Hi I am Stuck with the fluid/item ducts. I looked up videos and tried all modes. I am using a vacuum hopper connected to a chest with it. Is this possible?

Ducts nearly always need a servo so you can set the redstone mode to always on, maybe this is your problem?
You can connect the vacuum hopper directly to a chest, you can see when its pointing the right way, also it has a separate connection for xp which you can connect directly to a tank.
