It might be working but you are supplying way too little RF to it, keep in mind that forestry machines only work on RF unless otherwise noted(there is a few machines mentioning EU and MJ, but not sure if they actually run on those power sources or not).

An easy way to get started would be a with a clockwork engine, connect it directly to the carpenter and then punch it (or put up a few of them and it goes faster) you should be able to get it started.

To me it seems pretty random that these "basic" tier machines use so much power but i guess they aren't "basic" tier at all but more like HV tier or something.

EDIT: To power a carptenter with a BC generator: Put a Extra Utilities (energy) transfer node on the BC engine, then use ender IO (energy) conduits to pipe the RF power if needed be. You also need some kind of liquid in the carptenter, water or seed oil most of the time i think.

Kenesis pipes just dont connect. I imagine due to the reason posted above youm the modpack doesnt want you to play with bees until you have a quantum suit!

Thats because Forestry is no longer accepting MJ, and BC in the current version of the pack is producing MJ. You need to use RF (enderIO for example), or IC2 wires.
This will be changed in one of the next pack updates, where MJ will be no more and BC will be creating RF power. So for now BC kinesis pipes are only for use in BC machines

As confirmation, peat engines work on the squeezer, carpenter, and centrifuge. If its going to cost so much to power these machines, my suggestion would be to change the recipe for them so people dont get false Hopes when they craft the machine only to find out the power requirements are priced out of their league....or simply just remove the optuin to craft the forestry equivilants to gregtech to avoid confusion.

AFAIK, there is no GT equivalent for the Carpenter, Thermionic Fabricator, or the Fermenter.

And, it does not take MJ power anymore. You'll have to use RF.

Code:
[*]CHANGE: All the machines and engines have been switch to use the Redstone Flux API, dropping support for the Buildcraft MJ APi.

But, this is not tough. You can use eIO conduits and I believe ExUt power transfer nodes will work as well.

Heck, IC2 cables with enetbridge might also work.

I guess I'm just not familiar with eIO or RF in general. So it's a little confusing for me....too many energy APIs.

I hail from 1.2.5 and earlier. I had taken a long break from modded minecraft when FTB came out and DW20 got celebrity status....then used computers for everything...lost the fun for me.

I then got really into TFC and was playing that for a year. I've had a couple GT worlds with select few mods. I didnt even get into AE or anything....I sorta thought it was kinds cheaty how ypur sorting was more digital rather than consuming mass amounts of space for item pipes. Turns out item pipes lagged like crazy....

Some of the forestry recipes are in GT machines actually, like the treated casings and sticks.

Please give us the logfile on pastebin or similar so we know where it's stuck.

If you're using the FTB launcher, go into the Options and check the checkboxes that force the launcher to stay open when the game starts. The launcher has a console/log tab.

Also, what memory have you allocated and is this a 64-bit system ?

Railcraft is still in MJ land. The RF version of RC is comming soon(tm). It is already available for Patrons on Railcraft Patreon. And no, i will not be putting Patreon only builds into the pack....
Haha thats nice i'm guessing patreon is only for donors or something? premium items etc.

I think patreon stuff could be extra slots for "trade stations" aka: wooden chests selling stuff on a server or something, special capes and decorative blocks, never go pay2win :)

Maybe some extra tickets for events as well... lots of ideas flowing, never been in the dev server or any infitech2 server tbh, if i sound silly it's probably just the wine speaking.

I believe it's more of a... beta access, than a p2w thing x] just beta testing + early access, for those supporting a mod.

Why you gotta assume I'd ask you to do such a thing?
i think that was directed at "potential askers at large", not you specifically.

Folks I'm having trouble playing on the server. I'll be ok for a few minutes, and then suddenly the game halts every several seconds for a second or two and the fps goes from 50 to 0. Is there any "general tips" I should be observing to mitigate this?

Didn't have this problem on Miguk's server (different version though), no issues on single player (although I'm not replicating the same machines/animals/etc around me)

Just any basic tips I could check out might be useful.

Important Stuff:
* My computer is good. Can't rule out hardware faults of course.
* Display options have been switched to optimize speed; no change (Except now everything's uglier and I can't see as far)
* I play FTB with the following java args:
-Xms3G -Xmx3G -XX:permSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled

I experience similar behavior from time to time. My server is on the same computer as the client (i.e., I start the server and then start Minecraft and connect to 127.0.0.1). When this happens (very low, nearly zero FPS), opis says my ping is like 6 SECONDS (how can that be?). Restarting the client always seem to fix it, at least for a while.

I would chalk it up to "minecraft is always unoptimized and runs like crap..." I know this isn't helpful but it is a gripe I push past everytime I play lol. My Minecraft instance does the same thing...I'm connecting to a private server, albeit I'm sure this is a client issue...as you folks know. So about every 30 seconds I get a hiccup...The block I'm breaking while this happens is gone when the hiccup finishes and I'm halfway through the next block. So the server is still processing what is happening in the game and the client is still working, relaying data to the server complete with user input data.

No idea what this is about.

Don't know about mitigation, but it might not be a bad idea to have a ping running in the background. That will at least tell you if it's a network/server CPU issue or not.

If you want to get really fancy, you can do a traceroute to the dev server and have multiple pings running in parallel. For instance, start with your next NB hop (CMTS for cable and DSLAM for DSL), then perhaps the 1st hop across the pond to the U.K., then a 3rd ping to the server itself.

For example, here's my traceroute to Virgin Media UK:

Code:
minecraft@server:~/Dropbox/Infinity2-backups$ traceroute virgin.co.uk
traceroute to virgin.co.uk (46.236.33.18), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

I'd then keep the following pings up and running:

Code:
ping c-50-160-216-1.hsd1.ga.comcast.net # 1st hop
ping ae-233-3609.edge5.london1.Level3.net # 1st hop across the pond
ping 46-236-33-18.servers.dedipower.net # final destination

For Windows, add a /t at the end.
