With you doing the math it makes it seem easy... I never really thought about it like that. Next map ill probably go that route... Still that doesn't negate the fact that some people don't want to do that so this post is an easy way to get around it :p

Agreed, but at a certain point of "not wanting to do something", it becomes an argument of just enabling creative and giving yourself the matter fabricator.

But yeah, either set up a quarry, or a few IC2 miners, and you will have loads of the stuff shortly. If you find a nice cave system with a ravine or two, you'll find it faster, but that is a lot more work.

I would like platinum added (I've been eyeing the metallurgy mod, and seeing if I can balance it to add more things to find underground) as it would be nice, but in this case ferrous ore isn't too bad.

Good luck either way, and enjoy!

I'm not sure how you anti-logic so well.
Please get off my thread... You clearly cannot understand anything I am saying and you clearly are just out to hate on GregTech
I've tried to see where you are coming from but you are bashing on my advice without even trying it out

The end is hard to get to??
Well, on a server, which I play on, 99.99999% of the time it has been found. Anyways, Endermen are like child's play with the RP2 athane! And blazes? Please. Enderdragon? Get Nano armor. It will take you approximately........10 minutes. Get a bow and a sword, and you're good to go. I am not sure how the end is hard to find or hard to get to. Especially with IC2, it's much too easy.

Yep, 1 single ferrous ore+mercury in grinder will give 1 platnum dust so 36 ferrous ore -> 1 iridium plate.
How does one automate that? Would it be mercury and a ferrous ore sent through a sorting machine? I have the grinder, but I thought I'd do that manually, but eventually I'll figure it out. I just wanted to only have to use one grinder and not waste the mercury on everything, which could *will* get annoying.

Okay.

Make nano armor and athane.
Go to nether...if I don't have diamonds I'll use a block breaker or the Redstone glitch.
Make jetpack
Make Tier 5 blaze spawner (or even tier 4...3 spawners)
Make super enchanted Nano Armor, Sword, and Bow with EXP from spawner
Kill 20 or so Enderboys
Find portal
Enter portal
Kill Enderdragon

I'm not sure where you find difficulty in this. The hardest part is killing the Endermen.

The endermen is the hardest part. After that I can never get the pearls to go where I want them to. Am I doing something wrong? How do you find the portal with the pearls again?

Twenty endermen is not erroneously difficult, you just have to wait from a high point and they come to you, where have I ever seen better customer service.
The pearls don't go where yiou want them to, you go where they want you to.

Right click and follow them?

Thanks man you've helped so much. I will try this the next time I play :)

You're welcome, getting to the end is so easy it should take you a day or less. Ferrous is easy for me to find though, so I don't bother with that, though I've gotten into the nether in about 10 minutes with full nano. Finding a fortress isn't hard from there, and you'll be able to find 5 spawners and kill 24 blazes in another 20.

Each side of the machine casing structure can hold a grinder. That's up to 4 grinder at one multi block structure.
Sorter: You can "program" it to send one mercury cell for each ferrous ore, but if something already inside the grinder it doesn't work...

Does this improve efficiency? Or just optimal for space and material saving?

Honestly, I just change the config settings to drop the matterfab and re-enable the massfab. Although I've never really bothered with the massfab before, I might actually be tempted to try one out, just to help supplement my copper reserves I expend while trying to get the CRCS system perfected.

Some people just don't like change, so of course they're not going to like this mod. Some people just don't like the concept of changing other mod's recipes, so they won't like this mod either on those grounds. Some people don't like it because they didn't like it back in the FTB Beta, and despite the fact that it has changed significantly, they refuse to change their opinion no matter how much evidence is provided. Some are just contrary like that.

There's all kinds of reasons people might dislike GregTech. And they're entirely welcome and entitled to their opinion.

Personally, I don't see why anyone would dislike Thermal Expansion. But some people do. And again, they are welcome and entitled to that opinion as well.

They don't have to be rational on this topic, and you aren't going to change anyone's opinion.

Sharing a way to get more Iridium? Good. Claiming that this is the only thing people have against GregTech? Not so good.

just supply the grinder with water through a pipe and mercury cells. this way it uses water, if the ore isn't compatible with mercury. a second grinder (on the same multiblock structure) for sodium persulfate cells, and you are prepared for every ore.

and when it comes to iridium, how about this:

http://forum.industrial-craft.net/index.php?page=Thread&postID=86662

there is a nice little setting in the config file, where people can adjust the spawn rate of iridium from the initial value of 20 (one piece per 5 chunks) to whatever they like.

no need to install other mods, that might even break the balance.
