Don't want to steal @Pyure ' s thunder, but he got something very cool from Railcraft working. It's too expensive to run (for now), but it works.
pfft, bit oversold. I figured a train bore would be kinda fun for exploratory work. Its expensive but as far as I can tell its the first "automated" mining work you can do.

Sadly it consumes around 1 coal per 3x3 step. Also requires tracks. And its finicky to get started and sometimes a trailing chest-cart doesn't work properly.

Still kinda neat :)
About magic bees... i will need to do some tests first. so those will be in update after this one
Miguk will be so happy!

Edit: Disregard my initial post on this comment.

Woah, nevermind ... after the, no word of a lie ... LONGEST load screen ive ever had, it finally finished and loaded in, it may of been corruption on the ftb files, so i redownloaded them and after waiting since 16:45 (it was 16:55 when it finished) it suddenly took off like a bat out of hell and loaded in....

editofanedit:What are the odds for the next version of adding "Gravitation Suite" to the pack?
You can go ahead and ban the matter transformer, but the jetpack battery idea folds in pretty good with GT and ic2, puts some pretty good utility on the nano armor.

Anyone have a clue why I cannot seem to craft the GT transformers? I tried the ULV and LV versions. Each one is a machine hull (ulv or lv) with 5 wires in a shaped recipe, but neither recipe seems to work.

Also, which transformer do I need to use to accept entry-level IC2 power (IE from a single generator)

gah, i hope someone has a clue here. Frustration level is increasing quickly. Wasted an hour on a single recipe.

Recipe is on left. Me trying to craft it is on right.

[DOUBLEPOST=1410134058][/DOUBLEPOST]MigujNamja just explained this one for me.

Magically the wire on the far left is TIN, not LEAD.

I dunno if they're visually different to non-colorblind people, but it looks identical to me :/

As a temporary walkaround please download the MultiMC and set up the instance:

1) www.multimc.org - download
2) Start MultiMC
3) Click on new instance icon on top left
4) give it a name and select the version 1.7.10
5) on the right click on Instance Folder
6) move everything from InfiTech2\minecraft to multiMC instance folder you just opened
7) in MultiMC select Edit Instance on the right
8) In the new window click on install forge and install the 10.13.1.1212 version
9) close the Edit Instance window
10) Hit play

edit: if you for some reason want to stay in 1.0.4 do the same steps with these changes:
4) select version 1.7.2
8) install the latest forge for 1.7.2

edit2: If the problem will not be sorted, I will make the completely different pack (new pack code). But first i want to wait for FTB guys to let me know, if they can fix it.

Thanks for the help, and sorry to dump this on you on a Sunday.

However, I got a workaround going with pack version 1.0.4 using ATLauncher and a vanilla Minecraft 1.7.2 instance with forge 1161 installed. (Link: http://files.minecraftforge.net/minecraftforge/mc172)

For some reason, Forge 1147 wouldn't even launch from a completely Vanilla install. I used the 1147 installer for 1.7.2 and it wouldn't even launch vanilla MC without crashing. I'm thinking there may be a problem with the forge version being used in pack version 1.1.0 (MC 1.7.10), because the crash log is very similar to the crash log given with 1147 not working in 1.7.2.

What version of Forge is being used with the FTB launcher for MC 1.7.10? Can that be manually changed? I am not exactly sure how FTB launches the Minecraft instance (I think it is from the respective version in the <ftbroot>\versions folder).

I have not yet successfully launched the 1.7.10 pack. I will attempt to get your specified Forge version and see if I can make it work. Do you know where the launcher stores the Forge .jar? How would I make sure a pack points to a specific version of Forge?

Thanks again.

Ok next newbie question:
I have a basic gas turbine (GT) filled to the brim with steam. What do I need to do to make it actually generate power?

I highlighted either what is a mistake, or you actually meant that and have really filled a gas turbine with steam :p

Edit: also, wtf with the furious zombies? they can walk through solid objects?!
Editofanedit: It has been my experience also, that Iron Ore tends to spawn in those clustered Magnetite nodes.

All i can personally tell is that its thaumcrafts research gui, beyond that my experience is limited.

Edit:
After doing some digging i found this: https://github.com/Azanor/thaumcraft/issues/1100
SpawnX recommends reverting to forge 10.13.1.1208, so ill give it a shot and see what happens.
Edit2: seems the issue was definitely forge 10.13.1.1212 where thaumcraft was concerned, i just moved between 5 or more objects in the gui without issue, though it did have a huge lagspike when i opened up the first item (saving file?)

GregTech noob question inbound:

How in the hell do I get power to my first machine? I have an IC2 generator (the 10 eu/t runs-on-coal kind) and a GregTech Basic Plate Bending Machine (the first kind you can make). I also built an IC2 BatBox.

I cannot, for the life of me, make anything connect. The IC2 generator and BatBox work exactly like I expect IC2 equipment to. The generator runs and connects to the BatBox and fills its buffer. I can attach IC2 cables to the output of the BatBox and they behave normally.

IC2 cables will not connect to the plate bending machine.

GregTech tin and copper (uninsulated) cables will not connect to the output dot on the BatBox or the generator, but will connect to the plate bender.

Placing the plate bender so it is touching the output dot of the BatBox yields nothing. Placing the plate bender in direct contact with the generator yields nothing.

What am I doing wrong here? What generator, batbox, and cables do I need to use to get EU from generation to the plate bending machine? I am so stumped.

Apparently Greg decided that he didn't like the way ic2 was taking its power distribution system iirc, so he scrapped the ic2 integration where power is concerned.
As far as i know, you can no longer connect any ic2 machine to a GT power network, which id hazard a guess is why its not called "GregTech Addon" in NEI anymore.

The first start
^^ This would imply that EXBL might *never* get used with the pack. I would have been happier if it was the opposite (like 1.6.4 where EXBL was enabled over BoP). Otherwise it's nigh impossible for people downloading servers to enable one mod over another.

Oh well who am I kidding! Guess I should just stuff it and join the BoP bandwagon along with the rest of them.
The reason of me adding it as disabled per default is, that ppl already started playing with BoP, and I am strongly against using multiple Biome generation mods at the same time. If I were pushed EXBL to enabled and disable BoP, the old worlds ppl created with BoP would be broken[DOUBLEPOST=1410156809][/DOUBLEPOST]
gah, i hope someone has a clue here. Frustration level is increasing quickly. Wasted an hour on a single recipe.

Recipe is on left. Me trying to craft it is on right.

View attachment 12819[DOUBLEPOST=1410134058][/DOUBLEPOST]MigujNamja just explained this one for me.

Magically the wire on the far left is TIN, not LEAD.

I dunno if they're visually different to non-colorblind people, but it looks identical to me :/

He is correct. The far left cable is TIN. Its hard to notice, but the color of the middle part is slight different color. But yea, its really hard to notice so for colorblind ppl that might and will be a problem :(

Your reasoning on this may be right, and since it's your pack, do what you want.

On a broader perspective, I am beginning to think this might be the beginning of the end of the road for EXBL after all. :( And that makes me sad, in a way.

Side note. FYI, I copied EXBL and BoP in a 1.7.x single world on my test pack (I made it for testing fastcraft), and there were no conflicts whatever like it used to be in 1.6.4.

It's not just you. It looks the same to me, too. Also, the magnetize iron rod looks identical to a normal iron rod, and at least 1 recipe requires both the normal and the magnetized to be used in the same 3x3 recipe.

I also learned the hard way you have to mouse over *every* wire/cable in the new GT recipes.

Thanks, @Tyriael_Soban . This confirmed what @Pyure and I suspected. GT power is now completely independent of IC2 power.

Woops, I mean Basic Steam Turbine.

Its filled with 24 buckets of steam according to the GUI. I have a wire going from what i assume is its "output dot" into a first-tier extruder. AFAIK no power is being output from the generator.

Yeah...everything is hooked up right. But, I think we *may* need to change/improve things. GT is complicated with its power. I'm still watching this video:

One of the best quotes: "Basically, in the beginning, you're very strict with what you can do"

This ain't our father's IC2 anymore.

Ah....hah !! Found a great link:

http://wiki.feed-the-beast.com/GregTech/Electricity

The short version is starting out is tough. One doesn't simply build a 32 volt Basic Steam Turbine and connect it to, say, a Basic machine 32 volt machine, with a few insulated tin cables. No, no. That would be too easy (and make too much sense !)

Rather, one has to either *apparently* directly connect the single Basic Steam Turbine to the basic machine (no cables) *or* else use 2x or more 32v generators (turbines).

Also, tin cables are literally the worst cable to use as a block to pass power through. Steel or Aluminum seem to be far, far superior. Heck, even copper is 2x better.

There is an Aluminum vein not far from our base. I wonder if we can smelt and use that.

I think @SpwnX gave us that link earlier. Anyway I quoted it to you last night with respect to IC2 power transformation (Which it turns out is no longer valid)

Those cables are better only if you have the proper voltage, else they're just as good as tin.

Also, IC and GT power are the same EU as you know, you just have to convert them back and forth.
IC2 EU can be converted to GT EU through transformers (attach an IC2 source block, transformer or storage block directly to a GT transformer).
GT EU can be converted to IC2 EU by just connecting a GT cable to IC2 blocks (and any other mod that supports IC2 EU).

That link says that, but very subtle. I guess i will have to write the above there sometime.

Yeah we tried the transformer thing for an hour. I also tried a direct connection, but maybe I got the "input face" thing messed up.

Will try again.
