Question regarding updating a pack. I have a server with Direwolf20 1.0.13 on it. Will updating to 1.0.16 require a new world to be created?
Usually, no. Occasionally a change will break some functionality, for instance an update to the modpack that I use caused all BoP gems to turn to mud. I kept on finding mud in dungeon chests all around my base as I explored the tunnels. I also have tree trunks with no leaves but that have floating vines around them where the leaves got deleted in an update, and jarring cliff walls and sudden biome transitions that look like a map of the U.S. around newly generated chunks. But none of that
requires a new world. I tried to look up the change logs on
the official site but I can't find any actual change logs there. Just a list of mods. But there shouldn't be anything world-breaking there, unless there are undiscovered bugs.
*Edit* The page hadn't finished loading. I can't see anything too disruptive, although 1.0.14 says "Removed OpenPeripheral", yet 1.0.15 says that OpenPeripheral is updated. How can it be updated if it was removed? Shouldn't it say "added"?
Whenever there is a big update that I'm not sure about, I make a copy of my entire modpack directory before updating, so I can just delete the updated one and revert to how things were if there are major problems. That way I can prepare my world for the disruption and then update again.
