I just filled 64 Empty Cells from a Reservoir, then right clicked the cells on a Drum to put 64 buckets of water into it... and all 64 cells are gone. That's not supposed to happen with any fluid, let alone water. I use Empty Cells all the time to transfer small amounts of fluids from location to location. And the empty cells always show up in my inventory. But this time they're gone, I don't seem them on the ground anywhere, they just vanished. Why?

Sometimes the cells don't show up in my inventory, they become invisible, and I have to click on the empty slot to make them appear. I'm sure some of you know what I mean. That's also odd behavior, but it happens so often I don't panic when I don't see the empty cells right away. But these cells are really, truly gone now, trust me. This isn't supposed to happen. It's very aggravating and maddening to realize some bug just cost me 128 tin ingots which is the cost of those cells. Why the F can't Cells work properly, it isn't just this modpack, it's probably the IC2 mod that is ultimately at fault.
- meh -
I think the thing with cells not showing up at once is that when you right click with a cell it will not update your player inventory, but you see the cells again when you perform a manual inventory update, like opening a chest or sorting the inventory.
About the water cells, I had the same issue, so I made the universal water cell to stop me from wasting cells when transporting water... and some other fluids will only go into universal, rather than normal, cells.

Edit: removed an error ;)

Neat tip regarding those universal cells: IC2's Universal Cells can transport X amount of fluid, where X is not necessarily 1000. If you have 24mb of fluid in a container somewhere and you want to move it, you can "ladle" it out with an IC2 universal cell.

Thanks guys, I'm over my little temper tantrum. hehe Thx for the tips, I will see how to make cells for a cheaper price.

Holy cow, I just ran my Implosion Compressor for the first time, and yes I was prepared for some sort of sound effect... but it still made me jump anyways, and startled me. That's because I still have a "hangover" from when my base blew up last week due to me inadvertantly sending MV current into LV machines. Oops. But now every big noise I hear makes me think to myself "Oh no, not again." LOL

So... I have officially found my first diamond/graphite-vein before I found my first real copper or tin vein (not counting the one tin vein that was like 90% eaten from world gen) :D

Well I did 'technically' find a few possible tin/copper veins... but all too high y-level for world gen, so yet have to find copper/tin. Waiting to find my first tungsten vein before copper or tin *laughs*

The two main sources of copper are either Chalcopyrite, which is found way down low at around 25-35 or so (check the ore book), and Tetrahedrite, which is found way up high, even higher than Tin veins. But Tetrahedrite veins will be much smaller than Chalco, and much more rare (due to the elevation range it spawns in). Generally for copper you go down low and look for a Chalco vein. Tetrahedrite veins are where you go for all your battery needs, specifically you want the "in-between" or "around" ore in the vein called Stibnite, which smelts to Antimony ingots, and that's the stuff you need to make the plates for batteries and to make Soldering Iron Alloy which you will also use quite a bit as you progress into making Circuits required for all your electrical machines.

Another tip, altho it may not be an entirely useful one (since it's a much more dangerous place), is you can also check the nether for Tetrahedrite, it's fairly common there. While you probably don't have a nether portal yet, I must mention it anyways because perhaps you're playing on a server like me, and you might have nether access thru their portals. On my server they make a "common" portal for everybody to use right at the spawn. If you're playing single-player, then I realize the chances are slim that you've progressed to the Nether Portal stage yet. But just keep it in mind. No tin in the nether, but thanks to Tetrahedrite you might find a copper source (and that antimony/Stibnite along with it). Now that I think of it... I'm not actually sure which tier of pickaxe you will need to mine Tetrahedrite, it might require a Tier 3 (such as Cobalt). But there are normal Copper Ore blocks scattered about in there as well, so you could def get some copper just from those even tho they're not all that numerous.

Thanks for the hints, especially the nether. Though yeah I am not near entering the nether. Well maybe I could reach it already, forming the portal with lava buckets and then trying this skyblock-way ot activating it (if that actually still works in 1.7.10, never actually tried it, heh). but I guess I wait for normal progression to reach it.

Chalcopyrite is the one I'm after, same as Cassiterite. Just no luck so far. 55 different veins found already (about 5 "empty" spots, though might have to check them again if they probably hide diamond ore after noticing that this ore is alot more spread out in the stone). Just no luck yet with finding the right veins. ^^"
And besides the two extreme hills I already checked, havn't found a third one yet, so the high elevation veins is always a problem.
Already burned through almost a stack of wrought iron since started my search, heh. Might try to find another extreme hill biome soon, when I have no luck any time soon... need something different to do than just digging one hole down after another. ^^"

Another question after trying to find out if some of the empty vein-chunks I found are actually empty:

- Is the information that the prospecting of the hammer is a 5x5 area and 11 random blocks outdated?
If not:
- 5x5 is how to understand? :/

Reason I ask:
I tried several ways of finding what the prospecting showed but I don't find any way to explain the 5x5. I dug ou an 7x7x7 (centered on where I clicked, so 3 down 3 up and 7 wide/long) area behind the stone I clicked on without success, I tried taking the stone I clicked on middle point of the 5x5x5 in both tries I couldn't find what the prospecting gave me as result.
So I really don't understand how I should react to this message I get :/

[edit]
After further testing it looks like it's a 5 radius around the stone you clicked on... if that's right that's a huge area to find ore ^^"
Lucky to have at least some malachite and bought 32 copper from the questbook-shop. With the tin from the quest-bags I at least can start a little bit into tech.
Three days of trying to find a copper and tin vein sure eats at the motivation, heh.

Lol dang, three days to find copper... That's rough. My base was on a chalco vein and about 3 months into playing I turned my render distance up and found out the hill next to my base houses a tetra vein but it took me upwards to a week to find a limonite vein xD Funny the difference a random generator can do.

Yeah sometimes the RNG hates us... well actually it always does *laughs*
I found so far 5 or 6 Limonite veins... so if worst comes to worst I need to get my copper in form of malachite. And with the diamond-vein found I was able to make the steam-macerator... now if I understand how to set up the first machines I can even double this malachite :)

Still... won't give up finding these two veins, since I read you need like a ton of bronze to get into LV. Just really happy about the questbook at the moment, this way I can at least take a little break, start some minor tech before going back to digging holes.

Hope the RNG has some mercy with me soon. Else I have to put the uranium I found (4 veins already) into the furnace and claim victoriously "I build my first nuclear reactor!" :D

Because Water Cells are a special case. IC2 says they break and disappear when you decant them with anything other than a Fluid Canner.

IIRC you can use them with an IC2 (glass) Tank just fine, and you can put them into the GUI for the EnderIO Tank to reuse them in that case, because EnderIO Tanks have the same functionality as a Fluid Canner! Yes, this means you can use them to fill a Lighter, for instance.

Are you sure about that? Every time I put Water Cells in an EIO tank, it ate the cells. I use the EIO tank as a Canner substitute everywhere I can, but the Water Cells are the one thing it doesn't play nice with.

Input hatches (the multiblock component) work without power as instant fluid canners (and obviously can be placed anywhere, not just in multiblocks). You also maintain the empty cells when placing in water cells. They are incredibly overpowered and I love them greatly. Throw a couple pumps on an input hatch and you have an easy way to divide up your drums full of liquids into precise amounts for crafting (I mean per 1000mb, so not super precise).

Side note, I was pleased to finally upgrade to tungstensteel coils for my EBF, and then incredibly dissapointed to find out you need HSS coils to smelt the other HSS metal variants. Really?...

That's strange, it worked with some other cells I had. Is it JUST water cells?

Is it JUST water cells?

I just did some testing - it's all cells that are the IC2 cell item, rather than the GT cell item. Here's a list:

Water, Lava, UU-Matter, Construction Foam, Compressed Air, Industrial Biomass, Biogas, Electrolyzed Water, IC2 Coolant, Hot IC2 Coolant, Pahoehoe Lava, Distilled Water, Steam, Superheated Steam.

Edit: Nevermind, I built the nano suit lol

And be sure to then take the NanoSuit Chestplate and make the Advanced Chestplate so you have full flight. I use F for flight on/off and I think you turn on hover mode (its undocumented unfortunately) by jumping (flying upward) and pressing the M key. I love my NanoSuit, I make it in every pack. And even tho the white version of the suit is better than the black Nano version... I never go for that upgraded armor because the flight characteristics are different. The NanoSuit with full flight is the absolute perfect armor for me. I also make the IC2 Mining Laser, and the Chestplate charges that up constantly so you can use it until the 3m EU in the Chestplate is depleted. I put it in Horizontal Mode and can mine ore veins very very quickly using it.

P.S. You need an HV battery box to charge the Nano suit up, I'm sure you already know that by now tho.

I'm having some problems with the GT Large Steam Turbine.

I built one with an HV dynamo hatch, put in a small steel turbine, and hooked it up to the input of an EV battery buffer. Power built up in the dynamo hatch, but was never output to the (6 block 1x aluminum cable connected) battery buffer. (I checked the internal buffer with a scanner.) It was fed as much steam as it could take from a bedrockium barrel.

Thinking I might be too optimistic with my output, I put in an LV dynamo hatch. The turbine ran for a moment and then exploded.

Does anyone have any idea why that might have happened??? The book said nothing about output voltages causing explosions from what I saw, and an battery buffer should accept any input voltage lower than its rating. The rotor was also at full durability (51000/52000) when it started to run.

Please help, this is driving me insane.

At some point your turbine is generating more power than your dynamo hatch can handle I believe.

EDIT: I read your post more closely:

A small Steel Turbine rotor should only output 105 EU/t in a Steam Turbine when properly supplied with steam.

The LV Dynamo Hatch will explode if it tries to output more than 32 EU/t. That's your second answer. As to the first one, since you verified that the dynamo hatch's buffer increased but the battery buffer's internal buffer did not, my first guess is that you had the input wire connected to the side of the buffer with the dot, as that is the output side of the buffer. Another guess, you didn't mention whether you put any batteries in the buffer - a buffer's input amperage is twice the number of chargeables inside it, so if the buffer has nothing in it, its input amperage is zero.
