For each life tick of the bee queen, you have a chance to produce 0-2 product combs and 0-1 specialty combs. So the 5.1 mins (which is pretty clear is equal to 5 min + 0.1 min*60 sec/min) is there to give you some kind of average time information based on that chance. If you can reach the 2 products+1 specialty / life tick (with frame housings), then you have maximized the productivity of the queen.

My definition of clear is outright stated... I mean, is it clear the the big red button under the glass is the self destruct button?
Could just be the lockdown button, but without specifying then how does anyone know for sure?
Not saying I blew anything up... *starts whistling*

Thank you for the response though. The whole thing makes sense now. The time is meaningless and it is actually just an odds thing, with the 'lower times' being just higher odds.
Vanilla forestry frames just increase the odds.

With that in mind, I now know what I am doing while making my personal reference sheets... and I'll be swapping the time references for inspecific odds terms like 'rare', 'periodically', 'regularly', 'likely' and 'often'... or uther such terms. Perhaps a previous iteration of the forestry site/wiki explained how it operated and I wasn't playing with bees at that time.

I think time reference is pretty good too, so you can estimate how many frame housings are needed for bees to reach the maximum productivity. From what I tested, you need 9 frame housings to reach the maximum productivity of valuable bee (which is the slowest bee with 2.5 hours/ platinum comb), ruby bee needs 5 (50 min/specialty), industrial/imperial need 4 (5 min/specialty) etc.

Just a heads up, Ghastly bee mutation chance isn't written on the wiki, it's 13%... Also Jaded, why can't I breed your bee :( i'll never complete everything now, i'm already on 113 species so it won't be long before i'm stuck at 183 and can't get that Jaded bee.

Thanks for the bug report, it is fixed now.

Reporting a potential misspelling on the wiki:

Comb pages (example) say "Centrifugates to" when I'm assuming it's supposed to say "Centrifuges to"?

Sorry for butchering the english language. Somehow I was convinced, that "to centrifugate" was the corresponding verb for the centrifuge, instead of "to centrifuge". Will be fixed in a minute. Thanks for the report.

Wasn't sure where to put this to get it added to the effects list on the Wiki...

Yeah, my Bee Chart is centered around 1.5, so I have the bees for quick reference. Will eventually get to the new Thaumic Bees, once my Database works.
And guess what, MCD:
The End Bee can now also be found in Villager's Apiaries.

I'm not bragging, I'm simply saying that my guide is centered around 1.5, and so it has the new Forestry Bees. Quick Reference so that you don't have to spend a week setting up a modpack so that you can get the recipes for the bees. I am thinking of later adding mutation chances and other things in a spreadsheet for more future reference.
EDIT: But I guess that did sound wrong. Fixed.

I just found this mod http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1803460-147151152-nei-bees-plugin-v11/.
It might get me to actually try bees, and stick with it. It just makes bees a bit more convenient.
This post needs to be quoted here. Just tested the mod (the 1.4.7 backport) and it is very nice for a quick peek for mutations and products. It is only missing special circumstances like biome needed, boni/restrictions of moonphases etc.
And if anyone thinks of this as cheating: Sengir himself tweeted about this mod, so call it approved.

Like a graph or something like that?

You better have a good A2 printer, because there are a lot of species, and a lot of cross branches all over the places in extra bees and thaumic bees.

That is not what I am looking for exactly but it will have to do. I was looking for something a little bit more sortable than that. If you look at any "mutates to" list, that is what I was wanting, just all the bees on one sheet. Thanks for the help though.
