Try this:
Open your control panel - open programs - check for java there and start it.
A window should be popping up now with java controls, update settings and the like.

Go to the tab named java and press the button to see all java runtime versions installed.
On the most right side you can deactivate the older version.

I have done this,(or the closest I can, as I am running OSX 10.9.5) It only has java 8 installed, and the latest version at that.

is there any chance that logistics pipes are still going to be added. several people have asked for it on the forum, but apparently there was no version of the mod compatible with our buildcraft version.
i just checked and that isn't true anymore, so can it be added now? i think it would make a great improvement over the mekanism pipes, which are acting a bit buggy to me.

Okay this is like the third or fourth time I have posted about this problem. I cannot access any of the Thaumcraft, Blood Magic, Mekanism, AE, or Millenaire quest lines even though I have completed the needed quests to unlock them. My reputation scores are WAY lower than they should be and I can't change that. I backed up my world save, deleted the HardcoreQuesting folder, and used the /hqm edit book to redo everything and I came out with even less quests than my previous save. I have tried everything people tell me like "hold or drop Osmium ingots/Osmium ore to unlock Mekanism" and that doesn't work. People say to unlock Mekanism I need to fully complete the first quest line of technology which I have. I have no idea what to do and I'm about to just give up on this modpack which is a shame because I've been playing for a while and I used to enjoy it. I'm open to any and all suggestions and I would really appreciate it if the owner of this modpack could take a look at my situation. Thanks

Probably a silly question, but please bear with me: have you completed ALL your available quests? I seem to remember that, at least for the Certus Quartz seed, you need to finish some, if not all, of the storage quests (not on my gaming PC now, so not sure which chapter that is), besides having achieved the reputation level. I am mentioning this because, if I am not mistaken, Mek is one of the last chapters so before getting to it, it might make sense to check Certus Quartz and AE availability (not sure if AE has quests yet, I am still dabbling in magics). Speaking of magic, to unlock the Thaumcraft quests you have to be very advanced in the Witchery quest line (I think the first chapter of Witchery should be nearly completed) - not only for the treefyd seed reward (to get Greatwood and Silverwood), which you can anyway get by using the Polynesia charm. Millenaire is the very last chapter (I think) and you need a Primordial Pearl for the wand, which you can get only through (you've guessed it) Thaumcraft. So, for magic mods, I would go by completing the Botania chapter (except maybe the Gaia II fight), the first Witchery chapter (or at least about 80-85% of it) and that should get you started with TC and, maybe, BM and after completing TC you will get the Millenaire quests. If anyone hasn't found out about some of the hidden quests, I will include the ones I've found in the spoiler below.

Holding an XP Berry Bush from TC
Getting/holding a diamond dolly from JABBA
Getting a Treasure (hidden?) map as a drop from mobs

Does anyone have a recommendation for a "best" tree for saplings? I've had a decent amount of success with Fir (2x2) combined with my smelting+fortune Lumber axe, but being so tall, sometimes takes the tree longer to decay than I have the patience to wait around for.

I have another question ...
im on 13: how the world bleeds I upgraded the blood altar to teir 3 and the quest book didn't register me having the 4 glowstone to keep questing because everything else is greyed out so I cant go past this

my altar at the moment but it wont click in the quest book that I did it how do I fix it ?

When I played through this the first time, I used some quest awarded glowstone and had the same problem. remove that glowstone and try again.

I tried Birch, 4 trees would yield me maybe a surplus of 6-8 saplings. One 2x2 Fir gives me a stack and a half. I suppose I could just be patient and wait it out or set up a few Hopperhocks.

I was just wondering if there was another option that yielded similar (or better) results.

Try using a grafter (manasteel is my go-to one) on the leaves - I've had far greater success with sapling drops than using the horn of the canopy or waiting for the leaves to decay naturally.

I guess I'm not making my need clear, for that I apologize. I am getting enough saplings to replant with no issue. I am using saplings in the fermenter to make Biomass. Currently each Fir I harvest I get 40-60 saplings. I do not have anything automated to handle this process yet so I must do it manually.

As you can imagine, going through each tree with a grafter for 2x saplings on leaves I can reach is not necessarily my best investment of time.

Forestry is part of the modpack for this reason, trust me when I say you get a very good amount of saplings so quick you'll be up to your ears in them.

I believe you, I'm just not at that point yet. ;-) but thanks!
I would recommend going for the forestry bred trees - those saplings can yield much more biomass per sapling plus their fruits can be squeezed into fruitjucie to increase biomass production even further.

The witchery trees do yield more saplings than a lot of vanilla trees, but i don't know if they can be processed into biomass. But i go along with you - taking fir for sapling production is one of the best choices, if you can get rid of the wood :)

I recommend not using Witchery trees to farm as they have a chance to spawn Ents.

Getting rid of the wood is easy with the AutoSmelting Lumber axe... Named "Charcoal!!!" ... all that charcoal is fed into my endoflames...

Yup, I did a bunch of those early on near an overhang so I could get my witchery fumes all back stocked. I think I have ~20 twigs?

In fact, I need to start using B-Space Barrels again, start dumping my charcoal into Auto Workbenches for the Blocks and start my Looniloot farm again for this play through

One possibly stupid question, but... do you claim the rewards for the quests you completed again? I believe somewhere in this thread TPL said that reputation gets assigned upon claiming rewards.
Yes I have. That's not a stupid question that's something other people have recommended as well.

I'm not sure if you're to the point of a golem farm, but compared to a forestry farm it's AMAZING. The leaves decay quicker than normal if the golem is cutting it down so that may solve your sapling issues.
