MFR (I'm just not much of a fan of TE and MFR, I guess they just don't feel like they are tiered as much. Plus, MF2 and BnB already use those so I think it'd be best to go the road less traveled)

As for the moving away from IC2 thing, I guess it makes sense. It has been out for a very long time. I just found it had the best flexibility when it came to basing a modpack around something.

So, any suggestions on mods big like IC2, but stable while still retaining a certain tiering system I can base my recipe tweaks around? I know I could make my own, but when a system's already in place it makes finding locations in the tech tree to place machines easier.

Depending on what kind of recipe tweaking you're trying to do, RotaryCraft might be a good one to look at. I know Reika is against using MineTweaker on his mods for any public packs, but (IMO) RotaryCraft doesn't need any recipe changes as it stands. (I may have read your post wrong as a warning, I blame the bad glasses. :p)

Forgive me for saying this, but no TE and MFR likely will lead to a large loss on players

ye, right now , TE is quite standard in every world, and also MFR machines are quite used

I'll look into adding TE and MFR when I get the current mods I'm working with squared away. I want to get IC2, Railcraft, Forestry and the other miscellaneous mods cohesive first

I suppose. But if we want to get into the topic of underused mods, has anybody ever used Resonant Induction?
Mekanism
RI
Atomic Science
ICBM
Mad Science
There, all the best underused mobs besides RoC, Pneumatic Craft, and a ton of other mods
