Make sure you are downloading 0.2 of the packs. The later versions are broken, at least until the team can get out a launcher update later toady.

Well, I wouldn't say broken, but they are buggy. For example, EE3 basically doesn't work unless you manually update to a newer version. ( Can't craft minium stone or philosophers stone. )

Slowpoke said they plan to look into them tomorrow.

It depends. If you just wanna leave files as-is then its easy. If you expect someone to be able to maintain it (fix the fixable bugs, etc) then it's a pain.

Leave as they are, is what I mean by 'classic'. When someone generally says 'classic' they mean to not change. I do not mean to have two branches of the same mods going. That would be silly.

Python is a medicore language with a community that rejoices in ignorance. But people can and do still make great things with it. At the end of the day, the tools matter less than the technicians.
We all know about your unfounded python hate. trollface.png But in terms of games/modding, there is absolutely no advantage with any other language, and indeed, most other languages would be slightly less useful in this regard due to syntax bloat and that being an extra hurdle for new programmers.

Someone doesn't know the history involved, nor do they follow the changes to the Jvm. But that's okay, it's specialist knowledge. Suffice to say: the above statement is wrong enough that' it's not even a good joke. It's like saying, "Lisp, where YOU are the compiler!"
Irrelevant, see above, also consider how closely do you follow python changes, and if your dislike of the entire language stems from a few bad experiences where you have developed an outdated bias in applications that do not even apply here?

I am genuinely sorry to necro your post. I am on mobile devices this weekend and I should read more carefully. That's why i was baffled, I though you had changed your position on this..
A band of bronies shall be at your door shortly looking for repentance

Well, this is a little odd to me. RP2 item management hasn't been necessary since Immibis Infinitubes. Infinitubes has been better than RP2 in terms of capabilities, mechanics, and computational overhead for along time. AE came along and basically took away every other item transport case. More recently, MFR is starting to make a solid run at replacing BC pipes with its conveyor system; which is actually becoming pretty dang awesome now. Conveyors have inventories so they can be the target of push-mechanics like hoppers and TE machines w/out redstone clocks. Item routers are really good now (much better than diamond pipes), and all we're really waiting for is a button to turn on and off respecting NBT data like AE has to make them better than pipes for everything but bees.
Necessity isn't really what the game is about is it? ;) Im personally not really looking for new blocks that do more stuff. Its sort of the difference between given a car, and given all the parts for a car and you have to go find all the car parts. (extreme example). *some* of the new things are *too* automated, but many are fine replacements and even improve over RP in that aspect. BC pipes need to stop fucking leaking though, because gate system is very fun and I want to use it.

We are well afield now. So I'll spoiler this.
But in terms of games/modding,

There is nothing special about game programming. It is just a set of constraints like any other project.

there is absolutely no advantage with any other language, and indeed, most other languages would be slightly less useful in this regard due to syntax bloat and that being an extra hurdle for new programmers.

This is absolutely wrong. Your problem is you're mistaking your personal familiarity for simplicity. I forgive people this because many, many software engineers do this. So many that I took the time to http://dave.fayr.am/posts/2011-08-19-lets-go-shopping.html]write an essay about leaving your comfort zone as a programmer and why that is a valuable exercise.[/SIZE]

consider how closely do you follow python changes, and if your dislike of the entire language stems from a few bad experiences where you have developed an outdated bias in applications that do not even apply here?

I know exactly what Python's capabilities are. It is one of the major players in my industry. I pride myself on keeping both abreast existing technologies in my space and trying to outpace them. My track record is very good here. Ask and I'll give you #humblebrag examples if you really care.

The fact Python still hs lousy "nerfed" anonymous functions is outrageous. The fact its stdlib hasn't totally moved over to a block-style a-la ruby on grounds of "simplicity" is heinous. The fact that we don't have some sort of type annotation hinting for the compiler in the core distribution is not only sad, it ignores the success of that approach in the last 20 years of programming for no practical benefit.

I don't know if anyone had this weird bug i found. I was using copper & tin from IC2. When i started to pulverize copper i got pulv copper and then i try to cook it in powered furnace but i could only get 1 copper ingot from any amount of pulverized ore. And this copper ingot didn't work in recipes. Other weird bug is when i cook one pulverized gold i got full stack of it. Or when i want to cook sand to glass i couldn't get any. But when i change copper & tin to thermal expansion version everything is working just fine - in pulverizer/ powered furnace & in macerator/ electric furnace. I am using industrialcraft-2_1.115.327-lf & Forge 710.

This also happened to me. If it makes any difference I selected the pack with GT and on te 'recommended' version.

Strange as there was quite a bit to download, almost as much as for the ultimate pack, implying that there should be mods, but apparently not.

You do have a point.

Are you on a server? Because that sounds exactly like a really bizarre case of miscommunication between the client and the server.

Anyways, does only one of the Copper Dust smelt? What's the hurdle for only being able to get 1 Copper Ingot?

For anyone having trouble launching the beta Ultimate pack, try deleting the mods and minecraft folder, so it has to redownload everything. That got it to work for me (once) and then I used MultiMC to make a copy which launches perfectly fine at this point.

The only issue I have is that there are various things causing crashes (like putting on Thaumcraft's Goggles of Revealing will crash the game every time for me, but there are also more random crashes I don't know the cause of yet). Still, it's great to finally play around with some of the new features.

Somewhere on the internet
Most underrated thing from Xenos Reliquary: Magicbane

if it's enchanted, it's pretty much the ultimate close-range PVP weapon, next to maybe the Rapier if you're dealing with people with armor.
