Getting stuff for free the legit way doesn't seem as appealing....You don't have to "steal" anything. You just have to wait until I'm finished with it (I could use some help with the coloring of the liquids here)
Totally viable mining alternatives for the AM2 is: IC2 Advanced Miner, Ender Quarry, BC Quarry, and Arcane Bore.that adv miner 2 is a beast
keeping that thing full of fluid/power is a whole different task now. lol was wondering when the distillation tower would come up in hqm. was waiting on making it till I saw it there. got burned a couple times by making something before required in hqm and needed to make it again.
so to bring up what I was talking about the other day, yeah, this is great. tons of ores coming in and will be waiting till trump's out of office for all the oreproc to be done, but I do like to go out and find ores and tackle them with a nice big AOE pick.
I assume botania was pulled out for various reasons, but am curious what other ppl use for mining? I feel like a decent AOE pick is missing in this pack since the awakened pick is so far off and by the time you get it, ores aren't an issue anymore and it becomes moot to have it.
The flux infused does 3x1 and can be fortune/silk touched and that's it. nothing else does AOE other than the mining laser, excavation focus and you lose out on fortune for the laser and excavation focus is sorta lame and you'd have to have multiple wands to effectively mine out an entire area.
Is the goal to push you through some boring af mining till you can do automated ore gathering?
The fluid canner works a little different than other machines with internal tanks afaik, it only has the one tank, that's both input and output tank... you can easily take out the fluid inside it with an empty can again if you want to.When I put Compressed Air Cells (IC2:itemCellEmpty) into a GT Basic Fluid Canner, I expect the air to be extracted from the cells and put into the right output tank of the Basic Fluid Canner GUI. However, the extracted air is instead going into the left input tank of the Basic Fluid Canner GUI. In fact, I only have one right output tank on my Basic Fluid Canner GUI, but the recipes button shows there is supposed to be two output tanks on the right side of the GUI. What am I doing wrong?
I am specifically trying to do the Go Kaboom HQM quest. I expected to be able to use the Basic Fluid Canner to remove air from the Compressed Air Cells so that I could auto-eject the air fluid into a Centrifuge to collect the nitrogen in the Quest Delivery System. However, when the air is extracted from the cells and goes into the the left input tank, it will not eject into the Centrifuge. The fluid canner works a little different than other machines with internal tanks afaik, it only has the one tank, that's both input and output tank... you can easily take out the fluid inside it with an empty can again if you want to.
Which recipe are you referring to?
Are you sure? All my Fluid Canners work just fine even though they all use just the one tank? How are you extracting the fluid from the canner?I am specifically trying to do the Go Kaboom HQM quest. I simply had the fluid canner sitting right next to a centrifuge, and I clicked the eject fluid button on the fluid canner. Yes, I made double-sure that the eject port was pointing in the correct direction. But I will try it again just to be sure. Are you sure? Sometimes a low tech solution is the best remedy... are you not using a wrench to aim the ejection port instead of picking up and replacing your machines?I simply had the fluid canner sitting right next to a centrifuge, and I clicked the eject fluid button on the fluid canner. EDIT: Oh, great! It's gonna make a liar outa me! I just tried it again, and now it is working as expected. The only thing different was that I broke and replace the centrifuge to visually ensure the output port was still pointing in the correct direction on the canner. Either I derped, or the centrifuge needed a reset. *sigh* Thanks anyway
If you had the centrifuge output port directed towards the canners port, without using a screwdriver to allow input through the port... might have been your issue I guess...I usually DO use the wrench to aim the ejection port. I only picked up the centrifuge this time to double-check that the canner ejection port was in fact going where I expected it to go. I mean, my entire factory is set up so that as many machines that SHOULD feed into each other DO feed into each other, so I am used to swapping that port around whenever I DON'T want machines to feed into each other. I do it all the time. My only guess is that the Centrifuge was stuck and was not accepting input, and that it got unstuck when I picked it up. Otherwise, I have no idea why it was not working before.
I wasn't really looking for more options for automining, that wasn't the general gist I was trying to express. Manual mining (but in a real getting stuff done way) is something I -need- while playing, to take my mind off of things, or refresh on whatever other task I'm doing. but doing so with a piddly pick just doesn't do it for me. Have to feel like I'm making headroom, not chipping away at an iceberg with an ice pick. 6 months ago playing infitech2, I got a terrashatterer and had alot of fun going after the veins of ores. I was more lamenting the fact that there isn't anything like that now cept aforementioned awakened pick.Totally viable mining alternatives for the AM2 is: IC2 Advanced Miner, Ender Quarry, BC Quarry, and Arcane Bore.
Those four are alternate ways of automining that are totally possible paths of mining that you might want to use, even if you have a AM2 up and running... why? Because you might want to process your ore either into thaumcraft clusters, for more of the ores metal content or for processing the ore in a sagmill for greater yields of the ores byproducts... (read chrome from ruby, for example)
I've probably neglected some paths, like steve cart mining carts, or RC tunnel bore and something else But you get the point, just because the infitech pack promotes GT technology doesn't mean it's the only viable option open for you... kinda like how a store clerk saying you should get a certain product does not imply it's the only option open for you
Personally I like having manual mining episodes breaking up my gameplay of just standing around in my base building machines
I'm unsure if this is intended, but did you know you can convert oil into metal? The polyethylene sheets(using a cutter on polyethylene plates) are a metalum source for those crazy mages out there...
Lol@u.So, I made such a nice comment about the autominer2, and while in my base just now, suddenly got 2 achievements, bad weather and electrical problems. was like wtf? I've been careful, no explosions, then I realized the autominer. Yup, damn things gone mostly so you have to build an enclosure around that too?
is ok. I rebuilt everything, and got an achievement for it.Lol@u.
Edit: Been there, done that. Lol
Now more seriousy, you have 3 ways to go about it.
1) place the energy hatch in the middle of a side. That way, once plugged for power, there won't be any side opened to the rain.
2) put cover &/or foils on the sides which are opened to the rain.
3) make a roof on top which protect a 1m radius arround the energy hatch.
I see... then why not use iTNT to mine with? It's one of the manual "mass-harvesting" methods you can use to collect ore since the iTNT is supposedly at the correct explosive yield to drop all the blocks instead of destroying them. I heard dynamite is also a fun method of making tunnels, since they make a 3x3x3 explosion centred on themselves. So, I made such a nice comment about the autominer2, and while in my base just now, suddenly got 2 achievements, bad weather and electrical problems. was like wtf? Yeah, I've used poly but then when I started gold farm for the notch apples->juice for nebruism I realized I had way more gold than I would ever use so I've just been breaking down gold nuggets instead.
You can also insert empty cells to extract the fuel that way, the small generators/turbines seem to work like the input hatches... Just like any normal tank in "mods that don't make you tear out your hair"I was amazed to learn that you can pull fuel out of Gas Turbines or Diesel Generators by using the top side! I thought the top side of GT machines was always an "input only side". For items, that's the case, yes.... but apparently not for fluids!
It all happened because I didn't have room to place Ender IO fluid conduits on the side of my little HV Diesel Generator blocks. So I used the top side to insert the Nitro-Diesel fuel. Well, when my Advanced Miner II had finished up, I went to remove the fluid conduits and I somehow put it into "extract" mode while it was still attached... lo and behold, to my surprise, the fuel inside the machine came right out into the attached drum!!!
tl;dr: Just a little tip for anyone interested... you can apparently remove fuels from GT power source blocks via the top side of the machine!! If you are like me, and if you thought "Once I put the fuel in, I can't get it out...", then try my suggestion!
