Which mod adds XP to tools? There's a handful of bugs/oddities I'd like to report, if they're not already solved in the latest version.
yes there is a bug i've noticed for me. the shovel and mattock are near impossible to level. instead of leveling up, you will see the max amount required to level from clumsy just keep going up and up over time. something like 2250 exp to get the first skill level for shovel and mattock. that's broken.

i'm new to metallurgy, but i think i found a bug here that is pretty significant. (actually not sure if its the metallurgy furnaces or if its the nether ores mod, because i didn't test this with the vanilla furnace, just the iron furnace).

when i place nether ores (redstone, coal) inside an iron furnace (metallurgy), the FIRST nether ore gives me 2 overworld ores. but if i leave the furnace cooking and let the cooked slot fill up... the subsequent ores still cooking only give me 1 ore per, and it stops cooking when the cooked slot reaches 15.

so, if i cook 16 nether ores, i should get 32 normal ores, but i dont... unless i manually monitor the furnace and pull out the ores EVERY time one gets cooked. every time 1 turns to 2 i have to clear out the cooked slot of the furnace to ensure that the next one also give me 2. otherwise it will give me 2 for the first, the 1 for all after.

unmonitored: 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, up to 15 furnace stops due to stack size, clear out cooked slot to cook remaining, get 2 for the initial again, then 1 for the rest.... so its 16 nether ores = 18? normal ores

monitored: 2 (remove) 2 (remove) repeat = 16 nether ores = 32 ores!

Experience Level : Eyamazing on my Long sword.
Lol.

@Eyamaz
Could you config it so higher experience levels take more experience to reach then previous ones? Currently every new level takes exactly as much as the previous one.

That way it would make it harder to get perfect tools while removing the punishing brick wall that is first leveling your pickaxe to accustomed.

There is a bit of a mechanic that adds exp already. Isn't the exp for a pick based partly on it's speed? I've had picks need more and more exp as they get either a random upgrade or I add redstone.

Yes there is, and yes, the basic value is based on the material its made from (I think its a combination of speed and durability, but im not sure.)

My idea was it should be changed so that lower levels (Accustomed, Adept, etc..) take less experience then currently, but higher (Master, Grandmaster, Mythic, Eyamazing) take more, adding a sense of endgame progression to tools.

Good find!

I just confirmed this bug in a test world on both iron and steel furnaces with Nether Redstone ore. I presume it would happen with other ores / metallurgy furnaces too. It appears to work correctly with a vanilla furnace.

Workaround: Use a hopper to pull the items out and feed into a chest. Then the output slot is empty and you'll get your ore doubling each time.

I'm having some trouble in my game. I don't know what to use to mine obsidian. I have 3 diamonds, but I don't know if they are used for pickaxes, swords, etc. And to make a nether portal or enchanting table I need obsidian. Basically what I'm asking is what pickaxe I can use for mining obsidian?

tools are are from tinker's construct, and damascus steel mines obsidian last i checked. you can refer to batch_2 and anesos' metallurgy chart for alloy info. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kqZDSHk9JkPI3lC5XgmrHqbsnhytdh3oLDltR1qTyCw/edit#gid=0

I am sorry, (I am a noob at this), but is damascus steel mineable with a reinforced 2 Iron Pickaxe?
damascus steel is an alloy made in the smeltery by combining 3 iron and 2 bronze, bronze is made by combining 3 copper with 1 tin. and once you've boosted your iron pickaxe, it should be able to mine copper, iron, and tin.
you can see the recipes in the link i posted before. good luck!
also, because in the current version the smeltery no longer doubles ores, i would recommend using a crusher to turn the ores into dust before you smelt them.

So.

All things delayed because I have no freaking internet. Can't get a technician out to fix the line till the morning.

At least I have my phone.

I was wondering about that. Are there any changes that drastically change the game like removing meteorcraft? Those meteors were like gifts from the heavens.

so I am unable to load my save. Here is the error log.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Wfwi5dV5exZptN7waqgRVuKHUJVYmvJ42cdBsyGgv-Y/edit?usp=sharing
It was a Hard Core save that I had gotten quite far on. I can still create new worlds but this one seems to be broken. I'd rather not have to restart.
I managed to "Fix" the game file by deleting the chunks the electric clouds were in. I feel bad it also deleting the invasion portal in the clouds but I feel much better I have my world again. I don't know what I'm going to do if the invasion portal doesn't respawn.

As time goes on, multiple invasion portals will form. They just seem to keep coming. Plus you'll have lesser waves come up from the caves.

yes, i've created a bunch of hoppers to work around this bug. but i hope eyamaz can poke the metallurgy mod author about this and find a real solution.

also, would love to be able to see (purple) ender forests on the map/minimap again, instead of looking like plain forests.
