Oh i didn't even realize this age started me at height 90 lol, didn't even think to look since i just assumed flat + plains would start me out around 64. Weird it put me so high up.At height 91 and maybe 10 blocks below that? You're not going to find a damn thing. Hell, vanilla ore doesn't spawn above... what... 50? You're gonna have to go a LOT deeper than that if you want to see what Dense Ores does
Even if it HAD put you at 64, you STILL wouldn't be seeing any iron ore yet. And remember, Dense Ores only works on vanilla ores, not on mod-aded ones. Which means it won't work on Copper or Tin. And in fact, you'll see instances where the iron will be replacing them. So expect piles of Iron. Then, as you get low enough, an abnormally large amount of Gold and Diamonds, although you won't likely see much extra diamonds with a quarry that small.Oh i didn't even realize this age started me at height 90 lol, didn't even think to look since i just assumed flat + plains would start me out around 64. SP btw.

Last I heard, the way Dense Ores does things is that it goes in and replaces any kind of areas that aren't air with vanilla ores of the appropriate height level, and that it doesn't work with mod ores. Was this a bug w/ mystcraft generation that was fixed a long time ago? Vanilla supposedly never overwrites anything but block ID 1 with ores.
And can't mods plug into Mystcraft now to make sure they're included in dense ores (and in 1.5.1 w/ newforge, the placable liquids?)

That is not my understanding of the coding, but I could be mistaken.I thought the behavior in question was a bug involving using a blacklist instead of a whitelist and it was corrected with the last release.
Okay, I think we need to talk about a concept called 'sample size'. Quite frankly, you're too impatient. You can't tell from a single screenshot if Dense Ores is working or not. It takes quite a bit of wandering around to see the effects. If you only have a single Dense Ores symbol, the difference may not be readily apparent to the naked eye. Seeing a spawn of ten ores as opposed to six ores can be difficult to discern, particularly when veins tend to grow into the cliff faces, so the large majority of the ores in the vein are hidden. Try actually looking around for more than two seconds and posting a single screenshot.Ok so i tried using a cave world terrain gen to lower my spawn level to 32 and i'm still not seeing any more ores then normal. Also i did come accross some tin and copper, then again that might be because it apparently isn't doing anything. -snip img-
Will copper and tin still spawn if i have dense ores on and just not benefit from the bonus? or will i not see them at all. Also will they spawn in a normal age without dense ores? Or can I just not mine them in mystcraft period?
Why did you necro this thread? It's ragged bones will haunt us forever now, wandering the board in its eternal search for the peace of the grave.Aw seriously? Mod ores don't get impacted by dense ores? Is this still true with the new mystcraft?
It would be great if they updated it to increase ores in general.
