Well I did check my single player world and they were all activated, very weird that yours aren't.

For most people they are turned off by default, unless they changed it in an update?

In my opinion, some of them, like those redwood forests, should be turned off. They're awful biomes... bleugh..

I have to disagree with you on the redwood forest Lambert I find it just..well the word for me is intoxicating. When i walk through it i feel like it is when I first played World of Warcraft and went into Ashenvale Forest. Just the haunting beauty of it. Some of the other biomes are decent but the forest one just wows me constantly.
