Three if you include the oreberry farm and mob grinders in my basement:

The second floor is just an observation deck and space for my bed and portal:

Everything else is distributed across the ground floor:

I prefer my houses to be open plan.

Really good base! :D
BUT THE VANILLA TEXTURES, EUGHHH!
I always use vanilla textures. I want to see what everyone else is most likely to see when they see my base. I've seen too many things that looked wonderful in a texture pack but horrible without that exact texture pack.

That being said, I rather like vanilla textures anyway.

That's exactly what I think: Don't go for themed resourcepacks; because that's not what everyone else it going to see. But still; I use Sphax because it is very popular and the majority of FTB players use it.
PLUS IT IS AWESOME!

Never been a huge fan of it myself. Sometimes there is such a thing as too much bevel.

British English. Storeys. The correct form of the word before you all got your hands on the language. =P

I, for one, am gladdened to see the word used in its proper form. Kudos!

Seeing as the thread is finished and derailed anyways, I could not let this one slide:)

You British thoroughly destroyed the English language hundreds of years before the US even existed. Ok, you had some help from invaders, but mostly it was you. Go ahead, try and read something written in Old English. Heck, try reading some Early Modern English for that matter. This last one was entirely your own creation, and so was the change to modern English.

At this point, all of the English language is a total mess, not just in the US.

PS: My base is currently 4 stories tall, and will probably be more soon. Openblocks elevators are great for getting around. This lets me split things up by category more, and not have to run larger distances around huge floors. That, and just because I can:)

You only really need 1. All of your jars need to be in range of your constructs, such that you can begin to automate essential production.

Having two floors will just help you organize things, but will become a hindrance if you don't consider distances, etc. ahead of time. Also golems & y-distance sounds like a bitch to me.[DOUBLEPOST=1398709835][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, one of my bases had 5 floors, each floor spanning over a 200x200 ish L-shaped floorplan.

I've since become a lot more efficient in terms of space, and have my current one 100x100 square, with 3 floors. I only add the top floor when I need it, the bottom floor is where I run all my pipes/cables/ducts, with the central floor being the "work" floor.

No matter what you do, at least keep all the important stuff on the same floor. It gets really, really tedious if you have to run up and down stairs all the time to get stuff done. I keep my depot, ore processing line and workshop in the same hall, with my bed in an adjacent room. The hall has large, open windows so I can enter or leave in any direction via jetpack. Below it is an infrastructure floor, with power cables strung about. It's not a pretty place, but putting all the cables and pipes there really cleans up the main floor.
Even further below is a "rarely used utilities" room. A library with an enchantment table. A chest with emergency stuff in case I die and/or the base runs out of power (in my case, this means a spare jetpack, good armour and weaponry, food, spare tools and a few fully charged Lapotron Crystals to backup the EU system in case the solar panels go bust). My Molecular Assembly Chamber is also stashed away down there, as well as the base's Chunk Loader. I rarely use these rooms, but they are essential when needed (kinda like seat belts in cars), so I keep them easily accessible from my main base.

I guess I should also add a train station soon, when my "1000-metre-railroad" project gets off the ground.
