Huh, never new that. I'll add it to the wiki if its not on. Never seen one before.
I belive it is a fairly recent addtion to world gen. Like in the last build.

Really? Is there anything that can store more power?More solar panels.
Only ores which are set up properly within the code using MystCraft hooks will work with Dense Ores, but vanilla ores work just fine because they made them work that way.dense ores from mystcraft affect only vanilla ores ?
You'll want to maybe get a MFU. They can charge T2 items(which I think the laser is).Really? Is there anything that can store more power?
EDIt; My Batbox won't even charge the laser
What's the next step in getting power? Right now, I have two solar panels powering a single batbox but I want to make a mining laser, and that take 200k power and I just don't have the fuel to power everything and keep my machines working. How can I remedy this?
Go to the IC2 wiki, there are tons of ways of power generation.Really? Is there anything that can store more power?

Right now, I fuel everything my burning wood and charcoal. I know zip about bees and oil, or biomass so Charcoal is about all I've got.You have opened a box. A huge box that has many many worms. What will follow is a bunch of people debiting what is the 'best' power system for you.
So to get this party started. You want some sort of renewable source of fuel.
The bigs ones are
Lava : can be pumped or recreated in varius ways
Oil/Fuel : Renewable via bees
Biomass : Farming can net you unlimited
Getting into more complex
Blaze rods : requires access to spawner or soul shards
Scrap : fairly stright forwad.
As much as I would love, to spend the rest of my life mining coal and collecting wood to burn, it's just not my thing, you know? Then burn MOAR wood and charcoal!

I know, I save my coal to compress into diamonds. I've found I really like the redwoods, but a tree farm with a tree that big would be very very productive. like 3 stacks per tree almost and a ton of saplings.[DOUBLEPOST=1363562166][/DOUBLEPOST]Actully it is if you can make a decent tree farm.[DOUBLEPOST=1363561981][/DOUBLEPOST]
You do know you dont need to use coal to make charcoal right.
I'm sorry for your loss, man. I hope your computer and your farms make amends soon.Treefarms are your friend. They're my friend too. But they had a falling out with my computer, they're not on speaking terms, and if they are, it's at <1FPS.

I love turtles! I want something more showy though, you know! I want something that says, "Yeah, I just spent 7 hours building this. What's it do? Oh, it harvests wood...". Something like that. ;PCheck out turtles then. You can make a really nice and small tree farm with redwoods and a turtle. I know there is at least one how to soemone on this forums about that excat setup.

I saw that, and as much as it would be awesome to have my own, I have NO BLOODY IDEA about flux, or vis, or that mana bar he's got or acane... any of that. That's out of my league right now.Yeah I had this huge piston tree farm thing I did once. It would push all the logs over into a log cube for easy chopping.
You could totaly do something like that but instead of a cube push them over to block breakers or something.
Or go the steve's cart path they can make some really cool looking tree farms.
Or do what Etho is working on. Acane bore form the sky down to chop your trees.
You're using Ultimate, right? Here's my advice: Fuck Turtles, fuck arcane bore's, fuck steves carts. All three of those are needlessly complex for what you're looking for. Just want to cut some trees, maybe grow them quicker too?I saw that, and as much as it would be awesome to have my own, I have NO BLOODY IDEA about flux, or vis, or that mana bar he's got or acane... any of that. Must admit, your post made me laugh, and though it gave me the weird feeling I was being bribed into buying something, you have a great idea. I will look into it, and thanks for the reply. A picture of the set up would save me some time, but I have no problem, going off of text. Could this set up be stringed together with, say 2 redwoods? 3? 4?You're using Ultimate, right? Look into MineFactory Reloaded. You'll need a planter, a harvester, and maybe a fertilizer. Might need some conveyors as well unless you have another mod you prefer for moving your items about.
Get some saplings(mega win points for redwoods for reasons I'll explain later), and chuck 'em in a planter(one with power I might add) and it'll plant them in the dirt above it(place a 3x3 layer of dirt above your planter, or if you can afford to do so, Xysomething Soil). Place a harvester just outside the 3x3 planting ground level with where stuff will be planted(so one level above the dirt, and two above the planter), aligned to the center of your setup. Optionally, place a fertilizer in the same location, on a different side. Fertilizers help grow things faster, but they need resources and consume power when in use(and only then, like all Minefactory Reloaded machines).
You now have a Minefactory Reloaded tree farm. Easy to use, can run on your preexisting power network.(you have IC2? Hurray, you can power it. Set up BC power first? Hurray, you can power it.)
Now, why should you use Redwoods? Simple. They produce lots of wood per sapling. Which means you'll get more wood for making charcoal, which means more IC2 power. I think the harvester would consume more power when harvesting them(because they're bigger, and thus harder to cut down fully), but I assure you, you'll not want for wood any time soon.
