Regarding Reactorcraft, I'm excited about the turbine flywheel. I am concerned that the steam is eliminated.

How should that work with ammonia? Also I'm on a finite water world, so I'm actually recycling my steam

Lastly, you might consider a Reactorcraft suggestions thread. I didn't see one.

If you're looking to even out the power generated by a turbine without a flywheel, I would just use electricraft with a buffer auroral battery (or 4 if you want 1 GW output). It also lets you capture every bit of power produced from your reactor so you don't have to worry about waste. Just make sure the wire between the generator and battery is short since the fluctuations from the generator cause too many network updates for a long wire system. The output from the buffer battery is stable though so you can run your long-distance wires from that.

Not really a suggestion for the mod but may work well with RoC and ReC power gen. The mod Draconic Evolution has a power bank that is as end game as the fusion reactor. Perhaps a few people here would be interested.

So the top tier one can actually store almost twice the amount of the ElC battery ^^
How expensive is it though?

Something like 3k redstone, but that's easy. The difficult part is the 200+ draconium blocks. For a rough comparison, mining all the visible draconium in the end with a fortune 3 pick, then using a draconic chest to double the yield, you only get around 80 draconium blocks. To get more you have to fly out 10k blocks to a chaos island and defeat the guardian there. They're no cakewalk though since they have 500 hearts of health and deal void damage. Mining it in the overworld isn't useful since it generates at a rate of about 0.5 ore per chunk so you're lucky to get 15 dust per max sized quarry which translates to 15 ingots with doubling. You'll also have to toss in something like 8 nether stars as well as quite a few diamonds and a bunch of gold.

Then there's the fact that you can't move the thing without destroying it and it taking up a 15x15x9 space.

Recently got back into MC and, more importantly, Reika's mods and noticed something odd when planting canola... sometimes it wont plant, even if you just harvested canola from that same block. It's an outside farm so I don't think its a lighting issue, is there something blindingly simple I've missed somewhere? RoC/ReC/EC are being used on top of the current DW20 pack (And are all the most recent version, 4c I think it is?) so if it's a known mod-interaction issue that my Google-fu has missed feel free to hurl abuse at me (And an answer if you're feeling generous :p).

It's the tracking blocks from Railcraft interfering. Go in configs/railcraft/blocks.cfg and change "residual.heat" to false to disable their generation. If you want to use that feature for railcraft, just avoid walking over ground you're going to plant on. You can reset a block that's not plantable by planting regular seeds, pulling them up, and then planting canola seeds.

Awesome, I rarely use RC for anything beyond the Blast/Coke Furnaces so that shouldn't pose a problem for me. Thanks heaps :)

@Reika: After our recent discussion on mass lube production, I went back and setup 8 fertilizers on a small field and supplied them with water and bonemeal. There was a significant increase in output, however the particle effects were so bad I had to completely disable particles in order to move. My FPS had dropped to single digits.

Is there a better way to signify the fertilizers are on, or disable particles in a config?

Well, shite! I'd been having the same problems for a while now and I thought my MC instance was haunted or something, lol. Thank you!

fwiw this gotcha gets an awful lot of players. I imagine Reika or his VIPs address it at least a couple times a week on his MC thread.

I'm not even sure how RC uses this mechanic.

Its prolly a vestigial part of the mod that, at one time, was supposed to serve some sort of purpose (thermal imaging?), but never got around to a working implementation outside the block/entity itself.

[ETA]

Now there's an idea for ElC or RotaryCraft: some kinda thermal goggles that'd allow you to see how hot certain blocks are and give you a readout on the current ambient temperature. It'd help a lot with debugging certain machines (coughPerformanceEnginecough) and, you have to admit, it'd be cool as hell.

Only a DC engine on each, but with water and bone meal. They were overlapping in a row on the same little 7x8 plot. The green bubbles effect was just overwhelming.
On a DC engine, the fertilizer runs one operation every 30 seconds or something...
*looks at code*
Code:
  private int getUpdatesPerTick() {
     if (power < MINPOWER)
       return 0;
     return 4*ReikaMathLibrary.logbase2(omega);
   }

   private int getConsecutiveUpdates() {
     if (omega < 1048576)
       return 0;
     return 1+ReikaMathLibrary.logbase2(omega/1048576);
   }
WHAT?

This does not seem right...

Here's another one. Mouse over items in your inventory, you get name and id/name. I believe it's NEI doing that.

Mouse over items in a pneumatic item tube whitelist, and you don't see anything.
