An ore processing system is very different from a whole sorting system.

If you were referencing my reply to this post:

You do not need a sorting system until you have some significant auto-mining capability. Even a quarry is not enough to require it. Go at your own pace and do what you think is fun. If you start with thermal expansion, you can go a long way with just hoppers and connected thermal expansion machines.
You appear to have stated "sorting system", and not "ore processing system".
If this is unrelated (either to me, or that post), then can you please give the context of your reply? Thanks!
What are the chances to get all the items? And what are all the items? There a list somewhere?

In NEI, press 'u' over a scrapbox and scroll two pages to the left.

to me Ore processing is just a sorting system that ends in machines instead of chests and barrels.

I would consider an "ore processing system" a part of "sorting system", but a part that you add after you have a bunch of materials and are ready to build some dedicated automation machines. Because, really now, you are just sorting your materials into another format, which requires an in between step.

But yes, the actual requirements besides the machines themselves are pretty much the same as a sorting system.

A sorting system has to handle a lot more inputs and probably includes more crafting and compressing loops. An ore processing system can be a handful of TE machines sitting adjacent to one another with hoppers. There's an implication of substantial complexity.

Dark Iron
Burning an iron block with Wrath Fire will leave behind a Dark Iron block. This block can be uncrafted into 4 Dark Iron ingots. This metal appears to be Ender-aligned, and has a few good uses.

Now click on that link and scroll down to the "wrath" section to read up about wrath fire.

To me ore presscing we are talking large and mostly automated. Have a culster to TE machiens feeding each other is not an ore processing syetm to me. For me that is just how to build TE in early game.

Ore proscessing to me is I put stuff in here it goes else where and comes back in mainy diffrent froms based on my needs. Becuase of that it is always part of my sorting system so they are one and the same in my book.

You can run a quarry off of those with minimal infrastructure if you void your non-usables with just TE, emerald pipes, and some engines. Sorting machines are More™.

And I absolutely agree that generally sorting systems are a super-category of ore processing. I'm just saying that you can have an ore processor without having a sorting system and it can handle the output of a quarry reliably. On top of a few TE machines, some engines and 2 emeralds and a bit of glass give you everything you need to handle an ender chest backed by a quarry. It's just pretty low-fi compared to the epic complexity most people have.

You may not build that way, but for someone new to modded minecraft it's perfectly acceptable to start small!

Hehehe I made my sorting system take up a lot of space and made it strewn with pipes and wires to make it look complex, even though it only crafts ITNT and Tin cells, then there's 5 pulverizers, induction furnaces, and powered furnaces, an industrial grinder, blast furnace, like 7 industrial centrifuges, and 3 electrolyzers :D
