My friend and I just started playing a new FTB map on the Mindcrack Pack after we had stopped playing our old map. We have three solar panels and as they are so weak I figured I'd upgrade them to advanced solar panels.

Apparently Greg has got his hands on this, too and made it near impossible until very far into the game. For those who don't know it now requires both iridium and uu matter (from a matter fabricator which itself costs a bunch of iridium and other expensive items).

So, why is this Greg guy so sadistic to us poor FTB players? I actually agree with him in general as I think the Gregtech mod adds a whole other aspect to the modpack, which is why I don't want to uninstall it. And is there a way I can change this one recipe to the default IC2 recipe?

The harder recipe in advanced solar panels was made by the person who made the mod. the config to change should be under 'advanced solar panels' in your configs folder. Change the hard recipes to false, and the simple recipes to true. Problem solved. Solars are never a good solution though, try making a more challenging power system perhaps?

Really? Wow, yeah I just checked the recipes for the other hybrid and ultimate hybrid solar panels, those things are crazy!

I guess I just didn't see that coming, normally we can blame Gregtech but my apologies should go out to him :p

I am making a more advanced system, I just have a short attention span so I'm actually making a bunch of different power supplies and plugging it into one grid, I already have coal coke being pumped into generators and solar panels is just the next one I'm making. It's probably quite inefficient not to specialise but way more fun :D

Oh, this post again. Also this is god damn old, and the change is balanced as solar panels are the easiest way to make energy.

And you're playing Mindcrack, which isn't supposed to be easy, quit crying

I'm under the belief that it may be just me, but I can't call IC solar panels a legit power source. the amount of resources it takes to have anything meaningful is astronomic. PITA to make too. an entire stack of iron to produce less eu from a solar panel than 8 iron for a normal generator. silly that you get less energy from essentially 8 generators (+bullsquat) than you do from 1 generator.

There is no blaming Greg involved. If you don't like it, then don't play it. *sigh*

That seems reasonable, I don't like this one aspect of the mod, so I guess I'll just stop playing altogether.

And I'm not crying, I just reckon that they are far too expensive now, as they are it is difficult, which I can deal with and enjoy, but my friend and I don't have the time to invest in this to get as far as we like if it's too difficult, which I think this recipe is.

If the shiz are too hard, stop playing Mindcrack and play something easymode like DW20[DOUBLEPOST=1373999615][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yes, because making power out of nothing should make at least as much as 8 generators that take fossil fuels to generate energy.

if you're freaking out about that (which actually wasn't done by greg) wait till you find out what greg has done now

Seriously, just because someone doesn't like a certain aspect of a mod, doesn't mean they're "crying" or "whinging" or anything of the sort. That's pretty ridiculous and quite insulting.
And yeah, the solar panel thing is both mega old news and not Greg. Greg has done enough dickish nerfing on his own, no need to blame him for stuff he hasn't done.

Plz sir this time can we stay calm & on topic as not to have the tread locked, TIA.

You have made your views very very clear, now can we have an amusing, informative, whinny/pro GT debate with out personal rivalries.

Technically Greg does push the solar panels father back in the tech tree because of the UU and iridium costs with GT are exponentially higher. The recipes themselves are not on him at all but using said recipes alongside GergTech does give an added, indirect, nerf.

No, you may not. Whining about GregTech is not going to get you anywhere. If you don't like an aspect of a mod you have two options: Leave the mod or tolerate the aspect. DO NOT give me this BS about you not liking the direction GregTech is taking. This conversation about GregTech being "too hard" was started nearly a year ago. It has never ended. It also has never even gone anywhere except add more whiners to the bunch.

Seriously, why do people even still bother with solars that aren't the ultra OP ones? An decent sized MFR tree farm chopping 2x2 trees will provide enough wood for hundreds of generators, or (even better) dozens of 36hp boilers which, along with power converters, can create far more eu than you could ever need. Unless you're filling DSUs with iridium for the lulz, this should do fine. Unless you're tight on space, solars just aren't worth the cost.

Not that solars should be a primary power source in ftb anyway.

that definitely doesnt sound weird...
Lol.

and who are you to decide what we can and cannot do? I see "Member" under your name, not "Moderator"
If you do not like a post, then you have 2 options. Don't read it, grow up, and leave the topic. Or you can report the post. Your choice and I couldn't care less which option you choose. And again, stop calling people who dislike Gregtech "whiners" as the term could so very very easily also apply to you.
