My sister and I just thought how cool it would be for a pack like this to be a survival/adventure map sort of thing.

Weird, I'll check it out. However this really isn't a problem, it's just there to teach you how. There aren't any rewards.
Actually, it is a problem. The quests that follow it wouldn't be available until you complete it and if a player doesn't know what to do they'll be stuck.

The craft a pickaxe quest isn't required for the upgrading part. You shouldn't even need a quest for those at all. Just google it.
But the copper pickaxe head quest isn't displaying a requirement to complete...

I don't need it, but someone might.

This is a graphic card related crash, nothing to do with the pack. I can only assume it either corrupted the lwjgl during downloading, or something to do with your graphic drivers. Try reinstalling the pack, backup your save before that tho. If that doesn't help, update your graphic drivers.
The only thing I did that could cause the crash was update Java...

If you don't believe me maybe you will rather fix this on your own? I mean, what do I know? I'm just a random modpack creator, mod coder and study IT at University where we mainly use Java, but again, I wish you luck.
I wasn't saying that you were wrong, I'm just trying to figure out how that would break it.

Have you tried what I said? It sounds like either your java update or the pack update corrupted the library that java uses to display stuff.
I tried re-installing the pack, and it's still messed up. There are no updates available for graphics drives that my computer uses. I checked.:(

Don't know if this'll help or not, but the scroll bar for the launcher is messed up as well since I updated Java.

I just noticed something. NONE of the modpacks are working for me.

That's outside the scope of my knowledge. Your best bet would be to make a support thread somewhere here or on the official forum. Which version did you install btw? Might be that you just installed the wrong one. Try simply reinstalling it? Btw you can remove java just like any other software on your computer.
Sometimes (most of the time) Java un-instaules previous versions automatically. Thankfully I don't think this was one of those times.

Thankfully Java didn't un-install the previous version as it usually does.
