I guess it's for "creative builders" as opposed to those of us who like "progression". But I agree with your assessment of it, I'm really not very excited about the pack except for the fact it's the newest one and thus, just maybe, there might be something "new and unique" about the pack.
I'm content that its "different". It doesn't need to appeal to me. It doesn't need to appeal to the majority. The fact that its significantly different means it might appeal to some niche in the community, and I think that's an excellent strategy for the pack devs, and a wonderful alternative to "cram all the mods in."

They come in the default option.
Sorry, I meant Terrain Gen mods. There are as far as I can see no Terrain gen mods in the pack. Something I find puzzling for a building themed pack...
Sure you can add them your self, but imagine telling random people on a server to install this mod and OH, then go config it as well...

I agree with you 100%. And I love that they finally went and made something for people who like to build things. I just don't get many of the decisions made in the pack :p

Sorry, "Yet Another 1.7.10" pack isn't that different to me.

I'm more excited about "Unstable 1.9", but that's just a personal thing concerning all the new techniques available in the mods updated so far.

I may be doing the same things, but I'm doing them differently now! :D

I have yet to see anything that outperforms this one when it comes to a combined judging of power output, efficiency etc.:
6HnPHOI.png

code: 0D140D0000000000000C0D0C0000000000000D140D0000000000000D0C0D000000000000010101000000000000010101000000000000

Since it is a single chamber reactor, safe and easy to automate, you can simply pack a great number of them together. I liked to automate whole banks of them with the Router. If you don't have as similar option then you can do it very simply with some EIO conduits(if you use the colour channels you don't shouldn't need to filter every connection on the reactors, just the output destination of empty fuel cells)(great for running redstone conduits in the same space) or similar as well.

You also save materials/processing steps on not having to make upgraded fuel cells, since this one makes proper use of breeding.

Do you have a link to the new planner ? I replicated it in the 'old' planner "IC2 Reactor Planner v3" with this code : 67mvu5lyd5iazd3bopcozitzou87w0zr6xpmh129zo0n8uxo32o87eerotan1gct9a14rof125t5qzeyetsyrc279zooovbyq68

"Isn't that different" is really a silly thing to try to quantify or dispute. I think you meant "sufficiently" different above.

I'm satisfied just from its description that its "sufficiently different" to objectively satisfy the "different" qualification. Some people may say "isn't that different", which we can objectively agree means "isn't different enough to satisfy my personal opinion of the term, or to engage my curiosity."

Its definitely not ultra-themed, like a Crash-Landing, but its not a every-direction-kitchen-sink-pack like Monster either. I'm guessing you (like me) are more interested in themed packs than just all-the-mods packs.

When I say "Isn't that different" I mean it's the same old 1.7.10 that I've been using for at least 2 years, and all the mods are still doing things the same as they did 2 years ago (those which updated quickly, anyway).

With "Unstable 1.9" I'm getting two major updates from Vanilla as well as mods that are significantly different from their earlier versions. I'm also adding and trying out new mods to fill in for mods that haven't updated yet, if they ever will.

I realize this is just a personal thing for me but "Inventions" is just the same ole stuff with a new name. Heck, considering Mojang's MC 1.10 pre-release 1 went on line today, I may be bored with 1.9.4 even quicker :)

As Searge put it on twitter about an hour ago... "If you are complaining about 1.10 being too soon or too small, I recommend playing 1.9 until we release 1.14 to get the desired experience." :D

In Infinity Evolved 2.5.0 expert mode, how many coal coke do you need to make a block of steel? I seem to be burning though random numbers of the stuff and have way more creosote than is useful

Hello! When my friend and I first opened a blank magic map when in Twilight forest we noticed that our arrow markers on the map were spinning around and thus figuring out which direction we were heading was a bit troublesome. How do we fix this plz? Thanks

Edit: FTB Infinity evolved - expert mode

The best recommendation I can give is to ignore the heading shown on the TF maps entirely and just use the one on your minimap mod of choice. Not the most elegant solution, I agree, but it does work.

So it's a bug then? Oh well. Thank you for the advice anyhow.

I don't have exact number for you, but I'd like to chime in that your experience is identical to mine, back when I played IE:Expert - and also chime in with the possibility that the confusion happens because a block of coal coke does NOT result in the same amount of steel as 9 individual coal coke's do... in other words, if you use a block of coal coke, you get a bonus ingot of steel or two out of the Blast Furnace compared to if you had used 9 coal cokes instead.

As for the creosote... yeah. That's the same in every modpack, because unless I specifically dedicate myself to using the mod, Railcraft is never utilized for its main purpose - building railroad lines... and thus, ANY creosote basically becomes "too much". I generally just make the cheapest tank I can to store it all, and then throw the tanks away. LOL Not really, because a veteran Minecrafter never throws anything away, no matter how useless and how low the percentage chance that item will ever be used in the future. But you get my point.

In another map (that got wiped in a fit of rage hehe) I was using the creosote for fuel in a steam boiler. Guess I could do that again. Still. Set three iron blocks in the blast furnace. It burned though 40+ coal coke and only finished one block. I was strip mining at the time so I wasn't close, but chunk loading/unloading shouldn't mess it up that badly, should it?

Not it is not.
There are is a distinction that needs to be made:
  • Supplying biomes for the vanilla or other terrain generator
  • Mods that actually supply the terrain generating algorithm as a alternative to the vanilla.
EBXl purely supplies biomes to the vanilla terrain gen based on everything I can find. Example:
ExtrabiomesXL doesn't generate any terrain. Instead, ExtrabiomesXL informs Minecraft about the additional biomes and what parameters Minecraft should use when it decides to use one.
https://github.com/ExtrabiomesXL/ExtrabiomesXL/wiki/Frequently-Asked-Questions#biomecontrol

Other mods like RTG, ATG, Highlands etc. supply a customized terrain generator, that when chosen replaces the vanilla terrain gen and generates quite improved worlds with the supplied biomes(like from EBXL, BoP etc.). Like more realistic terrain, special features like valleys, rivers, bluffs, oceans, beaches etc. And will arrange the biomes in climates properly so you no longer get snow next to deserts.

EBXL with vanilla terrain gen is IMO like choosing the old "first generation" world generation from 1.4.7, when we now have something like the "fourth generation" available. Such a missed opportunity.

I'm playing on a server modpack Infinity Evolved and have to surround my base with blocks to protect it from other players and I want to make it beautiful using the mod Chisel to make beautiful cobblestone.

How to create a cobblestone generator using mods?
Note: I am at the beginning on the server!

Extra Utilities item transfer node with a world interaction upgrade. Lava and water flowing into each other. Should generate cobble iirc.

If you're playing Infinity Evolved Skyblock a block breaker from Project Red is much cheaper.
