Agreed for the mainstream "all the things" packs.

Completely disagree for the 3rd-party packs. Most 3rd-party packs intentionally extend gameplay. Examples include MF2, AgS, Crash Landing, InfiTech2, etc.,.

And, they do it with less mods than a "all the things" pack.
I agree, some of the 3rd party packs are great. i should have specified it was a main pack comparison. ultimate, unleashed, monster...ect

Any Jadecat pack is amazing because the way she configs the recipies. Her, eyamaz and Wyld make recipes interesting.
I just hope GT returns to FTB's main packs

If they release an EU-focused pack I presume Gregtech will be in there.

Yes, but Greg is working on making it independent.

He did that in GT 5 for MC 1.7 . The only way to transform between the two is using a GT Transformer directly adjacent to an IC2 Transformer.[DOUBLEPOST=1411491808][/DOUBLEPOST]

It did, in a way. FTB now has very visible support for 3rd-party packs. There's at least a couple of very good GT-centric packs out there. Head on over to the Third-party Packs area and get a pack code.

I've been playing @Jason McRay 's excellent InfiTech2 pack on a server with a few friends for several weeks now and we love it. It has plenty of other mods in it - no shortage of stuff to do - but retains its balance around GT. From a "this is an awesome pack" POV, you can say it's Ultimate-ish. But, so many mods have change so much and InfiTech2 does it in a different way, that I can't claim it's a 1.7.10 port of Ultimate.

And, no, I don't see FTB supporting a GT-centered pack directly, mainly because there is no viable escalation/bug/documentation/issue tracking path between anyone and Greg. For good or ill, Greg answers to Greg only.

ALSO ABSOLUTELY NO GREGTECH. That mod ruined my experience.

I stopped reading right there. Never mind the fact that it was your last sentence and I was going to have to stop reading anyways.

Having played Ultimate as my first FTB experience, and having played a lot of the modpacks since then, I have to say that (in my humble opinion) FTB Ultimate WITH GREGTECH will always be the best FTB modpack. And having Gregtech in the modpack is literally the reason why it is the Ultimate modpack. There hasn't been nearly so good a modpack since the Ultimate modpack.

I think Minecraft and mods are going away, but that's the topic of another 70 page thread on these Forums (guess which one LOL)... but someday I am quite certain I will get the longing to play again, and when I do, I fully expect it will be Ultimate that I fire up and play for nostalgia's sake.

This must have been for a later version of XYCraft, because the XYCraft in FTB Ultimate, or as mentioned on the official Wiki, has no such blocks in it.

it was definitely in ultimate, and those blocks were definitely in it. 1.4.7 was the only version we got xycraft iirc.

as for the "official' wiki, which one are you looking at? this one?

Quite certain are you? What microsoft is going to make mods illegal is that what you think? Or they are going to unmake minecraft? I tend to believe not much at all is going to change, honestly. Mojang seems pretty inept at managing this monster they have created. Wrong thread to be having this discussion in I guess. Crap topic anyway.

I just think we'll someday look back upon this pre-MS period as "the good old days", whatever they do with it. Let's just say I'm probably older than just about anyone here (lifelong gamer) and I have personal experience with Microsoft trying to fool the world into believing they are some kind of "gaming" giant. All they do is ruin games, they've never enhanced anything they've bought. IMO obv and yes, wrong thread for all of this.

Or, y'know, some modders have already jumped boat (coughcpwcough) and some major ones jay disappear.

Been a long time coming imo, nobody appreciated what he did.

After ae2 and the backlash he got, would you continue? I sure wouldn't.

I hear ya, but I also KNOW that MANY people appreciated what he did... but the satisfied happy folks never get heard from, only the "squeaky wheels" do.

Off topic here, but if you are a "lifelong gamer" you are far from the oldest silverback ape in this jungle... Some of us were already in high school when the first Magnavox Odyssey home videogame was offered and "Tank" first appeared in the local bowling alley. :D
