Apparently squid can spawn in witchwater.

Fortunately, the resulting !!fun!! despawned before it caused too much damage.

note to self: don't watch a skeleton sniper dual in your dark room when there is a creeper in the middle and you have no railings on your platform :(

I keep moving my maps and I kept re-completing the quests in creative mode only to find that I can complete them instantly.

For some reason I like to try and collect everything that I mine up. So I dug up some netherrack that I'd placed for a crucible, went to collect it thinking there was a block below it.

Nope, that was the void.

I really wish I got the flight potion thing at least for 2 minutes so I could attached just one block under by platform, then expand from there.

Still no luck :(

or use drawbriges aimed down, or pistons, or a rope ladder, or lava with water creating a cobble pillar into the void
there's quite a few options to go downwards
Water is the cheapest and easiest, but also slightly less safe.

Place water on the edge, and carefully sink down.
That would be TERRIFYING!

This reminds me of another question that nearly got me killed yesterday. Is there any way to rotate draw bridges?

not if you played the old feed-the-beast, it was required to get to the netherportal near the void and get lava for your coble gen

just build a roof and put it on that, they extend enough that you don't need to put it in the floor

It is, especially if you suffer from acrophobia! But it's perfectly safe as long as you:
  • wait a bit after placing the water block to allow the waterfall to grow past the Y level you'll be working at
  • make no lateral movements once you've entered the waterfall
  • place no blocks in the waterfall's path
  • don't stay in the waterfall so long that you'll drown
Once you've placed a column of blocks on the underside of your platform and returned to the safety of your platform you just "reach" down and place blocks on the column and you're off to the races.

  • don't have a friend that would "accidentally" place a block in the water stream

lol

"With friends like these..."

I guess the only upside is that if you've teamed with them then the shared lives being decremented will affect them as well.

don't believe there is, though I hope there will be one
best is to just build a little pillar up, and place the drawbridge aiming down, and use a few more blocks to extend

Water is the cheapest and easiest, but also slightly less safe.

having accidentally placed a block a few times from where the water is coming, or losing my balance on the block I'm standing on while the water clears away... it's cheap, that's true, but considering I need to change my pants everytime afterwards, it'll make it more expensive

For the Thaumcraft quest I left clicked a piece of tnt with my diamond hammer and somehow it lit and exploded. I had 15 others near it. Suffice it to say I lost my whole bottom platform and lots of metals. :( I tried it again and it it didnt happen. :3

No friend required if you are not careful about the biome you waterladder your way down.

*stream of water suddenly vanishes* What? *Looks up, notices ice block laughing at the inexorably and slowly falling steve...*

BTW, thats also an awesome way to die in your cobble gen. I always get "into" the forming cobble block a little bit to minimize the chances of cobble burning up.
One time i set my auto clicker (rubberband) on my mouse, and a few seconds later i heard the death sound, the water turned to ice, and the cobble never formed.
